Title: Bought a Drawing Tablet
Post by: landbeforetimelover on December 29, 2009, 04:51:53 AM
Well, I decided that I wanted to take up drawing a while back, but I just couldn't get around to using that old pen & paper.  I talked to a couple of artists over at my favorite furry community, and they claimed that they couldn't do crap without a drawing tablet.  Hearing this, I decided to invest in one.  I bought this one today for $129:

I must say, I'm impressed.  It took quite a while to get used to it.  It was harder to learn how to use this then it was to learn how to use a mouse. :p But I've got a rough grasp on it.  I must say, it's actually legible when I write in Japanese now:

Yeah, I know it still sucks, but you can actually read it!  You don't understand how TERRIBLE I am with writing and drawing.  Wish I could show you some of my writing when I took my Japanese class, but I don't have any of it anymore. :(

But anyway, I might even be able to draw now if I really practice.  I'll see what I can come up with and if it's not too embarrassing, I'll post it.

Cool! I'm going to get a tablet in about a week myself. I'm planning on a $75-100 range one. I can go up to $125 if need be, as another $125-150 will be spent on a version of Sony Vegas or whatever other video editors are out there.

Then comes the 3-6 month learning curve for each before I master them.  :lol

I'm sure I can be proficient within a couple of weeks, though, even though I'm not the "master." XD

I know that wacom and many other tablet makers are of Asian origin, as it lets them write their characters electronically.

Awesome! Wacom tablets are wonderful. I've had mine for over five years, and it still works as well as it did the day I got it.

Nothing.  I was just practicing some writing. :p I can't write Japanese without looking it up every time.  Comes from never using it. :smile

Well, I haven't even played around with the thing since I posted here.  Not even a scribble.  I'm a bit depressed right now, so the last thing I want to do is draw.  On top of that my back hurts, so I don't feel like sitting up for any length of time.

EDIT:
Misspelling. :p

You honestly didn't know that?  Sure I may not flaunt it around, but I've always had a "furry side." :smile I just don't know what to do for an avatar right now.

As for the drawing...yeah, I still suck. :p I'm gonna need a LOT of practice before I'll EVER post anything here.  Hope I can get the time.
