This RP is going to let the character use magic, of any kind they like! As long as it isn't "godlike" or gives them power to raise the dead or break the fourth wall, it should be fine. I'm planning on having the players gather into a Circle of Mages and proceed to do whatever they wish to do from there. The only requirement is that the character be able to use some kind of magic. You can play as any species or race, or even make one up; your character need not be human, bipedal, or even sane! :lol
I won't be able to start this one until I actually have the time to do it. Give it a week or two.
If you are interested, just post a character or characters into this thread, with some basic description of them and what kind of magic they use. I'll add several as time permits.
-
Anyone interested? I guess things have been a bit slow lately.
-
Hmm, I may join this one....cause as I read it some more and what have you, it does become more interesting, and what's more, I have character ideas buzzing around in my mind now XD
I mean, one could perhaps use holy magic, like a Paladin for example, hmm....I take it the character can only use a specific kind of magic? As in, one who uses fire can only use fire based attacks? Or can they also use other magic as well?
Also, does an alchemist count as using magic too? Just to clear that part up as well, as in, creates poisons for arrows/knives sort of thing? Or, would that also come underneath an enchanter? Then again, would those be more, secondary classes instead?
What kind of forms of magic are in this RP anyway? I guess I should've asked that one first, lol.
-
Any and all kinds of magic are allowed. Divine magic and alchemy, while not as widely used as the main ones (which I will spell out later), are still quite common. Think of them as the next most popular items on a menu at a restaurant after what the restaurant is best known for.
-
Ah okay, cool. So, then that would mean Voodoo magic is allowed?
Hmm, I might make up a character at some point, whether said character deals in voodoo magic of holy magic, not sure, nor if said character will be human or not either XD
-
Voodoo is allowed, non-humans are allowed, all of what you said is perfectly allowed, Drake! I'm glad to see you are interested. :D
-
Ah, it's no problem at all ^^
I'm leaning towards Necromancy, but problem with that is that it contains things like raising the dead, summoning spirits and all that, one that could be considered more godlike, which I don't want to have to do either.
Then again, with Necromany, I'm not entirely sure on what ese one would actually do with said magic you know. And with that being said, I'm not even sure if I will have Necromancy as a magic you know.
So yeah, gonna have to still try and decide on a form of magic, cause I, believe it or not, would like to be part of this one, but I need a good form of magic is all, as in, something not too powerful or godlike you know, something that is flawed in its own way.
-
Oh, I believe it! :lol
Anyway, some ideas for necromancy would include magic that kills, raises a variety of undead, controls undead once risen, drains life from opponents, communicates with the dead (like a seance), and maybe some stuff involving plagues, darkness, and blowing stuff up!
Just some ideas.
-
Explosions? Awesome! *dances*
Ahem, yeah, but didn't you put in that something like raising the dead would be considered a bit powerful? But the other ones, yeah, I likey, perhaps even certain summoning is allowed? As in, summon certain undead creatures and what have you?
But regardless, I do like the ideas you had put in, gives me more of an idea for a character anyway believe it or not ^^
-
Bringing someone back at will totally unscathed would be too powerful, but I can see a mindless zombie or skeleton is okay. Bringing back the ghost of a dead guy is not too powerful either.
Feel free to summon undead in reasonable amounts. Don't send a million zombies out and we'll be fine.
-
Ah, well, in that case, cool. I don't plan on summoning someone unscratched and all.....they will be bought back as a mindless zombie! A skeleton shall work as well! But of course, it wont be anything powerful, I do like to keep things fair ^^
As for the ghost of a dead person, hadn't actually crossed my mind that, but would be rather interesting, not sure if I would go with that one myself, but I will consider it as well XD
So really, I think I shall use necromancy, since it was more or less all cleared up in here ;)
Now, as for a character, I have a small idea in my mind for one, a good one as well believe it or not, a good person using necromancy....who would've guessed?
-
Cool! I've got some ideas for two or more chars of my own. I might "import" a Dracon as well as use a totally new character.
So far, I think I will have one male and one female. What about you, Drake? Do you have any details yet?
-
A human female at the very least, still slowly sorting it all out you know, but I have a rather vague idea ^^
-
Got it. Take your time. I'm looking at a human, a dracon, but cannot decide which one will be male and which will be female.
-
Hope you do decide between what gender to make them XD
As for me, a small change, the human is going to be a male and not a necromancer....but I am still having a necromancer, but of a different race actually.
My human male is most likely going to be a paladin :D
-
I see you are making at least two characters. Good! Is the female going to be the necromancer? And... if one is a paladin, he will probably not be on her side... maybe he is an individual who opposes the circle of mages?
Given that she is a necromancer, he probably would have good reason. XD
-
Yeah, the female's gonna be the necromancer. As for the paladin, he probabally would at first, until the necromancer explains her some more sort of thing, but could still be on edge with her sort of thing.
As for opposes the circle of mages, hmm, not sure actually....don't know if he would have a reason to or not actually.
-
Well, I don't know what kind of a paladin would actually support a necromancer. Hmm. Maybe one of those fallen kinds of paladins. As it is, a paladin is as much a warrior as he is a mage, but there is still room for him, don't get me wrong.
-
Yeah, I know what you mean about a paladin being a fighter and a mage. But yeah, I was going by the paladin being a bit understanding at least and all that.
But yeah, we'll see I rekon at least XD
-
"Understanding" someone who works evil magics doesn't make a necromancer any less evil. I don't see what you mean.
-
Indeed, but I never did say that she was going to be evil. I mean, people usually see necromancers as evil, but she would be one who is, misunderstanded by others....I mean, it's something she found to be rather interesting, but would rather use it for good than evil.
-
That cannot really be. Raising the dead is evil pretty much by definition. You know what I mean. The act itself is bad.
-
Well, that's what many people have come to believe, but you know something, I do have an idea on something actually, just clicked....she would be evil to start off with perhaps....hmm....
Okay, now I have something else buzzing around in my mind, especially since instead of necromancy, it would be more wicca magic, as in, not raising the dead or anything, but would use magic like....actually, not sure on what kind of magic in that case.
However, I will still use necromancy for another character all up, someone evil and all, but not sure on it just yet.
-
Cool. Just remember, writing is rewriting. You will get it eventually I am sure.
-
Yeah, I think I know where you're going with that. But I just wonder, would you have any clues of what wicca magic would contain? Cause I'm sure tarot cards are used in it, even though I have no idea on how they're used myself.
-
Fortune telling, nature magic, the elements, making contact with nature spirits, worship of various deities, etc. Do a bit of research, maybe. It can be fun to learn!
-
Hehe yeah, I just want to know of a good website where I can read about that, since Wikipedia isn't that reliable at times XD
But yeah, that does sound about right, as I was reading on Wikipedia that they also used white magic as well. But nature magic sounds rather intruiging as well.
-
I'll get you a link...
This one looks promising: http://www.paganlibrary.com/reference/natu...pirit_magic.php (http://www.paganlibrary.com/reference/nature_spirit_magic.php)
-
Ah cool, thanks ^^
What kind of stuff do you actually want on the profile? Like, what their speciality is, what race, age, name and all that?
-
Race, male/female, name, age, powers, and a bit of background. I'll make some myself later on.
-
Ah cool, I do have most of my female sorted out, which I'll add her in soon. But still working on my male character a bit as well.
-
Good to hear. I'm still a ways off from having anything tangible here. :lol
-
Hehe, hey, at least you have an idea, which is....something! :lol
Still working out the kinks in my female, but I do have a clear image of it all in my mind, as in, name, race, age and all that sort of stuff.
-
Alright. I have an idea for the female dracon. She's a blood mage, and uses the power of sacrificed animals to wield magic. Naturally, this is forbidden in most places, so her "art" is largely carried on in secret. This sort of magic largely revolves around summoning and binding creatures called in with the power of blood. I'll add names and details soon.
