I am exploring another dimension of a character that most everyone doesn't think of. What a character smells like. And i'm very curious about it.
I did Pterano a few days ago, and I wanted to do it one final time. This time to Rinkus *I know this is very strange and weird to you... but i'm just curious.
I know that pterosaurs didn't have a strong sense of smell. I've always pictured Pterano's breath being very fishy.
Now I wanted to know about Rinkus. (I really love that pink Rhamphorhynchus, as some of you really know)
Sorry for the following to be so weird and unusual. (If I had the chance to. I would love to give Rinkus a hug) so pretend this happens.
I run up to Rinkus and he and I hug each other. As I hug him, I smell him.
What would he smell like? Would he be very stinky? or not bad at all?
And would he feel very warm if I hugged him?
I'm sorry if that was super weird or gay. I DID NOT intend it on sounding like that.
(It's just that i've been imagining in my head Rinkus really liking me and him and I becoming great friends. And if he was stinky... i'd still like Rinkus just the same.)
*I promise that this will be the last time I ask what a character smells like. and I DO mean it this time.

Personally, Jared, I think you could have just posted this in the earlier topic on Pterano.
Somehow, I imagine Rinkus's breath as being worse than Pterano's. While the LBT Pteranodons are depicted (incorrectly) as eating leaves and fruit (possibly in addition to fish, though even if this is the case, there could be some individuals who eat more of or only one or the other), we never get any indication of what Rinkus and Sierra eat. Their pointed teeth would not seem to indicate a herbivorous diet, though domeheads also have sharp teeth, and some have been seen to live in the Great Valley, so the teeth may have simply been added to the flyers' designs to make them appear more menacing. Sierra strongly resembles the carnivorous flyer that snagged Ducky in LBT V, and Rinkus is similar to long-tailed flyers that appear in other movies, such as two of the judges of the Day of the Flyers (who lack sharp teeth and thus could be as potentially flexible in their dietary habits as the Pteranodons). Unlike the LBT V flyer, Sierra seemed to have no interest in eating Ducky or any of the gang, suggesting instead that they be fed to the sharpteeth. However, this does not rule out fish as a possible diet for him or Rinkus, and given their dentition, I would assume that to be the case. At any rate, I'm getting off the subject. If Rinkus and Sierra are indeed non-herbivores, their diets would be restricted to fish, whereas Pterano has the option of feeding on less smelly fare. Furthermore, one might expect Pterano to be more concerned about what his breath smells like, given his vanity, whereas Rinkus and Sierra probably don't care too much. As far as how bad the rest of him would smell, your guess is as good as mine, though my argument for Pterano (a lack of skin glands equating to a lack of body odor) probably applies here too.
There is strong evidence that, like mammals and birds, pterosaurs were “warm-blooded”, producing their own body heat. They would need a large and constant supply of energy in order to fly vigorously, which a higher metabolism would be better at providing. Furthermore, fossil imprints show that many pterosaurs were covered in a coat of hair, a hallmark of animals that need to retain heat. Even ignoring the scientific evidence, the dinosaurs in LBT would have to be warm-blooded in order to remain active when the valley turned cold in LBT VIII. So yes, Rinkus probably would feel warm to the touch, as would any dinosaur or pterosaur in LBT. (The same might not be true for other creatures, such as Elsie, Mo, and especially Dil and Archie.)

I never would have thought he'd be stinky...he's pink and I usually associate that with stuff like pink lemonde, mmm... :P:

uuuh ... a stinky dinosaur ? .... Never thought of that before :lol I dont think that he would stink , I always imagine the dinos to feel warm :lol :)
what would Guido smell like ?? :wub :wub would he be warm ? ( Id defaintly hug him !!!!! )

I can totally relate to how you feel, Jared...just not about creepy Rinkus (no offense.)
Personally I'd love to hug...Spike. He's my favorite of the gang!! :wub
I know he was definitely stinky for 4 one episode of the series when he fell into the pool of mud. Cera says he's "more stinky then usual", meanig Spike probably is naturally stinky.
...but what the hell? I'd love him just the same! :smile

I have to agree with Guido Lover on this one. I don't think Rinkus would stink, but he sure would feel warm.
and Bruton the Iguanodon: It's ok to like Spike, we all have our own different favorite characters. Mine are Pterano, Petrie, and Rinkus. And you like Spike. It's ok. ;)

So yes, Rinkus probably would feel warm to the touch, as would any dinosaur or pterosaur in LBT. (The same might not be true for other creatures, such as Elsie, Mo, and especially Dil and Archie.)
Interesting! I don't think I would have thought of Spike as being particularly warm prior to reading that post, but thanks to you, Pangaea, I know he and all dinosaurs and pterosaurs are, and it definitely makes me wanna hug him.
Anyways, good research, girl! :exactly
And what was the point of that scene with Ducky being kidnapped by that carnivorous flyer, anyways?
