Today my laptop died. I'm using my sister's computer to post this topic, I have no idea how long it will be before I get a new computer or get my old one fixed. To let Dark, Action and Petrie know, I won't be on Yahoo for a while. :cry2

Awww....that stinks. Hope to see you soon.
Btw, the alimon comic I was making is finished. Remind me to send it to you next time we meet online, k?
-
Ouch... :(
That is good to know though. At least I won't worry about what happened to you.
Best of luck getting it fixed. At least prices of laptops are becoming more reasonable these days, so if you Have to replace it, it's not as bad as it probably was to buy the one you had.
-
If its under warranty you shouldn't have to pay a dime, depending on who made the laptop. I don't know about replacement, but considering you play some pretty big games, it won't be cheap to get a replacement. :( Best of luck...especially if you have a Sony.
-
It's a Gateway, and its 3 year warranty is almost expired.
-
I take you don't have an ordinary 'set it on a table and plug it into the wall' computer. Ouch. Well, good luck with that. Hope to see your username soon.
-
No, I don't have a desktop, I have a notebook. I'll still be visiting GoF often, just not on my computer.
-
turns out that I only need to take my computer in to get the screen fixed, I hooked up my iPod to the computer to charge it even though the screen was blank, when it automatically opened iTunes it played a track. So I just need to take it in to get the screen fixed on my laptop. At least I won't have to spend a fortune on a new laptop. :P:

Yay! ^^
-
Sure must be quite a relief after the fright. :)
-
*crosses fingers* Here's hope that its still under warranty...the LCD screen that is...those aren't cheap to replace either. Actually nothing on a laptop is. ^^

I have bad news. My laptop mother board is fried. So I guess I'm gonna have to buy a new computer after all. :(
Does anybody know of any good laptops at an affordable price. I'm looking one with a good video card for games?
-
Alienwear is good for games but high in price.
-
If the warranty hasn't expired (whatever it is Gateway gives you) you should still be able to get a new motherboard and only have to pay minimal charges. Unless that model is so old that they can't get you a new motherboard....should be a much more cheaper route than buying a whole new laptop.
Would you know I've replaced the motherboard twice in my laptop (Dell Inspiron 5150) because the darn sound chip of all things, failed? They sent me the box to give it back and I haven't paid them a cent since I had a two year warranty plan on it. So really I'd check with Gateway first and see what you're entitled to under that warranty. ;)
-
Well, it's too late now. My warranty has expired. :cry2

either that or become an evil villian and hold the world ransome to buy a new PC with the ransome money.
eh just a thought.
