Title: Itchy or Icky
Post by: Nintendoofah64 on December 10, 2010, 11:04:42 AM
just wondering what does everyone call the sharpbeak from LBT4 since he's been called Itchy most of the time but Dil calls him Icky? :confused

I tend to spell him "Ichty" even though I readily admit that it doesn't read the way the name sounds in the movie. I am pretty sure I saw him spelled like that in the closing credits (though possibly only in the credits at the end of the German video tape. I am not entirely certain about that). It might make sense as a reference to Ichthyornis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichtyornis).

I've always thought it was Ichy. I think that's how it's spelled in the credits.

Yep, the credits' spelling is I-C-H-Y, which is pronounced the same as “icky”. His scientific name, Ichthyornis, is pronounced “Ick-thee-or-niss”, but I guess the filmmakers thought that “Ichy” sounded better than “Ichthy”, so they removed a syllable. A name that sounds like “icky” kind of works for his character, too, possibly implying that he is unpleasant and repulsive (which, from the gang'sóand Dil's :póstandpoint, he is).

Just to reinforce the point...the movie spells it Ichy. Why argue?  :p

I tend to call him Icky because well...that's what dil called him in the movie I guess. But I pronounce it like "Icky" but it's spelt like "Ichy". Weird. Oh well, thaought I'd give my opinion. Bye now.

I have to disagree there. It's clear in LBT4 that his name is pronounced as "ick-ee". If his name were spelled Icthy, then his name should have been pronounced "ick-thee", yet I don't recall him ever being called that. So I doubt Icthy is how you spell his name.

On LBT wiki, it has his name spelled as "Ichy" and that's what it was spelled as in the end credits of LBT4.
