Title: We're on ice
Post by: crazedwriter on February 02, 2011, 06:03:40 PM
So how's the weather in your neighborhood? We are now on our second snow day (or should it be Ice Day?) and I have a feeling there'll be no school tomorrow. It's that bad. We had sleet all day yesterday, freezing rain on top of that, then 45mph winds all last night.  My entire yard and front walk is covered with ice with just a narrow path of bare concrete from the door to porch. I walked those few steps this morning to get the paper. I've been no where else.  Wherever you all are, please keep safe and warm.

Every university in southern ontario was closed but mine.

It seems they like to torture us.

Every school here in my school district has been closed for two days in a row now, and there's a chance of it be closed Thursday and Friday too. :smile
Takes alot of stress out of my day, and I have more time to work on my pictures, to draw and to write fanfictions. :smile

EDIT: Even schools in places like Hamilton, Auburn and Indianapolis are closed too.

I had a delay yesterday and no school today. I was happy, because I get extra time to prepare for my pre-calc test and French test.

I actually didn't get much snow today, but the roads are very icy. There are still piles of snow outside from previous snowstorms though.

Cold, snowy and cold. Cold cold cold! I hate the cold. Yesterday, we hit below -20 degrees. Below that even. We almost hit -30 degrees. Sucks.

Doesn't get that cold here, but it has been freezing overnight and for most of today.  Been very cold today and is supposed to be the next few days.  Though it very seldom snows here and doesn't get as cold as places very north of here.

All of my classes today were canceled, which honestly surprised me. The storm didn't seem that bad to me, but then again whenever I walk around campus it's the wind that bothers me more than the precipitation, and there was hardly any wind today. :D

The guy across the street is chopping the ice on my front walk. It'll take more than a shovel to get through this stuff. More like a jackhammer!

I can picture myself doing that to the snow we had yesterday instead of using a plastic (even a steal shovel didn't do the job well :o ).

Now I wish I have a jackhammer. :DD

I've always had extreme resistance to the cold.  I go outside to walk the dog in nothing but my underwear and a t-shirt (only late at night when no one's around) and bare feet.  It was like -30 last night with the wind chill factor.  The dog always wakes me up at like 3:00am to let him out.  I wish I could break the cycle, but it's become a habit for him.  After about 5 minutes I had to go back inside, which is quite amazing for me since I can easily stay outside for 20 minutes or longer like that at zero degrees.

Well it was sunny today, and will be sunny tomorrow.  We got two bad days of weather, but the forecasters predicted a foot of snow that never came.  :nyah  :nyah Less shoveling for me.

What I hate more than anything else is snow shoveling.  It's not that bad when winter just starts and the snow is new and loose.  But when it starts getting really freaking cold, it's like trying to shovel a big sheet of ice.  It took me 2 hours one time just to reach from the front door to the car so I could leave! :bang

EDIT:  And yeah I did it in a t-shirt and jeans.  No coat or gloves or anything.  It wasn't that bad until about an hour in.

You say you are resistant to the cold but are you also resistant to getting a cold?

Anyway, from where I live its been in the low 50's and high 70's lately so no snow and no shoveling for me! :nyah
That is why I'd rather live in the south side!

Was  warm winter so far, but we've had some very cold days here very lately and got a slight bit of snow last night.  Just enough to lightly cover anything outside in what looked like a thin layer of powder.  Rarely snows here.  Hopefully it'll be warming up over the next few days.
