As some of you all know, I am a major fan on the Ace Combat serries for the PS2. Well, I found out that another ace combat game is comming out but it was for the PSP only! The problem is, all the game's predecessors have been for the PS 1 or 2 and will not work on a PSP. Therefore, people who only have a PSP can only play that game and none of the other games in the serries. And people who only have a PS2, like me, will not be able to play the new game. Basically, the only people who can play it and the prequels are people with both a PSP and a PS2. Lets just say that Namco ain't gonna sell a lot of copies of this game. See, whan they do crap like this, it limits who can buy the game. Now would it have killed them to make a PS2 version? Well, I can always hope the game sucks so I really won't be missing anything good. Namco has already screwed up by making an Ace Combat game for the GBA only. The stupidity in that is that since all other games were for the playstation 1 or 2, the fans all have a PS 1 or 2 and not a Game Boy Advanced. And the fans who did hated the game because they liked Ace COmbat games to have beautiful, 3d, photo-realistig graphics that the PS2 offered and loathed the cheap, crappy graphics that the GBA version offered. I heard the plot stunk too. I think those people at Namco have been smoking something because they are screwing up one of the best games out there by making cheap sequels. Ace Combat Zero only came out in March, 2006 and this PSP game is due to hit the shelf by November of this year. Ace Combat Zero wasn't even as good as Ace Combat 4 or 5. It would be very hard to beat Ace Combat 4 because the reviewers gave it a 10/10. Anyway, what I am saying is that I am upset that I won't be able to even try the new game.

It makes me wonder what the guys at Sony were smoking when they invented the PSP. They could have at least thrown in a second analog stick! That's why I'm sticking with the Nintendo DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters.
-
Well, I just saw this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ggc6iafWyWE) (and confirmed that it is only for the PSP) and the game looks awesome. Crap! Crap! Crap!  :mad :mad Stupid PSP! Stupid crackhead game designers!
-
They should have done it on the DS. The touch screen fills in well for a second thumb sitck.
-
Or they could have just left it the fream alone and made it for the freamin PS2. Gosh, that is like taking Halo 3 and making if for the GBA when it comes out. Namco, you will die in flames when I get my X-wing starfighter!
-
Or my longsword fighter!
-
And I am really dreading having to pay 600 bucks for a PS3 when Ace Combat 6 comes out. But at this rate, they will be up to Ace Combat 2000000000000 before the PS3 is out.

Here is the awesome Ace Combat 5 opening trailer!

Here's my advice. Stay away from the PS3!!!!!! Don't spend $600, wait for a couple years, THEN buy it! I say, got out, buy and Xbox and get Crimson Skies, that should keep you occupied until then.
-
My parents won't get me an Xbox. Anyway does that other game have a hot Japanese chick in it like Ace COmbat 5 does?
-
Uuuh, no. :lol But the game has a lot of action in it, and it's cheaper since it's been out a couple years. If you want an Xbox for a reasonable price, you can get a good working used one at a pawn shop. That's where I got my NES, SNES and my Sega Genesis.
-
Making a new game only for the PSP when all the games before it were on the main console? That's stupid. At least Nintendo made it possble for one to play Gameboy Advance games on the Gamecube.
I wouldn't get a PSP just to play this game, or ever, for that matter, because if you twist it the wrong way, the disc will go shooting out of the damn thig and hit someone! Believe me, I know, I was the person the disc hit and received a nasty bump on my head as the result.
-
Oooooh, that's gotta hurt. :bang I'm going to get a DS, because the touch screen substitutes as a second thumb stick while playing a first person shooter.
-
Anyway, the PSP sucks because it uses batteries like crazy and worst of all, you can't hook it up to a big screen TV and plig in the surround system and make look like you are really in the cockpit of an F-15.

They did?

o_O Ouch...

Yes, Dark H, Nintendo did.

Sweet! They've got an Ace Combat wiki!
http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page (http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page)

Good luck with that, and you may want to check elsewhere for the validity of that article, you know that people like to vandalize Wikipedia.

ANother thing that Namco did was screw up the American version of Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere for the PS1. The Japanese version had 54 missions, more aircraft, awesome cutscenes, and you could join different organizations and change sides in the middle of the game. The only problem: It was all in Japanese with no English translation. Well, the American version came out and people were shock to discover that this version had been reduced to 36 missions, had none of the cool cutscenes, the wingmen and other characters had been cut out, there was no radio chatter, not all of the fighters were flyable, you could no longer chose sides and join other organizations and some were completely left out, the graphics had been downgraded slightly, and there was no dialogue at all. Basically, Namco spent a whole year ruining what could have been the coolest game in the series. How much trouble could it have been to give the player the option of chosing the language? And what I really want to know is why the flippydoodle did they ruin the game? They just scewed the game up for no reason. I think they should redo the game. And make it for the PS2 or 3 because they really owe the disopointed fans for what they did!

I agree with f-14. They should have just translated ac3 not screw it up! (btw chapter 1 of my story in in the fanart/ fanfictions fourm.)
-
I know! I'll go to Japan, go to Namco's home office, find out what "genius" got the earthshattering idea to f#$% up Ace COmbat 3 and give him a piece of my mind. Maybe a black eye to go with it.
-
I feel the same way about Halo. I loved Halo for the PC and when Halo 2 came out they only made it for the X-Box! I absolutely HATE using an analog stick for a first-person shooter. I own an X-Box, but I just can't play the game -_- Hopefully some day they'll remake it for the PC...

(INSERT CUSS WORD HERE) I can't believe this! Namco has done it again! Ace Combat X was for the PSP only and now Ace Combat 6 is for the Xbox360! Curse you Namco! Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation will be for the Xbox360 according to Namco's website. Well, at least it wasn't for the PS3. That would really burn my bottom. THere is no bleepin way I'm buying a PS3. Oh, and the graphics for this new Ace Combat game don;t look any better on the Xbox 360 than they do on the PS2. Why do they do this? There should be a law or something. See, all the other games have been for the PS1 or 2. ACX was for the PSP. Well, people who have the Xbox 360 are going to see this game and have no clue because they haven't played any of the other games in the series. People who have played the games but have no Xbox (lime me    ) will just be screwed. I might just have to blow some money just to go buy an Xbox 360 just for this game. But then my mom would harp about that forever. Not that it is her business. After all, it will be money I earned at work.
-
Yea I know it angers me too! I feel like spamming namco til the make ace combat 6 skies of liberation for ps2! But still spamming them probbaly won't help. I want an xbox360!!!!!
-
talking about Xbox 360, my own showed the three lights of doom two days ago and now going to a repair shop today.
Three red lights - Means that there is a serious fault in the system and needs repair ASAP. it really annoying that it happened but lucky I can get it repaired :)

The PS2 is an old system...why should they offer immediate support for it? It's like having Nintendo create a new game that works in the Gamecube. Why limit to old technology? The people giving them money and support to create these games do so for them to make profits selling new systems. You'll live. I've lived without Melee since I moved out of my dorm with my old roommate.
