Hi,
I have an important question. Does any member of the GOF own or have access to a DvD of the 2003 movie "Gangs of New York"?
Thing is that next week I will hold a presentation at the university in which one matter about that movie might be imporatant or rather about the possible deleted scenes on the DvD.
If anyone here has access to a DvD of the movie I would greatly appreciate if you could tell me if it is true that among the deleted scenes in the bonus materials on the DvD there is a scene in which Leonardo DiCaprio asks an African American character not to participate in the impending Draft Riots because those are likely to turn against African Americans. Can anyone confirm that there is such a scene among the deleted scenes on the DvD?

Does anyone have the DvD? I'm kind of surprised that so far the internet (the INTERNET! :p) hasn't provided any answers however much I am googling with all key words that might help.

I don't have the DVD but i have seen the movie before.

So did I, but what I am really hunting for is information on whether or not there is indeed a deleted scene existing in which Amsterdam (the character played by Leonardo DiCaprio) tells Jimmy Spoils (the African American character) not to participate in the draft riots because they would be fairly racist (as indeed the historical New York draft riots were while the movie without the scene in question only indirectly aludes to this and interprets the riots more like a struggle of poor against rich).

I had the DVD, and now I own the Blu Ray.

Great!
Can you tell me if there is any deleted scene on the DvD or the Blue Ray that involves Amsterdam (Leonardo DiCabrio) telling Jimmy Spoils (the African American character played by Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) not to participate in the draft riots?
You would really help me a lot with that information Daddytops2009 :yes

That's awesome he needs help. Please tell him if that part is in the movie.

Indeed I do. If I knew about whether or not this scene indeed exists on the DvD or the Blue Ray before the presentation I will hold this thursday that would really help me a lot indeed :yes

Sorry, I can't help it.

You mean you don't know whether or not there is this scene on the Blue Ray you own or was on the DvD you owned?

I have the soundtrack but not the film. I did see it when it was released on DVD, and I vaguely recall seeing a deleted scene in which Leo DiCaprio's character warns an African American character (also DiCaprio's character's best friend) about the riots. I could be wrong though. However, the character was not only the sole African American character shown in the Draft Riots scene, but he was also lynched. I'm not 100% certain about the existence of the deleted scene, but I have a strong gut instinct saying that I remember actually viewing such a scene.
