Title: My New Internet Provider
Post by: pokeplayer984 on July 10, 2011, 09:53:53 AM
So, I bet you guys are wondering just what connection I'll have when I get it set up at my new place.

My provider is... Comcast! :)

I was able to get quite a good deal.  I'll be at 25Mbps. (Best connection I could afford) I also decided to bundle it with cable. (There is plenty I watch on TV.  I won't be using all 120 channels I'll be getting, but I'll use what I can.) So yeah, I'll have quite a great thing going here.

I'm sure I'm going to love it! :)

You should drop the speed to 8Mbps.  Regular people with only one or two computers in the house will see NO difference in speed between 8Mbps and 1,000,000Mbps.  At least, not in 2011.  Let me put it this way.  Most websites can't serve content faster than 512Kbps.  Really good sites with tons of resources like Microsoft can offer close to 2Mbps.  Unless you're like me and have a ton of computers on at all times and host your own websites, paying for any more than 8Mbps is just a waste.

I think I'll talk with the guy when he comes in to my new home on Tuesday and see if he can set me up with a slower connection if that's the case.

To be honest, because of the location, there aren't many options given to me, sadly.  So yeah, I'll see what I can do. :)

Those are impressive speeds. Are they available on all of U.S. territory connected by telephone cable, or only in certain large cities? Such speeds are nowhere to be found in Croatia, not even in the capital city.

I'm also enjoying my cable connection.  I can't believe all I have.

Local Channels

And that's to only name a few.

There's no question asked.  I'm keeping this. :)

Well, need to get some other things.

See ya later!
