I know there's a fear topic around here somewhere, but for the sake of time I'll post this topic.
Name any fears you have that might be considered strange.
For instance, I have a fear that my head will get stuck in the couch cushions and I'll suffocate.
-
I have a fear of dead bugs. I don't mind them as much if they're alive, but if the bug (grasshopper, ant, spider, etc) is dead, I'm more wary. It's their unblinking eyes. It feels like they're staring at me.
Not sure if there's a name for that, but I did come up with one of my own that combines "fear of insects" and "fear of dead things". Necroentomophobia
-
Spiral Staircases. I dunno why, but I cannot stand them! Just something about the way that they seem to go on forever, and you can never see where you're going any more than a few feet.
So creepy to me. It's even worse if it's a really narrow staircase, or you can see inbetween the steps.
-
To branch off of that, glass stairs freak me out. It's bad enough I have a fear of falling from high heights (no problem with actual high heights at all), and seeing below me while I ascend just makes it worse.
-
I have a fear of static electricity, everyday at school, before I'd touch my locker of just the lock, I'd do one of those "Touch something else, get a discharge" things.
-
I don't like static shocks either. What I typically do is touch something very quickly to get it done and over with.

Do you also get the whole thing where when you're high up, you get freaked out by looking UP, rather than down?
-
I can't stand dead spiders too.
Especially those with very long legs at end of summer.
-
Another thing that makes me uncomfortable is big rooms with high ceilings. I think it's partially due to my fear of heights.
-
Bees, wasps, and Hornets
Because I'm allergic to their stings
-
For some unknown reason, I'm really scared of sharp objects :!. I can't even chop food without feeling nervous about the knife I'm using. I am also fearful of havin' others' blood of me due to the possibility of disease transmission.
-
Elevators. I have been on them countless times, but I still don't 100% trust them. They always make a bunch of noise when they move and sound like they're just going to break down any second.

As a matter of fact, yes I do. I have a fear of falling up  so looking up while high up is definitely fear inducing for me.

You're more likely to die from a fall down the stairs than get hurt or killed in an elevator, actually. Elevators have so many safety features, including something on the bottom to cushion the fall. While I'm not saying it's impossible, it's just very very unlikely for someone to die in an elevator-related accident.

I'm personally afraid of monkeys becoming super intelligent and taking over the earth or spreading a globewide rage virus.
On a serious note, I'm still afraid of the dark sometimes. I'm 26.

Chef boyardee cans
Every time I open them, I always manage to get cut by the lid.
-
Mannequins. They scare the hell out of me when I'm in a store. I'd think it's a person at the corner of my eye only to see it be one of these things
-

What about other cans?
-
I have a fear of flesh eating bacteria. Are there any that aggressively attack living cells?

Any other can that you'd need a can opener to open.

I'm sure there are. I can't think of any at the moment, though.

I fear all cans. I fear that someone will throw me in a bathtub full of can lids. I just made myself shudder.

Although I am very spiritual, I have a fear of being in houses in which someone had been murdered in :crazy. Mostly due to the overwhelming paranormal presences I feel if and when I'm in those places. However, if I'm in a house where someone died of natural causes, the paranormal presence isn't as strong or scary in any manner.
-
I have a fear of going in circles. Well not strictly circles, but a repeated pattern, like around the same block multiple times. It's bad enough that I will try to get out of a car I know is going to go in circles, and if I can't, I panic.
-
I used to have a fear of any ride where you end up upside down in the process.
-
I don't mind big spiders or small spiders, but I find medium ones disgusting.
-
I hate being upside down, especially outside. It feels like I'm going to fall down, even though gravity tells me otherwise. This fear is also what influences my fear of high ceilings.
-
I'm also terrified of deadly firearms, even though I've never used one . Non-deadly ones like paintball and BB guns I'm fine with, but not ones that can kill.
-
Insects. You know the ones. Grasshoppers, Praying Mantis, Stick Insects, Moths, to name some anyway. Bees shall also be counted....only cause I'm afraid to get stung by them. The other ones....cause they're just damn well creepy *shudders*
-
I have a fear of running in slow motion. I know it will never happen, but still.
-
It's official now: The Slenderman.
I know he's just an internet myth and all, but that doesn't make him any less terrifying to me. I used to just find him intriguing with some sort of creepy fascination. But now I'm genuinely scared of him.
-
I'm not scared of insects.
Slugs, spiders and frogs gives me the creeps, but not snakes.
-
I hate heights, which is really bizarre because I love roller coasters. I guess the expression of combating your fears by doing it applies here.
-
Although I love both cats and dogs, I tend to be more apprehensive around cats, mostly when it comes to picking them up. To be specific, I am afraid of picking up cats. I keep thinking that they'll yowl and claw at my face and arms if I try to. While there are exceptions, like Felix and Pretty Face, for the most part, I'm scared to pick up a cat. I am afraid to even pick up Sinatra, and he's the family pet and he doesn't even bite when you pick him up.
-
I'm really scared of rocking chairs. Or any type of chair you lean down in. I think they're going to fall down and I'm going to die. I start screaming about an inch into leaning back. They just really scare me. -_-
-
I get really freaked out by parasites, like tapeworms, ascaris, roundworms, etc. I hate the thought of getting those, and I've gotten into the habit of detoxing my system twice a year to get rid of any possible parasites, among other reasons like keeping my liver and kidneys healthy :p.
-
Okay, I used to have a fear of staying in a car for more than 2 hours, especially is there's a traffic jam, even if I'm in no hurry to get there.
Now, I have a fear of riding an escalator, but I can climb stairs just fine (except for the one where I nearly fell down) which makes it even weirder, because I've tried falling down the stairs, but never on an escalator.

I, too, get freaked out at the thought of parasites invading my body. Speaking of, a puppy we rescued had some and he did his business outside. When we brought him in, I guess he had passed one and it was still on his rear. Anyways, we found a roundworm on his bed. It was disgusting and very disturbing to see. We immediately had him de-wormed. :x
I have an irrational fear of losing teeth. This is fueled by nightmares about such an event. I remember having a dream where my teeth started falling out. I woke up and ran to the bathroom to see if I still had them. I don't know where the fear originated, but it's a strong fear that haunts me through my dreams.
-
Space. More specifically, drifting through the emptiness of it.

I have a rather extreme fear of respiratory ailments. This is probably a direct result of my prior experience with respiratory infections when I was a young child. Until I had my adenoid (pharyngeal tonsil) surgically removed when I was 10 years old, I had recurring respiratory, sinus, and ear infections throughout my childhood. In fact, I was sick (at least mildly) almost as often as I was healthy during that time. When you add to the mix that my respiratory capacity is greatly reduced due to my premature birth and that I had sever complications due to some of those illnesses... Yeah... Lets just say that whenever I get the common cold that I am confronted with rather unpleasant memories that I would rather forget.
-
I have a rational, if rather extreme, fear of being betrayed by anyone I get close to. Which is why I adamantly refuse to make real friends, or even really talk to actual people.
Suppose it makes sense, since just about every person I have ever called a friend has tried to hurt or kill me, just about.
-
Hmm... I have fears, but none I would call too bizarre, really.
Well... sometimes I'm somewhat afraid of people who have or can ridicule me, or people who corner me into social, group card/board games. I've had bad experiences of people years younger than me saying crude or mean things about me and laughing about it, only for me to say nothing about it back.
-
I don't like touching metal fences because I'm always nervous they'll be electrified.
I also hate balloons :oops
-
I've starting fearing that our computers will go Skynet on us.
-
I need to see a ground beneath my feet, otherwise I'm getting terrified D:
-
My fear is somewhat similar to WeirdRaptor's. I'm not afraid of machines with Skynet-like capabilities (even though they can be built in theory), but of small groups of humans using machines of much more modest capabilities to eliminate the vast majority of available jobs, leaving most of mankind to eat grass or dirt.

^ This is a fear that I have heard again and again from several books that I have recently read. Both Jeremy Rifkin's book "The End of Work" and the "The Lights in the Tunnel" (http://www.thelightsinthetunnel.com/LIGHTSTUNNEL.PDF) by Martin Ford elaborate upon what would happen as jobs are lost to automation and the cash flow within the economy from the means of production to laborers is shut down. In both cases they advocated a guaranteed basic income through tax revenue that would potentially remedy the cash flow problem, but lead to others (no incentive to work even amongst those with the capability, for example). Needless to say, if either of them are correct then capitalism will either have to change radically in the next century or so, or else be replaced with something else.
