Title: Regarding ANY Season 2 topics.
Post by: Petrie. on July 05, 2009, 09:55:14 AM
Unless you have valid, CONFIRMED information regarding the Land Before Time, do not start Season 2 topics saying the series will resume or episode titles or any unofficial garbage like that.  This only confuses people.

As of July 5, 2009 we know that the LBT offices in Universal are CLOSED and there is no new LBT material being made or produced at this present time.  This means there is no season 2 and no LBT 14.

Do NOT post information from these sites because they are unreliable sources:

- wikipedia
- imdb
- tv.com
- Land Before Time wiki

Your post will be removed immediately if information is posted from these sites.

Yeah, that's a good way to do things.

What's the situation now with the offices? I don't expect anymore TV series episodes (and have no idea WHY people on the wiki are thinking that because Sprout is becoming a Universal  network of some kind that it'll lead to new episodes...really, at this late date? Not likely, folks) but is the production office for the movies back open?

Also, I wonder if the original poster could edit their post at this late date, since we do have movie 14 now.

Another mod could update the OP, since they have that power. Petrie, who was one of the forum's founders, isn't around much anymore, so it would have to be some mod whose more active nowadays, like Rhombus.

And we don't know the situation with the offices right now, do we? They did make one new movie, but there's been no word if there will be anything else coming.

I found something that gives a higher chance that there could be another season.http://www.cartoonbrew.com/tv/nbcuniversal...ids-150520.html (http://www.cartoonbrew.com/tv/nbcuniversal-launching-new-channel-universal-kids-150520.html)

Sprout (the channel that currently airs the TV series episodes) is being replaced by Universal Kids in September, which might mean that another season of the show could be made to help boost the popularity of the new channel. This means that the chance of another season of the Land Before Time TV series is much higher. It would be a good decision anyways. It would really help with starting the channel off strong.

What do you think about this? Do you think that we might get another season to be aired on this new channel, or do you think that it won't boost the chances of another season at all?

Also,

I'm pretty sure that the 14th film was made due to Jurassic World's popularity, so maybe another movie will come out in late 2018 or 2019 after the release of Jurassic World 2.

hmm, I doubt think LBT universe would be used to raise popularity of any channel...
who knows, though...

and hey, wait. Should we post in this thread? I think you can create new one or find similar thread somewhere there.

Well we did the same things for the thread "Regarding ANY LBT 14 Topics", and it had like 20 something pages until it was locked when the trailer came out...so maybe we could do it on this thread until there is another season for the TV series. I don't know.

There are three things I think about when I see this YouTube channel that uploaded the TV series episodes in 1080p.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGTPGtMd8ydRNsTcKaDwF1w (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGTPGtMd8ydRNsTcKaDwF1w)

1. Could it be an official channel? Who else has access to 1080p feeds? The channel links other official channels as well.

2. I find it pretty amusing that they used the wiki background on their channel. The Littlefoot avatar also includes it :lol

2.1: Even Israel Barber's channel is on Related Channels xD

3. The thing I find most interesting about it though is the playlists. There are three playlists.
One for every LBT video.
One for all of the TV series episodes.
And one for...Season 1? Why is there a playlist for season 1? Are they hiding something from us?

And why does the channel exist in the first place? Interesting...most interesting...

Post by: Sovereign on August 07, 2017, 02:54:36 PM
A very nice find in itself but i doubt it's an official channel. The "about" section says it is a UK channel and the description of LBT refers only to the original film, not the TV series. Also, why would Universal suddenly upload the episodes to Youtube after a long campaign to delete them? Even then, it's nice to see the videos in that quality, at least until they get removed. :)
Title: Regarding ANY Season 2 topics.
Post by: Hypno on August 07, 2017, 03:35:43 PM
I was thinking that they gave up on that or something; the amount of uploads was increasing really quickly.
Title: Regarding ANY Season 2 topics.
Post by: Hypno on August 08, 2017, 06:38:25 PM
Well actually, I feel even more confident that this is official. There's NO way that someone ripped these episodes. They had to be in possession of Universal property; there are no logos on the screen at all.
These videos are also getting so many views; there must be somewhere Universal is linking them. The Hidden Canyon alone has over 343,000 views now, and increasing fast. No other video (even the others in rather high quality) got nearly this many for any of the episodes.
Also, they're airing the show on Sprout still. It could be that they're deleting other channels that are uploading the episodes to REDIRECT web traffic.
Title: Regarding ANY Season 2 topics.
Post by: vonboy on August 08, 2017, 07:37:32 PM
It's starting to look official, but this is still confusing to me. Why would Universal put them up on youtupe? They'd make almost no money from it. (From the views the whole channel has gotten so far, they've probably gotten something in the neighborhood of a $1,000 in ad revenue) That'd be nice for one person running a youtube channel, but that's literaly nothing for a huge company like that.

surely they'd get more money by putting them up on netflix or Hulu or something similar?

unless it's to bring traffic/interest to something else Universal?
Title: Regarding ANY Season 2 topics.
Post by: rhombus on August 08, 2017, 07:48:39 PM
This is very curious indeed.  It looks official, though I had my doubts at first. They seem to be uploading files once a day... and Without any TV watermarks on the episodes. I guess it could be to boost interest, and what is curious is the playlist for "season 1 episodes".  Which would seem to imply something else is on the way, as we only have one season thus far, but I fail to see them making much money off of any kind of reboot of the television series, and the last film bombed quite badly due to the Walmart exclusivity deal.  Perhaps they are trying to hype dinosaurs in time for Jurassic World 2?
Title: Regarding ANY Season 2 topics.
Post by: Hypno on August 08, 2017, 08:34:43 PM
I find this to be very interesting...I've been saying that a lot. The episodes are getting tons of views, so if their dinosaur hype is intended it is sure working.
And if LBT XV and Season 2 happen after Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, you can go ahead and say "Jurassic World revived LBT and is keeping it on life support".
Another sequel to Fallen Kingdom is also planned actually.

On the topic of 1080p though; the series was NOT built for it. I've found so many animation errors with HD quality it is ridiculous.
Just at the end of The Hidden Canyon, I found about 11 animation errors. Red Claw standing near the Great Valley residents at the end of the episode was the hardest to spot, but it was WELL worth it :lol :lol :lol

This is a pretty cool find! If it is official then this seems like a pretty safe way of gauging interest as there isn't a readily proper way of watching these episodes nowadays so they're not really losing out on anything here. The results look promising so far given how recent this is. I'll stay cautiously optimistic on this.

I agree it's a lot more apparent. I guess that was one benefit of watching these on sketchy 480p at best videos scattered on Youtube. :lol

The Universal Kids website is now up, and look what TV series is there. (http://www.universalkids.com/#) The Land Before Time, yay! :D
Just scroll down and you'll see it.
Well, let's get into the description of it:

"The Land Before Time: The Series is a welcome continuation of the much-beloved world made popular by the hugely successful movie franchise. The series features many of the movies’ most popular characters, including Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, Spike, and Chomper in all new adventures in this timeless family classic."

I find it odd how it's the only show there that is shown that hasn't aired new episodes in at least 2016.
There's also additional evidence for that YT channel uploading the episodes being official...the image they show on the Universal Kids website is the same image used in the outro of the episodes on the YT channel. And I've never seen the image before the YT channel started posting the episodes.
I also find it odd how it's titled "The Series". This curiosity is growing on me, it really is, especially after that official YT channel, and seeing that "Season 1" playlist.
It could just be a coincidence, but who knows! We'll just have to wait and see, in time :)
Feel free to express your thoughts on it showing up on the upcoming channel, Universal Kids' website. I could make this its own topic, if anyone wants me to.

That's a great find! I think it's easy to believe that I truly hope this to lead to something but as you said, we can only wait. At least it's good to see that Universal hasn't forgotten LBT after JOTB. As for the picture, I've seen it a long time ago already but that doesn't prove anything against the Youtube channel.

Rip Ruby though: she's the only main character not listed in the description. :cry

HUH. The interesting thing about this to me is that it's a promotion for "Universal Kids," which appears to be a new TV network going live in September, probably connected to their parent company's recent acquisition of Dreamworks animation (they're certainly making use of those properties). The fact that they've added LBT as part of their opening line-up definitely makes me think it's on the slate for revival.

This is looking very optimistic! While the T.V. series had a lot of flaws (like when Petrie almost killed his mom and NOBODY CARED) as a whole it added a lot to the lore of the LBT world, and I found most of the episodes a more valuable part of the series than the 13th and 14th movies.

I just don't see JOTB being the final epitaph, as Malte had said so long ago back in 2015. After everything that's been going on...they can't just be reairing old episodes from a 2007 show can they?
Title: Regarding ANY Season 2 topics.

You would think that if this YT channel wasn't official that Universal would have cracked down by now since September is coming up real soon. In fact it wasn't that long ago that the channel I watched all the episodes back in March had the videos taken down.

I like the story speaker episode for this very reason. It gives a good outlook on Longnecks' traditions and such.

The e-mail address linked to that YouTube channel with all of that HD footage is jack.day@wildbrain.com, according to Jack's LinkedIn page, he's "Senior (YouTube?) Channel Manager at WildBrain".

Domain info about wildbrain.com says that it's managed and hosted by Interactive DHX Media.

Domain lookup info here:https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=wildbrain.com (https://whois.icann.org/en/lookup?name=wildbrain.com)

According to the WildBrain website itself, they're "the media company managing the digital rights of some of the most popular children’s television series ever.
We’re part of DHX Media and manage a collection of over 12,500 half hours of high-quality children’s TV".
That's a pretty good explanation as to why and how they have such good quality video footage, and why the videos are still up on YouTube.

DHX Media:
"DHX Media is a Canadian media production, distribution and broadcasting company.
Formed in 2006 by the merger of Decode Entertainment and the Halifax Film Company,
the company is a prominent producer and international distributor of children's television."

I'm not that good with legal stuff, but I found this interesting :DD

It would be ironic if that was the only episode that DHX Media doesn't own the rights to.  :p

But thanks for the information, zero-point.  That information that you gleamed from the domain name sheds quite a bit of light on the context here.  The thought of looking up the channel's domain name registration had not even crossed by mind, so that is excellent thinking and investigative work on your part. :)

It's blocked in the U.S, yes. I'm not sure why, but it being a Canadian company might be a factor.

If you're not from the U.S, you're in luck. I'm not :p
It's possible that viewing in the U.S isn't allowed because Universal Kids' main viewers are from the United States, and the show is currently airing on the channel.

Try using a VPN or a proxy to hide your real IP address and bypass any region-locking. I can only recommend Windscribe, as they keep no logs of your activity (more on that here https://windscribe.com/privacy (https://windscribe.com/privacy) ), and if you register, they give you 15 gigabytes of data to work with every month. They have servers all around the globe, so speed won't be an issue. It simply works, as intended. It's a really useful tool to get rid of geo-restrictions and enjoy the internet with virtually no limitations.

Region-locking sucks. It shouldn't be a thing, really.

Another update:
The "Universal Kids" channel still uses the "Sprout" name for its daytime programming. Information for the Land Before Time TV show has been moved to the Sprout website. Here's a link to the LBT page:http://www.sproutonline.com/shows/land-before-time (http://www.sproutonline.com/shows/land-before-time)

What is truly odd about this is that LBT has only a single timeslot daily: 2:30 AM. This timeslot is listed on the Universal Kids website as part of their programming (none of the other Sprout shows are), and is not actually included in the Sprout programming line-up (their professed on-air hours are 3AM to 6PM). I don't think LBT's abysmal timeslot and general "homelessness" between the two sides of the channel bode well for the prospects of a second season.

That channel is already releasing the same episodes for the third time. I can't even begin to understand what that poster is up to but at least that best moment compilation is something new. It'll be interesting to see if the other characters get their own videos.

I have some breaking news guys! :D

...

...the TV series is now removed from the Universal Kids channel and website. I guess it looks like we aren't getting a second season :(

Well, things didn't look too promising in the past months in any case. Even then, this development is really disappointing but I have to wonder why Universal first added the series to the channel and then removed it.

Well I do expect a cash-in or two from Universal after JW Fallen Kingdom and its sequel so another LBT sequel is still possible.

I guess I shouldn't have been so lazy and actually finished downloading all the episodes when I had the chance. :p

It's not too much longer until Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom so we'll see what happens I guess. The whole event was pretty exciting though.

Well, that's quite disappointing, but foreseeable to be honest.

Well you can still download them from YouTube by using KeepVid.  The television episodes on there no longer seem be region locked.

I think you’re mistaken. The YouTube channel is still there, don’t worry :)

The episodes ARE still available on YouTube. There's an official(?) "Land Before Time" YouTube channel that has them; it shouldn't be that hard to find.

Is this a fake or season 2 is already confirmed?

I actually checked both the reference links in the footnotes and Land Before Time is not in either of them, which is rather telling because just by using Ctrl-F for the show that is in the cell right above it, Where's Waldo, is indeed receiving a continuation from both those footnote links.

Basically it is probably an overenthusiastic edit, anyone can edit Wikpedia. :lfsadface :areyouserious

No, it is very likely fake. I checked everything on the LBT Wikipedia page and recent changes made by other people. Wikipedia is not a reliable source as anyone can edit it.

Neither of the two sources posted next to the second season claim on Wikipedia actually contain any information concerning a second season of the Land Before Time. The most that I have been able to find elsewhere is a tweet from NBC mentioning that the Land Before Time in some capacity will be on their new Peacock service. But this could merely mean that the films will be available for streaming on that service.

I noticed that too and while I would love for their to be a Season 2, it is most likely fake. The fact it says "awaiting debut" instead of "pending" raises red flags to me. Still, I will give this the benefit of the doubt and wait until May 13 when this Season 2 is allegedly going to debut.

I found out about this through a user on the wiki bringing light to it a few days ago and found out that there wasn't anything to this pretty quickly; as has been said, neither of the sources provided on the article mention anything about The Land Before Time in any capacity.

I don't see much reason to look into this as anything more than another example of Wikipedia being open for anyone to edit.

I would be elated if on May 13th there was LBT Series Season 2 Trailer or announcement. Here is to hold out hope.  :OhYou

it's 99% likely that it's a fake though. Still, I appreciate the momentary excitement lol

I've learned not to get my hopes up too early if something of interest catches my eye. That said, not everyone will go for this approach and I was guilty of it in my youth as well. I've come a long way since then and nowadays it's almost impossible to have me convinced that something like this will be coming without providing a reliable source.

I'm pretty much the same. Fake/fanmade stuff gets confused with facts on wikis all the time. I mean, searching "Land Before Time XV" on the web brings up five different LBT XV wiki pages, but none of them are real movies. That kind of thing is why I can't bring myself to even hope that any LBT announcements are true unless I can find confirmation from a reliable source.

Like I said, don't get your hopes up because it will only make the imminent letdown all the more awkward.

Wikipedia can be a place to annoy certain fans who read pages of their favouite shows since people can easily edit it to say that it's going to happen even though most likely will not happen.

If they do, the new voice of Littlefoot has been found and recorded.

The chances are very, very low but hope exists for a reason. Just expect nothing though.

May 13th has arrived and, from what I can tell, there are no new episodes on Peacock - I don't have the service myself but a user on the wiki who does have it has pretty heavily suggested that there's nothing, judging by his response to me removing the mention of The Land Before Time from the article that started all of this (which was immediately reverted, re-removed by a fellow admin and was again reverted... it's not on there anymore as I write, but that might not stay that way for long).

I think it's safe to say that this was a false alarm - I'm not calling off the chances of something TLBT-related coming to the service post-official release, mind.

The fact that Universal never made any announcements also leads me to believe this thing was fake.

The post got removed from the listings so no, Land Before Time Season 2 was just somebody wanting to probably troll fans knowing it wasn't happening anyway.

Well someone had edited wikipeda saying that peacock will be streaming a 2nd season and guess what? The references they provided were the exact same as last time (you know, the references that don't even mention "land before time")  :bang

I have since corrected it
