The Party Room / Leave *Insert name here* Alone!!
« on: March 30, 2010, 10:30:03 PM »
I'm sure by now we've all seen the ever popular Leave Britney Alone!! video. Just in case you haven't
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHmvkRoEowc

Now first off, I just want to say that this game isn't to ridicule Chris Crocker or Britney Spears. It's just in good fun...although the video is still really funny.

So how do you play? Well it's pretty simple. Just think of a person(real or fictional), and well, basically just rant about why they should be left alone. Of course, be sure to either censor or go easy on the swearing. Here's an example:

"AND HOW F'N DARE ANYONE OUT THERE MAKE FUN OF MICAHEL BAY AFTER ALL HE'S BEEN THROUGH?! HE LOVES AMERICA, HE NEVER WENT THROUGH A DIVORCE! HE HAD NO F'N KIDS, HIS GIRLFRIENDS TURNED OUT TO BE SUPERMODELS...ALL YOU PEOPLE CARE ABOUT IS...EXPLOSIONS AND MAKING MONEY OFF OF HIM! HE'S A HUMAN!!! WHAT YOU DON'T REALIZE IS THAT MICHAEL'S MAKING YOU ALL THIS MONEY AND ALL YOU DO IS WRITE A BUNCH OF CRAP ABOUT HIM! HE HASN'T DONE A MOVIE IN ALMOST A YEAR! HIS LATEST MOVIE WAS CALLED TRANSFORMERS 2 BECAUSE YOU PEOPLE ARE TRANSFORMING INTO GIANT A$$HOLES!! LEAVE MICHAEL ALONE!! YOU'RE LUCKY HE EVEN DIRECTS FOR YOU B@SSTURDS. LEAVE MICHAEL ALONE!! Please... Roger Ebert wrote a review about Transformers 2 and said if Michael Bay was a director he would have made a good movie no matter what...Speaking of good, when is it ever good to publically CRITICIZE someone who made so much money?! LEAVE MICHAEL ALONE!!"

Okay, you get the idea. Again, this is just in good fun.

General Land Before Time / Why Do People Hate the Sequels So Much?
« on: March 27, 2010, 01:18:37 AM »
I've read a lot of people's opinions on the sequels on sites like Thatguywiththeglasses, IMDb, and RetroJunk. And  a lot of the comments on them pretty much say the same thing. "The sequels ruined the original!!!!111, Why did they make so many?!!!!, These movies are godawful!!!, etc." I get that not everyone is going to like these but comments like "These movies were made by Satan!" or "These are a crime against humanity!" (Well not exactly that dramatic but you get the point) are just ludicrous. Sure the sequels aren't masterpieces but they are far from being as bad as some make them out to be(Well, some of the sequels. Others are just that bad). Now will they ever replace the original? Of course not! And I don't think that's what they're trying to do. Are they as good as the original? Depends on who you ask.

If these movies were really as bad as sites like RottenTomatoes makes them out to be, then why were there so many? Obviously kids were enjoying them if they made so many films. And a lot of popular characters like Chomper, Ali and Pterano were from the sequels so these films must have done something right.

Now I do think that the sequels could have offered a lot more. Littlefoot and Chomper's relationship, for example, could have had a LOT more depth behind it. Littlefoot meeting his dad could have been handled in a number of different ways. And LBT 13 could have had a different plot entirely. Yes the sequels are flawed, moreso than the original but that doesn't make them bad. It just makes them imperfect, just like every other movie. Nothing is perfect.

I think people need to ease up on the sequel hatred. You may not like the sequels but there are people that do, me being one of them. Besides, there are much worse things that kids could be watching than cute dinosaurs singing.

My only question is how long until we've got some 14 year old goth emo girl saying how much she loves LBT despite never having seen it?

The Party Room / If Your Pets Could Say One Thing to You
« on: March 19, 2010, 07:05:10 PM »
Imagine that your pets were given the chance to say or ask you one thing. What would they say or ask and what would your response be? You don't have to list your pets' names if you don't want to but do let us know what kind of pet you have. For example:

Sol(My first cat's name): Why do you keep petting me when I'm trying to sleep?

My response: Because you're just too cute!

Kenny(My second cat): Why do you yell at me when I want to come back in the house(He was a stray and loves being outside)?

My response: Because you're outside, meowing your head off at 2:30 in the morning and I'm trying to sleep!

Silver Screen / Megamind
« on: March 18, 2010, 09:18:57 PM »
I have to admit, as much I hate Dreamworks, I was actually looking forward to this. The story sounded a lot more intresting and original than How to Train Your Dragon.

Quote
Megamind is the most brilliant supervillain the world has ever known. And the least successful. Over the years, he has tried to conquer Metro City in every imaginable way. Each attempt, a colossal failure thanks to the caped superhero known as "Metro Man," an invincible hero until the day Megamind actually kills him in the throes of one of his botched evil plans. Suddenly, Megamind has no purpose. A supervillain without a superhero. He realizes that achieving his life's ambition is the worst thing that ever happened to him. Megamind decides that the only way out of his rut is to create a new hero opponent called "Titan," who promises to be bigger, better and stronger than Metro Man ever was. Pretty quickly Titan starts to think it's much more fun to be a villain than a good guy . Except Titan doesn't just want to rule the world, he wants to destroy it. Now, Megamind must decide: can he defeat his own diabolical creation? Can the world's smartest man make the smart decision for once? Can the evil genius become the unlikely hero of his own story?

Now that sounds pretty cool right? I thought so too. I liked the idea of a supervillian having to become the hero. It's a refreshing idea in a cliched subgenre. I was actually planning to see this movie *Collective gasp from those reading* until I saw THIS

Thank you, Dreamworks. Thank you. I was actually looking forward to this! In 46 seconds, you shot down my hopes for this movie. Shot it, and then left a bloody mess all over the room. The jokes in this teaser were horrible, the butchering of an awesome AC/DC song was unforgiveable, the cast looks as if their names were picked out of a hat! Oh yeah, and the main villian looks bland and boring!

This better not really be the entire movie. No one could possibly fail THIS much! I'm still hoping against hope that this will actually turn out good but right now, it looks like another typical Dreamworks movie, poop jokes and unnessecary dance numbers galore!!

General Land Before Time / How is Doc still alive?
« on: February 16, 2010, 03:03:16 AM »
As much as I enjoyed Land Before Time 6, one thing seriously confused me: Near the end of the movie, as Grandpa Longneck and the kids are heading to Saurus Rock, Grandpa Longneck confesses that he doesn't exactly know the way and that he had only heard about it in stories told by his grandpa. Now how is that possible? If Doc is the original Lone Dinosaur, there's no way he could still be alive(I think Cera even points that out at some point in the movie) especially if he was around Grandpa Longneck's Grandpa's age.

So that got me to thinking. What if Doc isn't exactly the Lone Dinosaur from Grandpa Longneck's story? He could  be the son of the Lone Dinosaur from the story. Which, in turn, would explain why he was stronger than Grandpa Longneck who was supposedly "younger" than him(It's seriously a lot to buy that Doc is supposed to be so much older yet he's somehow stronger than GL). Or the other two possibilities:

It's simply a huge, gaping plothole...OR...

Doc is a Highlander.

Silver Screen / James Cameron's Titanic No Longer #1
« on: February 04, 2010, 01:31:30 PM »
They said it couldn't be done. They said "nothing would ever beat Titanic".  Well, in a startling upset(Okay not really  :lol  ), Avatar has toppled Titanic for Highest grossing film Worldwide http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/world/ and domestically http://boxofficemojo.com/alltime/domestic.htm

I find it pretty cool that one director's movies would both end up being the highest grossing films to date. To be honest, I'm a little jealous of Cameron. I don't plan to be a film director but still, that's an impressive feat. Congrats to Cameron and here's looking forward to Avatar 2!

Visual Art / Animeboye's Art
« on: January 31, 2010, 06:54:03 PM »
Mostly all I draw are my characters. However, on occasion, I'll do some fanart. Here are some of my favorite drawings as well as some recent ones. Be warned, for some of the stuff I draw is weird  :lol

MY CHARACTERS:

Another favorite of mine http://animeboye.deviantart.com/art/Rykyu-...ikiar-135108413

Now I am a self taught artist so any proportional and anatomy mistakes weren't intentional. One thing I have a lot of trouble doing are hands and feet. Feet especially. With my characters' hands, they usually end up being too small or the fingers look too weird. Whenever I would try to draw feet, they would, ironically, end up looking like hands. My strongest point, in my opinion, is the detail on the characters' clothing. When I look over a completed piece, I usually find that the part that stands out the most is the clothing. I'm also pretty good with scenery.

So feel free to look if you want. Let me know what you guys think and how I may be able to improve.

The Fridge / Just Finished My First Week of College
« on: January 28, 2010, 02:06:37 AM »
Well just as the title says, I just finished my first entire week of college.

Monday I had to go in for math, only to find that the class won't even be in session until the 1st of Febuary. Normally I would have had math on Monday from 5 to 7 and Wednesday at the same time. So my college experiences didn't truly start until the following day when I went in for Figure Drawing. When I went in, I was reluctant to find that I was the only kid in the whole class! The rest where all old people with the exception of one other person who I guessed must have been in his fourties. While I was a little nervous at first, I actually came to enjoy it and even posed for the class(And no, I didn't have to pose nude :lol  ).

And so today, I had class yet again. Only this time it was Prepatory Art which was being held off campus at a senior center. And guess what? I was yet again the only kid in the entire class! Except this time, it really was only old folks. We all did our own projects, some doing water colors while others did sketches. I myself drew namely my eye style since I wasn't certain what else to do. It was an intresting experience and the old folks were all really nice, but I still felt like a fish outta water.

So now I have the next four days off and yet I feel a little sad. I don't know why. I just do...

LBT Projects / LBT/Kingdom Hearts comic title suggestions
« on: January 21, 2010, 05:48:10 PM »
For those of you who may have read my topic on an LBT world for Kingdom Hearts may know, I've said that I am going to be doing a comic based on the idea. The only problem is...I don't know what to call the darn thing! I have the entire story planned out and a couple pages drawn but I just don't know what I should title it. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'll be sure to credit whoever's title I like best.

Silver Screen / Golden Globes 2010
« on: January 18, 2010, 02:18:20 AM »
Tonight was the night of the 2010 Golden Globes. Here are the nominees and the winners http://www.goldenglobes.org/nominations/

Now as much as I liked Avatar, I don't think it deserved to win Best Picture. And this is coming from a James Cameron fan. It was a good movie, sure, but there were better films released in '09.

And I don't know about anyone else but I'm getting real tired of Pixar winning Best Animated Feature every single year. It's not even a category anymore(if it ever was), it's just these critics kissing Pixar's ass every year. We had some really great animated movies last year, two of which also brought back the style of traditional animation ala Princess and the Frog and Ponyo, both of which I thought were far superior to Up. Now I don't think Up is a bad movie. Actually I really enjoyed it and even loved it. I just think a different animated movie should have won this year.

My last problem with the Golden Globes is the Best Original Score. I'm sorry, but aside from Up and Where the Wild Things Are, the scores were just really generic. Up had a nice score but IMO, Where the Wild Things Are should have won in this department. "All is Love", while the singing wasn't the best it was  still a cute, haunting, memorable, and charming song. Up's was...It was good but not exactly as memorable as All is Love. But then again, these are just my opinions. What are yours?

General Land Before Time / Land Before Time and Kingdom Hearts
« on: November 16, 2009, 08:00:10 PM »
the games? I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks how awesome it would be to see Littlefoot and Sora fighting together. I know it probably wouldn't happen unless Square and Disney decided to do what Nintendo did for Brawl and add in a 3rd party world. Let's say they do put a Land Before Time world into a Kingdom Hearts game. Would they:

1.Give Sora a Dino Form? And if yes, what would he be? A Longneck, Threehorn, Spiketail, etc?

2. Who would he fight with? Most likely either Littlefoot or Cera IMO.

3. What movie would the world follow? Or would it just have its own story? And if so what would the story be about?

That's all I can think of right now. I already have my idea for an LBT world but I'd like to hear other's ideas. And feel free to add your own questions if you wish.

I seriously cannot wait to see this movie. I don't have any memories of reading the book, sadly but I do remember that it played a huge part in my childhood. So I'm not afraid to say that I am very anxious to see this. I mean, if a trailer can get me close to crying, I'll be sobbing like a baby during the movie.

EDIT: Forgot to mention. The movie comes out October 16th.

Sorry if these kind of topics aren't allowed. But I was wondering if there's any site I can go on to download Land Before Time songs onto my iPod. For awhile now I've been trying to get the song Peaceful Valley but I haven't had any luck. So if someone could help, it'd be greatly appreciated.

The Welcome Center / Nice to Meet Everyone
« on: March 24, 2009, 10:04:40 PM »
I had been reading posts on The Gang of Five for some time and until recently, have decided to join.

My name is Animeboye, but on DA, I'm commonly called Zobias. Of course they're not my real names, just  nicknames. I'm an eighteen year old who, after a few years, has gotten back into Land Before Time, which, was ironically the first movie I had ever seen. Since then, Littlefoot and the others have pretty much been with me my whole life.

Some other intrests of mine are rock music (usually indie rock or anything that doesn't sound too depressing), horror movies (even the bad ones  :lol  ), manga, and writing stories and drawing. I'm currently working on a comic series that I hope to one day publish.

I hope to get along with everyone here. If you want to know more about me, feel free to check out my Deviantart account. And of course, it's nice to meet everyone ^^
