The Fridge / T-rex vs. Spinosaurus dispute
« on: August 22, 2012, 10:43:04 PM »
One of the most annoying, if not outright outrageous, is the ongoing dispute between T-rex and Spinosaurus fans over what would win in a fight, generated by Jurassic Park III. I respect people's opinions and all, but personally, I can't stand to hear someone say 'Spino would whip T-rex, or T-rex would be torn apart by Spino'. It just is annoying, and whille I like both dinosaurs, I know for a fact T-rex would win. If there is anything in this world I know almost everything currently known to science, its dinosaurs, I can identify any dinosaur, from the tinyest Compsognathus, to the enourmous Brachiosaurus. Back on topic, the way a T-rex would win is this,

Jaw strength, T-rex has the most powerful jaw of any land animal ever known, and can easily break the neck of any dinosaur, Spinosaurus would get its neck or head crushed by the T-rex's powerful jaws.

Skull design, designed to take huge amounts of pressure, blunt, stocky, and strong, perfect to absorb the shock of a massive bite.

Tooth design, designedy for smashing and crushing, to crush anything caught in the mouth, while Spino's teeth are designed for gripping, and are very weak.

Intelligence, one of the most important factors, Tyrannosaurus Rex had, by dinosaur standards, a very powerful brain, it could outsmart the Spino.

Senses, it had extremely good sight, smell, and hearing, could use these to sense Spino from a distance, and ambush it.

I have nothing against those who like the Spino the best, but for them to say T-rex would get murdered by the Spino, that is pure wrong, no scientific facts there, plus the arms of the Spino are again designed for gripping, and they would have to get in very close to deal any damage, and if they did they would get destroyed by the strength of the T-rex's jaws.

These are scientific fact, and I have been studying dinosaurs since I was a kid, and know what I'm talking about. Again, I don't have anything against Spino fans, just wish they'd accept fact over fiction. What do you thin?

General Land Before Time / Spike's stupidity
« on: August 20, 2012, 07:07:20 PM »
I'm not trying to insult anyone who likes him, but isn't Spike an utter imbecile in the first 7 films? He always tries to eat something at the worst possible time, like in 1, he ate a weed when they were walking over FRICKING lava, and in 5, he tried to eat leaves on the log that they were using to get home, not even thinking that he might cause something to happen, which he did. Then there's a rather funny incident in 7 where there crossing a gorge on vines, and what does this idiot do? YUP! He eats through a vine, nearly killing them.

After 7, he seemed to have gotten much smarter, and I can't blame the incident in 8 where he ate snow, he never saw it before so he didn't know what it was, and in the TV series he finds a log that can bring water back into the valley. So he did evolve greatly, but in the first 7, he was an utter idiot most of the time.

General Land Before Time / Littlefoot's Stubborness
« on: August 20, 2012, 06:22:40 PM »
Lovable Littlefoot, the main character of the series, a kind hearted, sweet, innocent Apatosaurus, oh yeah, I forgot to say STUBBORN AS A MULE! Yes, a sweet, kind, lovable character is that stubborn. I don't hate Littlefoot very much, but his stubborness is what really gets to me.

Here are some examples, in 1, when he and Cera are hiding from Sharptooth, and Cera starts running, he yells its the wrong way, not considering that Cera may be running for her folks, and automatically assuming that the way back to his folks is safe. If he didn't scream its the wrong way, they might have gotten out safely.

Another is his stubborness when Cera tries to leave, he's hostile BEFORE she insults his mother, and tries to be a dictator and act that his word is final. That scene always irked me, and he thought his mother's word was right, as if it was a divine God's word, which it wasn't.

In 5, he automatically trusted Chomper blindly. I love Chomper of course, but he just blindly assumes he's friendly.

After 5, I don't recall any other incidents like this, until of course the TV series.

In the Search For the Sky Color Stones, he blindly believes that the Sky Color Stones are at the river, yet doesn't consider that they are more likely to be in caves. Honestly, I thought Littlefoot matured past this in 6.

History Section / What if Britain captured the Bismarck?
« on: August 20, 2012, 04:47:58 AM »
Hello, I was watching a documentary on the battleship Bismarck(possibly the most famous Axis Warship) and noticed that had Britain crippled the Bismarck, destroyed the bridge, and destroyed the guns, they could have siezed it, which would have been a pretty good catch, and infact replace the Hood. Of course German sailors might have scuttled it, but if they didn't Bismarck may have become a new British flagship. Anyone want to add to this?

The Fridge / Sharks
« on: August 18, 2012, 02:38:39 PM »
If anyone has seen the movie Jaws, then you definetly know sharks are not to be messed with, but the sharks that act like Jaws in real life, and there has only been one known, are very, very rare. The vast majority of sharks, even Great Whites, don't often attack humans, and the reason many do attack is because our surfboards make us look like seals or turtles, and that, plus a hungry White Shark is not a good combo.

Infact, people have been known to swim with Great Whites without getting attacked, this video will show you.

Of course, if you do this, respect it, move slowly, don't splash around, otherwise it could think you are wounded prey, and then you're in trouble. Great Whites prey mostly on Seals, Sea lions, Dolphins, Fish, and if they're hungry enough, their own offspring.

Swimming with the more aggressive Tiger and Bull Sharks are not recommended, and they will eat anything, even after discovering your not prey, they may continue to attack. Tigers have been found with nuts and bolts, trash, a suit of armor, and pretty much everything in between.

Bull Sharks are the most dangerous shark, and not only because they attack humans the most, but because they have been found as far up the Mississippi as Illinois, and there was ONE Jaws like incident in 1916, five people attacked, one survived, and two occurred up river.

Of course, never piss off any shark, or you're in a universe of trouble. Grey Reef Sharks hunch their body upwards, which is a sign the shark feels nervous or threatened. It is also reccommended not to swim with them in the morning or the night, when many sharks usually feed.

Their are five sharks known to attack humans more then any other, the Great White, Tiger Shark, Bull Shark, Blue Shark, and Oceanic Whitetip(reef Whitetips are not as dangerous.) Anyone want to ask a question on these, or discuss them?

The Written Word / An idea I have for another planet
« on: August 15, 2012, 04:57:34 PM »
This is about a planet I made up, and it includes dinosaurs and aliens, Xenomorphs, Predators, so on and so fourth. Any alien life form or prehistoric animal is generally included. It is alot like earth, with forests, deserts, grassland, savannah, mountains, oceans, and so on.

Aside from the normally familiar plants, there is alien flora like red mountain spike, a plant that grows high in mountains, and in the highest of forests, there are plants that act like plates, absorbing rainfall into their stems. But aside from the terrain, the planet is extremely dangerous, with so many types of dangerous creatures, plants, and other hazards.

There are two known sessile predators(life-forms that blend animal and plant traits), the Butchertree, and the forest Ghost Trap. For the Butchertree's victims, it is usually quick, but extremely painful, with one of four long, sharp legs impaling a hapless animal. The death of a Ghost Trap victim is far more painful, after getting caught, a prey animal is pulled into the mouth by tentacles, and dissolved in a stomach alive. These animals appear in Alien Plant/ Expedition and Aurelia and Blue Moon respectively.

The most feared land predators are also some of the largest. The first is the enourmous Tyrannosaurus Rex, and I don't need to give a description do I? Thanators are half the size of T-rex, but are just as dangerous, they have 10 pads on the back of their head that stick up when they are about to attack, and half sharp claws on their feet. The last is the Arrowtongue, slightly larger then a Thanator but smaller then a T-rex. These liquivores have tongues that are as sharp as razor blades, and as quick as chameleons, which can slash open even the thickest hide, they are also the fastest of the three giant predators, and easily a match for any.

Other smaller carnivores include Raptors, which inhabit the entire planet, and Bio-Raptors, creatures that appear in Pitch Black, but are less sensitive to light then their cousins in the movie. Viperwolves are nocturnal, hyena like predators that are very succesful, though they prefer forests over open woodland.

The sky is no safer, pterosaurs are actually the least dangerous, and are often prey to other, far more dangerous predators. The Stalker is a colony animal that appeared in Aurelia and Blue moon, that lives in the planets forests, attacking other air creatures. The Skewer is perhaps the planet's most potent predator, for when it attacks, a kill is nearly guaranteed, and no victim survives its long, deadly lance. The largest predator on the planet as a whole is the enourmous Leonopteryx(A predator that appears in James Cameron's avatar as the giant, orange flying creature) which prowls through the air, and will violently attack any animal when it is hungry, even the Alpha predators are fearful of this predator.

Surprisingly, there are several sapient or semi-sapient species, including Humans, Na'vi, Eosapiens, Xenomorphs, Predators, Martians(Steven Spielberg's War of the World's species). Most of the time, peace is the norm, although their are often conflicts between them.

The Human race are some of the most advanced, but are also the most vulnerable, they survived only by their intelligence. Na'vi are far more peaceful, and often mediate conflicts betweem the other sapient species. Eosapiens are the largest, though they are respectful and gentle with other sapients, they are deadly hunters that can create cages when throwing their clubs at prey.

Xenomorphs are by far the most dangerous, and live in small villages in the forests or plains. Because they evolved alongside other sapients on this planet, they will rarely attack other species, although their prowess in fighting makes them a favorite ally of other races.

Predators will, like Xenomorphs, generally leave other sapients alone, although they have been known to sometimes hunt other sapients when they're at war with them. Some have even been sighted hunting alongside Humans.

Martians are the most advanced technologically, and have built vast cities in the desert regions, and have constructed Giant Tripods which they use in wars against their enemies.

The sapient species all live in independent nations and tribes across the planet, and are known to trade with eachother. A major conflict was largely avoided due to the Na'vi's mediation, specifically the conflict occured when predators accidentally destroyed a human village, and the Martians backed the Humans, while the Xenomorphs backed the Predators, war would have been disastrous.

A/N: I had this idea for a long time, and decided to write about it, and incorporated my favorite aliens, dinosaurs, and other life into this planet. This isn't meant to be copyright, and all alien species belong to their respective creators, this is just for fun, if you want me to add anymore species request it below.

LBT Fanfiction / Land Before Time: Tyranna
« on: August 14, 2012, 02:47:57 AM »
Prologue

Things had been going bad for months now. The once fertile land was a dusty wasteland, where plants rarely grew, and water scarce. This had caused dozens of herds to leave the area, and the few that remained only did to hatch their young.

For one mother, this was a particularly sad season. All but 1 of her eggs had been stolen by eggstealers, and she had lost her father, the last remaining member of her family aside from her mate, to a sharptooth just days earlier. "Telia, are you alright?" Came the voice of her mate, and leader of the herd, Dac.

"Yes." She replied. "I'm sorry about Leron, he..." Dac began. "I know, its just..." She started as tears left her eyes. "I know." Dac answered as he let his mate cry on his shoulder.

Suddenly, the herd members started screaming, and a loud roar was heard. "Sharpteeth! They're after the children!" Yelled one of the herd members. "Everyone, get behind me!" Dac ordered as he charged to face the sharpteeth.

"Dac! Let me..." Telia cried as she tried to follow him. "Go! The herd needs a leader, and your hatchling needs a mother! I'll deal with the sharpteeth!" Dac replied as he charged at two sharpteeth.

One was a dark green color, with two red eyes, and a lighter underbelly, while the other was smaller, with grey skin, yellow eyes, and a golden underbelly. The larger of the two was the dark one, and both were males. "Stay away from my herd!" Dac yelled as he slammed his powerful tale into the smalller one.

His comrade immediatley attacked, and caught Dac off guard, grabbing his leg and biting hard. "AAAAHH!" Dac cried as the sharptooth applied more pressure. Telia saw this as her time to act, and rammed her tail into the sharptooth. This time it hit directly in the head momentarily stunning the sharptooth.

Telia and Dac stood together, but the other sharptooth had gotten up, and closed in on Telia, while his brother stalked towards Dac. Suddenly, unseen by the two, two large females ran at the longnecks, knocking down Telia and stunning Dac.

Dac prepared to defend his mate when the larger male leapt into the air, and jumped on his back, beginning to rip into him, but Dac would have none of it, and swung his back into the air, throwing the sharptooth off, who landed on the ground and began to get up.

To avenge her mate, the smaller of the two females charged at him, but Dac reared on his hind legs, and crushed her. This earned a roar of anger and shock from the other sharpteeth, and the male who he threw off. In a vicious charge, he ran at him, and bit deep into his leg, on the upper thigh.

Suddenly, a boulder slammed into the last female, crushing her. This angered the males even more, and the grey one charged at Telia, who had used that to crush the last female. But the rest of the herd attacked in a united front driving off the sharpteeth, and one longneck hitting a small, but sharp rock at the grey sharptooth, slashing him in the face, and another, larger one slashing into his head. This knocked the sharptooth out cold.

The last male, who was trying to revive his dead mate turned his head to face the herd, which stood protectively between their leader and the sharptooth. The sharptooth growled viciously, but stalked off, now with a hatred of longnecks in its head.

Following this, Dac managed to get up, and Telia ran to him, nuzzling him ecstatically. "Are you alright?" She asked, fearing for her mate's safety. "Yes Telia, I'm fine, atleast the damned sharptooth left." Dac said.

Telia nodded. They would wait a few more days until the last egg hatched, but one night, a second egg mysteriously appeared in Telia's nest. No one had any idea where it came from, or how it got there, but Telia still decided to adopt whatever was in the egg, as a mother to be, she would not abandon another egg to its fate.

The hatching day came, and Telia's was the last to hatch. The first one, Telia's blood child, was a male, who she named Al, and inherited his father's Turquoise skin tone. The second was a shock. The second was a baby sharptooth, light green in color, with blue eyes, and a yellow underbelly.

"What is that?!" Dac exclaimed when he saw the second hatchling. "A sharptooth, its a threat to us and the children! Lets get rid of it!" Another longneck yelled. Telia was conflicted, she was wary about adopting a baby sharptooth, but something about it told her to.

"Wait! I'm...going to take care of it." Telia announced. This hushed the croud, who were in shock. Why would a longneck take care of something that might someday eat it? Was a killer? It was absurd! "Telia...Why?" Dac asked, shocked at his mate's decision.

"She, something about her just tells me to do it. We could take care of her, teach her to be friendly, to eat crawlers and silver swimmers." Telia answered, her motherly instincts toward the sharptooth increasing. "How do we know she'll still not betray us?" Dac asked, mistrust written on his face.

"Would you betray your mother?" Telia asked. Dac thought for a moment, he wouldn't but what if this sharptooth found out about her heritage, and embraced it? Hopefully it wouldn't come to that.

"She's your responsibily." Dac said. "Dac I know she'll make a good daughter." Telia replied. "I said she could stay! That doesn't make her my daughter!" He said as he walked off. Telia sighed as the herd disbanded, and turned her attention to the two babies in her nest, who were trying to play with eachother.

"It's okay little one, he'll grow on you." Telia said as she nuzzled both her babies. When the baby female sharptooth licked her back, she felt as if it was her own daughter. "Tyranna. My little sharptooth." Telia thought.

End of prologue, tell me what you think, should I continue, or just abandon it?

I have always been a history buff, but I often wonder what would have happened if something major in history happened differently, like if the South won the civil war, or if the Germans won at Stalingrad, or if JFK didn't get shot. Does anyone here find this stuff interesting, or have any alternate history ideas? I personally find this quite interesting, even made one where the Confederacy wins the Civil war, and the whole world changes, but of course, the Union wins in the end. Anyone interested in this stuff can add something.

History Section / America and Soviet Union in WW2
« on: August 11, 2012, 11:28:02 PM »
The last thing I dislike is based on history, where people say that it was Russia who really fought, when they say that they use the Russian death toll as an example, 28 million deaths, combined. Now I don't hate them, and I mean no offense, but all those deaths weren't from extreme determination or desperation, but because they were used as canon fodder by Stalin, simply to wear the Germans down and defeat them, he was intentionally using his own troops like barbed wire, leaving the German Panzers to drive over a soldier with a bomb. It was only that. Plus, Russia didn't enter the japanese war until the very end, trying to take the glory that rightfully belonged to the United States, who truly did do all the work in the Pacific, sacrificing many thousands to defeat the fanatical Japanese. But here is basically how I rank the participation of the Big Three in World War II:

Russia: 60% European Theatre, 10% Pacific Theatre
United States: 20% European Theatre 65%% Pacific Theatre
United Kingdom/ England: 20% European Theatre 25% Pacific Theatre

Now I again have respect for the dead in World War II, but the reason Russia lost so much wasn't from valor, from poor leadership, and a crazy leader, aswell as being used as cannon fodder, just there to wear them down.

General Land Before Time / Changing sizes

Something that really bugs me about Land Before Time is the size changes of the kids, like when their close to an adult, they are smaller then their feet, but when it zooms out, they are larger, to give an example, look at this:

See, kids shrink and get bigger in the Land Before Time.

LBT Fanfiction / Brothers and Blood

Chapter 1, The first brother

The first thing Sharptooth knew was the day he hatched. Suddenly, he gained complete consciousness, his egg shell around him ceased to be comfortable, and he felt trapped, in an attempt to free himself of the pressure, Sharptooth pushed his head into the top area of the shell.

It worked. The young sharptooth pushed his head out of the egg, and for the first time, he saw the world around him, a vast grassy woodland with forests, rivers, lakes, and hills, a beautiful home. Even so, what most intrigued him were the other dinosaurs, swimmers, longnecks, threehorns and spiketails grazed and drank in the fields and rivers, while flyers soared effortlessly through the sky.

This was all to much for the youngster to take in, and he let out a distressed squeak as he pushed his egg apart with his legs. Soon, he was free, the cool summer air gently blowing in the air. But there was something else, where were mom and dad.

He squeaked again, and he heard a voice say: "Here I am." Sharptooth turned his head, and saw an enourmous sharptooth, with dark green skin, and yellow eyes. Sharptooth at first tried to hide, but when the sharptooth bent down and began licking him, he realized she was his mother, he returned this, and nuzzled her.

"Your perfect." His mother cooed as she nuzzled her son. As he nuzzled her, he saw another sharptooth approaching, this time a greenish grey color, with red eyes, dragging a swimmer.

"Saura, is that..." The male asked his mother, now identified as Saura. "Yes Strongjaw." She answered her mate, now identified as Strongjaw. As he approached, Sharptooth cowered in fear, until his father nuzzled him with affection. "He's perfect." He told Saura,

"What should we name him?" Strongjaw asked. Saura looked at her soon, and when he yawned, she saw he had exceptionally sharp teeth. "How about Sharptooth?" She asked. "But he is a sharptooth." Strongjaw replied in confusion.

"But his teeth are very sharp, even more then our own, so the name could work." Saura said. Strongjaw thought a little, until smiling at his mate's sensible explanation. "Fine, but I get to name the next one." Strongjaw added. "Very well." Saura replied.

A/N: So what do you think of my new story, I know this has been done before, but I wanted to add my theory, and this is what I think happened.

LBT Fanfiction / New Additions
« on: July 25, 2012, 03:38:08 AM »
A/N: This is a what if story based around the first film, although it goes all the way into the TV series and the gang's adulthood. In this, Chomper is in the first film and Littlefoot and his friends take him with them to the valley. Reviews and constructive criticism are welcome.

Prologue

Littlefoot, Ducky, Petrie, Spike and Cera were continuing their journey to the Great Valley, they had been on the move for atleast two weeks, and since then, Littlefoot had assumed a sort of leadership role among the gang, the Cera didn't want to admit it. Their trip so far had been surprisingly mellow, with just one sharptooth encounter, a Four Foot sharptooth(Dimetrodon).

Even so, Littlefoot had a nagging sense that a new member would join the group. "Me hope we get there soon, me hungry," Petrie commented. "We're all hungry flyer." Cera growled. "Cera, did you really have to do that, he's just saying." Littlefoot reprimanded. "Whatever flathead." Cera replied, Littlefoot sighed at Cera's bigotry, but he hoped she would improve.

"Hmm, there's a small stream right here, and..." Littlefoot was cut off when he saw a small little egg in a crevice a little ways away. "Hey, there's an egg down, there is." Ducky said. "We should probably rescue it, because it wouldn't survive without parents." Littlefoot said. "You sure about that?" Petrie asked nervously. "Yeah, a baby can't survive without some form of care." Littlefoot said. "Ooh yes, and we have been taking care of Spike, we could take another, yes we can." Ducky added.

"Alright, I'll go get it." Littlefoot said as he walked down, when he got there, the egg started to move. "Looks like it hatching." Petrie said. Soon, the egg fell completely off, and the hatchling inside opened its eyes for the first time. Everyone was shocked, it was a sharptooth, but it looked different from the Sharptooth that killed Littlefoot's mother, instead of the dark green skin and fully red eyes, the hatchling had a light blue tinge, with a pale underbelly, and white eyes with red irises.

"Its a..." Everyone began. "Sharptooth!" Petrie said as he flew behind Cera. "Lets get rid of it!" Cera suggested as she prepared to charge. Littlefoot was about to agree, when he thought he heard his mother's voice tell him not to. He also saw the little sharptooth look at them with curiousity, and make a little squeak. He took pity on it.

"No Cera, why don't we take him with us?" Littlefoot suggested. "But he a sharptooth!" Petrie said fearfully. "But he's just a baby, and what if we took him to the Great Valley, and I could convince my Grandparents to adopt him?" Littlefoot replied.

"Yeah sure, adopt the same kind of creature that killed their daughter." Cera sneered. "Shut it!" Littlefoot growled, he felt some kind of connection with the little sharptooth, sure it was the same kind that killed his mother, but her spirit was telling him to take it in. "He is pretty cute, yep yep yep!" Ducky chimed in.

Chomper tried to get up and he sneezed a little. "Aww, he is cute!" Petrie said. Spike seemed to nod in agreement. "Okay, now, we need a name for him." Littlefoot thought. "Maybe um..." Littlefoot thought when a dragonfly flew over the baby sharptooth. Out of instinct and hunger, it chomped the insect out of the air and started to eat. "Eww!" Ducky and Petrie said.

Littlefoot also momentarily looked way. Then a thought came to his mind: "how about Chomper?" Littlefoot asked. Everyone seemed to like it, except of course Cera. "Unless he chomps on you." Cera smirked.

Littlefoot rolled his eyes at her behaviour, then turned his attention back to the baby sharptooth, or Chomper. "Well, that settles it, your names Chomper." He said. Chomper seemed to like it, and squeaked his approval. "Alright, come one Chomper," Littlefoot said as he and the others began walking off.

Chomper tried to follow, but simply fell down. "Looks like we need to teach him to walk." Cera grumbled. After showing Chomper how to walk, Littlefoot let Chomper hitch a ride on his back, while Ducky and Petrie rode on Spike. Their trek to the Great Valley now had yet another new addition.

I was just browsing the web and noticed how much Iran hates America, and how Russia and China are also against the US(no offense if anyone here lives in those countries), and have pledged that if America invades Iran to remove a future threat, then they will declare war on America, or something along those lines.

I also realised that if it happens, it would be very far worse then either World War I or II. Plus, Iran seems to just LOATHE America, when I don't recall us ever doing anything to that country. If we do attack her, it will be to get rid of a threat.  I'm not war-mongering or paranoid, I'm just stating that this feels eerily similar to the situation in World War I, all it takes is one action, and the world could be thrown into war. Hope this doesn't happen.
