I'm glad you're feeling better Jared.  I don't have a Facebook or Twitter account either, and my laptop, ipod, and camera are all about 6 years old.

Just looked through all your art, and I like what I see!
You really seem to have an understanding of the way the characters are put together and the ability to apply it to drawing original characters.  I hope to see more pictures from you in the future!   :)

Silver Screen / Brave

I am going to watch the heck out of this movie when it comes out.  This is honestly the first movie in a long time that looks really great to me.  It has Celtic themes and archery, which are two things that I am interested in!   :DD
There have been a lot of people who don't like the way the main character (Merida) looks, but I have to say that I don't agree with them.  I'm kinda glad that she looks different than past Disney/Pixar characters.

Is anyone else planning on seeing this too?

I really like the intro!
I want to know more about the circumstances in which you were transported to the Land Before Time, because that sounds interesting!

I also sense a bit of something going on between Pterano and Tara  :angel I like how you had them get their beaks tangled  :lol I always wondered how pterodactyls would move their heads around without hitting something!

Sorry I'm not so good with serious reviews, but I like what you have here!

1988 Theatrical Release / Black Petrie
« on: April 24, 2012, 12:49:25 PM »
Well, I do not think that it's a glaring error.  My thoughts are that he is in the shadows for the purpose of suspense.
When Littlefoot started pulling on that cycad (or fern or whatever) something started to make a noise.  We as the audience know it can't be the plant, so we start wondering what could be making that noise, and then this strange looking sillouetted creature falls out!  After that bit of surprise, we are introduced to our new friend Petrie, who is now in the sunlight where we can see him clearly.

So mainly, I think that the filmmakers wanted to introduce the "comic relief" character in a slightly different way that was suspenseful and humorous.

This is just my two cents though.   :p

Thanks everyone.  I forgot to mention the specs.
It is 120 pixels by 103 pixels and 14.0 KB.  It's a png with transparency, but maybe it's a different kind of png file?  Are PNG-24 files or PNG-8 files accepted?  Or both?  I'm trying to upload it from my computer, so maybe it is too big.
Sorry for asking so many questions, I've never actually done this before  :bang

I'm not really sure where to put this, but here seemed like the best place.

I tried to upload an avatar here, but the site won't let me.  It's a png file, and it says that png files are accepted, but it won't let me.  What am I doing wrong? Also, is there enough space on this site to host the avatar image or will I have to find some place to put it?

Please forgive me, I get frustrated easily and I'm sure the solution is right in front of my face, but I thought it would be best to ask.   :slap

The Fridge / How did you find the GOF?
« on: April 18, 2012, 01:29:58 PM »
I better post in here before I forget  :p

I found the GOF by searching for information on the scenes that were cut from the final version of the first film.  Various search engines brought me here, and then I noticed all of the interesting discussions about all of the movies, so I stuck around and lurked.
I lurked at first because school was taking up all of my time and I knew that I wouldn't be able to partake in the discussions.  The other reason was because I am actually very shy, and it took me this long to decide to join.
I know a year sounds like a long time to lurk, but I lurked 3 years on another site before I joined there!

But I'm glad I'm here now!  :)

Land Before Time TV Series (2007) / are you happy with the TV series?
« on: April 12, 2012, 06:12:54 PM »
I will say that I think it looks better than the vector-based shows out there.

I only want to know why it took them so long to make a show in the first place; it seems that something like that would be one of the first things the studio would want to make.   :confused

General Land Before Time / Why does everyone hate "Good Inside"?
« on: April 11, 2012, 08:45:21 PM »
I think I see the point you all are making now; it is definitely not a good thing to tell little kids that every mass-murderer just needs a big hug to bring out the "good inside" them.

I just hope that I'm not offending anyone, because that is not my intent.

After looking through your thread I can see a marked improvement over the years!  Good job!   :)

I do have some suggestions about the Ruby and Chomper picture, if you don't mind me saying:
I think that if you drew Chomper smaller and had him sitting more on Ruby's chest than her stomach the picture wouldn't be interpreted as being "questionable".  I didn't see it that way on my first glance, but I can understand why it is viewed that way.

Also, on your most recent picture, the only thing I would say to improve upon it would be to redraw the outlines to be thicker, but since you said that the full-sized versions were lost I guess you can't work on it anymore.   :cry

I hope I don't come off as too caustic    but I do like to critique art (in a constructive way).

Hello 65 Tricky 86 Edith and Blitz!  :wave

I have a question to ask, but I don't know where to post it, so I'll just post it here:
Is it acceptable to post LBT images here that are scanned from books?  I have a book that has some color keys from the first movie, but I'm not sure if that's allowed.  Also I guess they would have to be uploaded to a hosting site first?  And is there already a thread that they would go in?

Okay, that was three questions :p

General Land Before Time / Song or no songs?
« on: April 10, 2012, 11:17:08 PM »
You know, I didn't even consider that theory!  I kind of like it!  :idea

That is actually what they did in The Secret of NIMH, essentially.  When Mrs. Brisby was feeding the medicine to Timmy, the song "Flying Dreams" starts, and even though it's not sung by Brisby it is still supposed to be about what she is feeling.

I didn't really plan on doing anything, but I had this thought a while back:

When my great-grandmother was a little girl, she and her family were going to come to America from Ireland to be with family.  They left in 1912, the same year the Titanic set sail.
They were on a different ship of course (the Cameronia, I think) but it kinda makes me think about how things might have turned out.

I just thank the Lord that they didn't decide to board the Titanic instead.

Anyways, I hope that the ship building industry has learned from this tragedy so that it won't happen again.
(Sorry for making your topic so depressing :( )
