The Fridge / What different purchases have you made recently?
« on: December 27, 2008, 10:19:00 PM »
I really need to work harder at saving money...

Graphic Novels (and for those who haven't heard of them, they really aren't all inappropriate as the name may suggest to some of you):
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya 1
Gon 5
Dragon Drive 10 and 11
COWA!
NORA: The Last Chronicle of Devildom 1
Shaman King 19
St. Dragon Girl 1
.Hack//G.U. + 3
Chibi Vampire 11
.Hack//xxxx 2
Sand Land
Descendants of Darkness 1
Code Geass 1
Sokora Refugees 1
KAMUI 1
Nephylym 1
Legend 1
You can see that I am a big graphic novel collector and judging from all the volume 1's, you can probably also notice that I start new series quite frequently.

Video Games:
Chrono Trigger- DS
Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe Kollector's Edtion- XBOX 360
Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Limited Edition- PS3

Other:
The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon Player's Guide, which covers all of the versions except for the DS one. I can put a stop right now to what it is some of you are thinking. I did NOT cheat in any way during the five times I've beaten this game. I used no references for the entire time. I just got the players guide afterwards to learn some secrets about it, that's all.
The Land Before Time: Friends Forever DVD

These are my recent purchases. I never was very good with money. Later.

Almost immediately, Mo jumped out of the water and landed with all his weight on Littlefoot's chest. Mo slid off of him back into the water because the impact caused Littlefoot to start coughing up a lot of water. Though his lungs didn't start working normally right away, his breaths slowly became less shallow and rapid and he was eventually able to take in bigger amounts of air, but it still sounded like he was gasping because his lungs hadn't completely cleared yet.

Sorry my bad.

Nothing to be embarrased about! Nobody fully understands everything all the time. We all understand that since we've all done the same thing at one point or another in our lives. Nothing bad is going to happen to you for three reasons:

1. What happened was extremely trivial. No problem at all.

2. It was an honest misunderstanding. When do those not happen?

3. You're here! When does anything bad happen to someone here?

So relax. Everything's fine.

The Party Room / Character Battles!
« on: December 27, 2008, 07:29:13 AM »
Um, Dark Pterano? I see that this is your first post on this topic, so I take it you're a bit new to the topic itself? Don't worry, everything's fine and all, but I think we have a slight misunderstanding here. You see, this topic wants one or more battles prepared and you did a great job! More fights than most people at one time have presented so far, very interesting match ups, and none have a very obvious finish. I'm impressed on how well you started with those very original battles. It's just that, the topic would prefer it if you could perhaps decide a winner to the previous battle(s). And if you wanted, you can even make some interesting explanation on what led you to your choice. But as I said, nothing to worry about. When I come to a new place, I'm so eager to contribute to the group that I'll occasionally misunderstand something here and there too. Nothing that important, but something that slightly alters the current flow of things. Everyone always understands here, so relax. Since Drake was here a bit earlier, I think I should answer his. However, since you did just arrive, and you put so much thought into those very good battles with very unknown outcomes, here's what I'll do. After I answer Drake, I doubt it would be looked too highly upon if I answered two in a row without giving one myself. So I'll answer Drake, then sign off without giving a battle of my own, so the next person here can answer the great battles you've chosen. Sound fair? I can set things back up so Drake's question is still answered, then it will officially be time for someone to tackle yours. That way, you don't have to change anything. This happens to everyone.

Wow, Goku versus Super Sonic and Super Shadow, huh? Well, since you specifically mentioned the hedgehogs' being transformed but nothing special about Goku, I'll honor that and won't let Goku enter any of his "super" forms in this. Since Goku can sense power levels, he would see how strong his opponents are, and he would increase his power level as well. As they charge at such speed, all three would seem to disappear for a moment. Goku is bigger and stronger, but the other two are faster, so Goku gets knocked back from the momentum of the others, and the others from his sheer strength. This won't be quite as interesting as possible, becaue while I am aware of Shadow's chaos control, I confess that I don't know exactly how it works, being as I've only seem him do it vaguely with Rogue and Heavy from Sonic Heroes. So, let's see. Let's say they are on Earth with Goku, and since that world has chi, not the mystic arts as Mobius does, let's say chaos control doesn't work there. Goku quickly recovers and fires a kamehameha at the others who are really close together, but they separate at high speed and the blast misses completely. Sonic does a sonic spin which hits Goku's chest and he goes flying back into a small mountain which crumbles to nothing very quickly. He gets up to see both coming at him from each side, and just like in The Tree of Might, he extends both arms out and yells, "Energy Blast" which is a less powerful attack but nontheless makes contact on both opponets who were too close to move and they are knocked up, land, and continue to skid for several yards.

Now, I could keep this battle going for a very long time. I have it all planned out with a semi interesting ending. Goku's fights are rarely short. But since someone will surely get annoyed with a three page post, and since you all get the gist of how this is a pretty even battle, I will simply announce the victor(s) who would have won at the end of the fight I planned, which is Goku using one of his famous grand finales. I'm afraid his winning streak isn't quite over yet. Next battles: as I promised, Dark Pterano already has them made, so its his/her turn to be responded to. Later!

I also think that there is a difference between the killing of an animal and the plucking of a flower.

That is very true in reality. I have met a lot people who hate animals getting sick, injured, dying, eating meat, etcetera. Yet I haven't met a single person who has ever been bothered in the slightest when I pick a plant up. Like you said, that has to do with the fact that animals suffer, while plants do not. That is quite logical and I feel the exact same way on that matter. However, I still believe that brekclub85's speech would make quite a few flateeth think things a lot differently when they eat or see a sharptooth.

X-shaped vines sticking out of the ground were keeping Littlefoot stuck fast. Seeing this, Mo swam up and bit through the vines as close to Littlefoot's legs as possible so that there wouldn't be enough excess slack hanging from him to get him caught again. Although free, Littlefoot's lack of air had weakened his body to the point that he couldn't even make himself move, let alone swim up. Mo got underneath him, pushing him up as he swam. Reaching the top, he applied extra force to knock Littlefoot on to dry ground. But he still wasn't moving and his eyes wouldn't open...

Very, very quickly, Ducky had to make a decision. Even she has trouble holding her breath as long as Littlefoot has been. Should she waste valuable time in trying to get help, or try to free him herself? Those vines look fairly strong. Could she break them off of him herself?

Unlike my last post here, there is no information in the above signature that certain people wouldn't understand, so I can simply express my own opinion.

A lot people who watch The Land Before Time see the characters' feelings and simply observe them, perhaps undertstanding, but are often not personally effected. This signature expresses that he doesn't just feel for the character but with the character. There is such a connection between the writer of this signature and the character Chomper that if Chomper isn't feeling so well, he feels bad too. In the same sense, as in the example from the signature, if he sees that Chomper is feeling good, then he generally feels good as well, indicating that "The Lonely Journey" must have been a very horrible experience for the writer. It shows what a sensible sharptooth thinks: leaf eaters provide the nutrients their bodies need to survive, like protein, for instance. Unlike many sharpteeth who seem to be unfairly portrayed as actually wanting to just kill everything for pleasure, this is the moral way for them to think. The signature is saying two things. You can feel the same way as someone you care about, and that sharpteeth aren't murderers because it isn't their fault that their bodies were designed to need flesh to live. If sharpteeth didn't need meat, they wouldn't go around killing, hence it is for survival, not the thought of ending life. Considering how well it was written, how there were no mistakes or faults found anywhere in it, and how deeply it was thought out, I give it...

Now hold on one second! Most of you think that I'm just going to give him a perfect score to repay him for giving me one and the compliment. Think what you will, but unless you disagree with the reasons in my evaluation, I don't think people should start assuming that I simply do good things to those who do good things to me. Even if he had given me a 1/10 and said he thought my signature was an abomination to this site, my evalution wouldn't magically have different facts that say his signature isn't a good one. But whatever you think of me, well, I still give the above signature a ten out of ten for the deep meaning and the way it was written, and how the significance of having a bond with someone will allow feelings to be shared.

Well, I have different two ways of looking at and rating this particular signature: my opinion as an individual, and how it looks to people as a whole.

My opinion: Excellent opening. Even in college I rarely saw the use of onamotapia in anything for some reason. But I love using it because it's fun and important. And considering this is the first signature I've noticed that uses it, it's very original, if not extremely uncommon. The way you arranged those keyboard strokes to look like a happy expression adds to the overall feeling that makes you seem to be a pleasant person yourself. The use of "cute" verbs like "snuggled" gives your signature a more innocent feel to it. Your wording that implies the person reading your signature has been effected for doing so promotes interaction. And the fact you chose a popular character from both an anime and video game series to help promote your signatere was clever, especially your "old school" approach from your choice, being as Dragonite first appeared in the game from the original game boy which is now over ten years old. Fans of the "good old days" like it when choices come from them. Plus, the fact that Dragonite is very rare, thus much more difficult to aquire or even see than most others, makes it especially nice to see one. And that he is incredibly powerful and can take a lot of damage (except from ice) promotes a feeling of toughness . Finally, the fact that you can comfortably call him "fat" means that you are not afraid of Dragonites in general, or at least the one you're referring to, meaning that either you're very brave, you've actually managed to befriend the one you're talking about, or a combination of both. Any of those cases would increase popularity though. My score: ten out of ten.

As for people as a whole: It's simple. Not everyone has heard of Pokemon, nor has everyone that has heard of Pokemon heard of Dragonite as well. To keep all non pokemon fans from having to go to a search engine online to figure out who Dragonite is, you should make some sort of reference to let everyone know that he is pokemon. My score as people as a whole: nine out of ten.

Closing: Excellent job Lain_EX! I love your signature. You're very creaitve and thoughtful.

Looks like I was right. There is no way I could've thought of that myself, and no way for me to express it so well if I had. Thank you for explaining your field so well to those who don't specialize in that area (like me). Sharpteeth and flateeth both simply do what they must to survive. Neither is wrong in doing so, even though sharpteeth are considered the bad guys. Now that's annoying. Wanting sharpteeth to stop eating other dinosaurs is just as preposterous as wanting flateeth to stop eating plants! I couldn't possibly agree with that logic more. You really open up a new world (literally) with your ideas. (Sigh) If I had tried a little harder in school I probably would have gotten better than a C+ in Sharpteeth Social Skills and a D in Psychology and Meat Eaters (which I dropped by the way.) Looks like I found a good tutor though. But I wasn't THAT bad. I still got an A in both The World of Dinosaur Grammar and Leaf Eater Singing 101. Easy classes or not, I STILL got A's in them.

Relieved and ready to have some more fun, Littlefoot announces, "Hey! I'm gonna see how long I can hold my breath underwater. Someone count slowly and tell me what number you get to when I surface." With that, he swims over to the deepest part of the water, which ended up being the darkest, takes a deep breath, and submerges. After going a little deeper, he sees some pretty fish swim by, then moves his legs around to keep him from going down much farther. But in doing so, two of his legs get caught in some underwater vines, and he struggles, but can't break free. As more time passes, all everyone else can think at the moment is how unusually well Littlefoot can hold his breath...

Yeah, the "mindless" thing about the sharpteeth other than Chomper's family is getting really old for me too. I mean, Redclaw is suposed to be one of the best sharpteeth right now, right? The next time they get away from him by running between his legs, scare him with an echo, hide from him when they were in his direct sight but then he just walks past their hiding place without noticing, or something of that nature, well, my annoyance meter is going into red. I mean it.

I don't think that this is what the previous post was referring to though; that was just my own random thought I had that I put at the beginning of this post. I believe brekclub85 is referring to how it seems most sharpteeth are portrayed as having no feelings, are highly unintelligent, and go around killing just to kill even when they don't need the food. Of course, I just work here part time as a general aid. Brekclub85 is full time in the sharpteeth department, so any further explanation from me on this subject would be wasted, since he knows the subject fully and can explain it much better than I could. I even doubt I explained my summary explaination on this matter as accurately as possible. Oh well. I tried my best.

Thank you for being concerned, but I can easily say "nothing at all to worry about," as I was not offended in any way by anyone since I've been here. Nobody ever needs to worry about offending me. Trust me. I am deathly afraid of being in a large body of water, so you have more of a chance to get me to go to a swimming party with no girls my age to flirt with than you do of offending me. No exaggeration. It is nearly impossible to come anywhere close to hurting my feelings, so please, everyone say to me as you wish.

I feel old
At least you were lucky enough not to feel that way as early as I did! I'm only 21 and I've felt old for the last few years.

You've already gotten a generous supply of "happy birthday"s here, so I'll try something else.

Today's the very special day,
Where you turn thirty one.
Don't worry a bit about your age,
Just try and have some fun.

Now's the time for chocolate,
Unless it's not your thing.
But no matter what you eat,
You're still treated like a king.

It's good that you can fellowship,
With lots of friends you know.
It's something you can always do,
Even as you grow.

Now's the time for happiness,
So forget what makes you sad.
On such a fine occasion,
How couldn't you be glad?

Because there is a birthday,
I know you're treated twice.
But two days in a row for you!?
Man, that would sure be nice.

Best wishes to a brother,
And I hope that yours come true.
But as for all your beverages,
Well, I worry what you'll do...

Sorry not to join you,
But I live so far way.
This is all that I can give,
On your special day.
It's not a thing that I can wrap,
But something fun to say.
I know this poem isn't great.
But at least, is it okay?

Sorry, but I've never been good at poems in general, let alone spur of the moment ones. Have a nice one. Later!

Looking down, Cera replied, "Yeah, I guess so. Even Littlefoot commented before we even found the Great Valley how it's naturally more difficult for sharpteeth to swim because of their smaller arms. But you managed to learn anyway," the sadness in her voice very obvious. She had never forgotten how unsuccessful she had been with the log running game, no matter how much and many times she had tried, because it is so much more difficult for her kind to do that type of thing. Right now, she was actually feeling a little jealous of Chomper.

This is my report on the source of the quote in question: "It's this way"

In accordance with the guidelines mentioned at the beginning of this topic:
1. It is from The Land Before Time IX: Journey to Big Water.
2. Littlefoot spoke the sentence/statement.
3. The sentence/statement was addessed to Littlefoot's grandfather.

To show everyone who wasn't aware of what part this quote is derived from, I shall reiterate the scenario as best as possible:

Littlefoot climbs on top of a log, although he slips a bit at first.
"Gee, sky water has really changed the land around here."
He clears throat, then begins speaking in a deep voice so as to sound like there is really someone else there, in an attempt to make up for him feeling alone. "Think it's safe to go on, Littlefoot?" he asks himself.
Returning to his normal his normal voice, he answers himself by saying, "Sure it is. Maybe "we'll" find some new kind of creature like Grandpa said!" while walking off the log.
After going on top of a rock, he clears his voice again, resuming that deep voice which makes the impression to him that he is actually talking to a different character, and says, "Okay, but we have to be careful."
Using his real voice again, he challenges his "other self" and says, "Awww, don't be such a scaredy egg!" Then he gasps and exclaims, "Whoa!" after seeing all the new water in the Great Valley. "Look at that! There's so much water!" he exclaims.
Then with his deep sounding, "careful" personality, he says, "Uh, I think "we've" gone too far from home now, Littlefoot."
Now for the first time, he uses his normal voice to actually agree with his deep one, "Yeah. you may be right." With that, he runs off and the camera zooms out to show a lot of new water and that it's flooding part of the Great Valley.
When he comes back, he has a lot of grownups with him, including his grandfather. Littlefoot, who was leading the way to where he saw the new water, calls out when he arrives, "Over here, Grandpa! It's this way!"

I will patiently await evaluation on my report for as long as necessary. Thank you for your time.
