1988 Theatrical Release / Re: The search for the great valley
« on: Today at 06:35:59 AM »I know I'm kind of bumping an old thread, but I'm an archivist who has been actively working to digitize several storybook tapes that feature music made by Jonathan Larson (who is best known for writing RENT). Search for the Great Valley and Friends in Need are two of those tapes.
I was able to get a copy of the tape for this one, and thought maybe the community would also be interested. I've put it onto the Web Archive here, and should I be able to find the tape for Friends in Need, I'll also be archiving and uploading that audio.

Nice to finally have someone with the cassette that came with this story. Though I tried to play it on Internet archive and it didn't work, it won't play
wow, I didn't know these books had an audio! :O
Great work!!!
(yeah, it doesn't play for me too at this moment)
Oh, shoot - you know what, somehow it got renamed during upload to .mp3 instead of .wav. Fixed that mistake, it should play now!
And yeah, these tapes were pretty obscure even in their day. I'm working on reaching out to interview Nick Petron, who directed the audio adaptation and pulled Larson onto the project, it's possible he may have the audio for Friends in Need in the event the tape doesn't resurface in any way.
