The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

So the other night before I decided to return to this place, I was pondering on the characters who don't really have official names like the Gang 'o Seven or a few other characters (Redclaw, his Fast Biters, the egg stealers, the VII flyers, etc). We only know so many character names right now, and something I've always wondered is how these characters would be named in conversations with their friends rather than their family members. :thinking

So I made this thread for that kind of discussion. Here's where you can share your personal believed names for those characters. Like Grandpa and Grandma Longneck, Mama Flyer, Petrie's siblings, any number of Sharpteeth, etc...

I've only got so many, but there's one specifically I've always held onto.
For years now, I always personally believed that Littlefoot's mother's name was "Tori". :MomCompassion Think about this; Cera's dad is named Topps, and his now-wife is named Tria. Tria-Cera-Topps. You get my drift? :bestsharptooth So in LBT10 we meet Bron - and Littlefoot is often associated to be a Bron-tosaurus. And when I thought about it in a similar way to Cera's family, 'Tori' just felt right for Littlefoot's mom. It's a very pretty name, suitable for a warm and compassionate character like her. Granted, it doesn't QUITE fit as well with the naming conventions of the threehorns - but, I'm still happy with the name, and for years, I've stuck to it. :idea

That's the #1 example I have. I'm gonna be giving this some thought so I can come up with names that might fit within the Land Before Time universe. It's harder than I thought :ChomperEww Plus I don't wanna end up going the Topps route with EVERY family member.

But maybe some inspiration from you lovely folks here at the GoF will give me the spark I need to keep thinking of names beyond just Mama Longneck. So go wild, folks! :)petrie

General Land Before Time / Re: Too Much Focus on Littlefoot?
« Last post by HotelValleyfornia on May 07, 2025, 08:20:17 AM »
This has been a question I've pondered on in the past. Being a film with 13 whole sequels, you'd think there'd be a little less longneck and a little more of everyone else.  :thinking Plus, Littlefoot's character arc was more or less completed in the first film, and to an extent the first sequel.

But at the same time, I get it. Littlefoot is the de facto protag of the franchise, so it's natural that he gets the lion's share of the spotlight. Also, I don't think Littlefoot's case of Main Character Syndrome™ is anywhere near as obnoxious as certain other franchises. For example, Lilo and Stitch. In that particular franchise, it feels like the livelihood of basically every character orbits around Stitch like the sun. In the TV show, Stitch is more often than not the ONLY reason anything ever gets done, always being the hero and cleaning up almost every mess - when Lilo is ALSO a title protag, y'know. :neutral It's not always the case, as episodes like Yaarp and Spike show other characters taking charge and being heroes, but 9 times out of 10 it's Stitch who fixes everything. Whereas in The Land Before Time, yes Littlefoot is the main character, but he shares the heroism about equally with his friends and even other characters like his grandpa. It feels a lot more equal to me as a result. Littlefoot isn't the center of the confounded universe, he's EQUALLY as capable as his friends are - while still sticking out in enough ways to let you know that he's still the central protag.

That said, I think if we got more movies past the 14th one, I think we could've gotten more movies that bring focus to characters besides the big L. For example XII was much, much more focused on Petrie and to an extent Cera than on Littlefoot, and VIII was a time to shine for Spike and Ducky. In general the movies that are more focused on the non-LF members of the Gang have always stood out to me for giving them the time in the sun they hadn't really gotten before at that point. And that, I think, is part of why The Land Before Time as a franchise still holds up years later. :smile

Heh…It’s been a while, hasn’t it?  :rhett_smile

Awfully sorry that your local FreshTV stan vanished like a puff of smoke for like years. Ever since my last appearance here, stuff has been pretty hectic. I’ve been trying to leave the house more often, my mom found a new boyfriend who lives with us now, and my mom has been preparing a new dog grooming job because we’ve been struggling financially for YEARS. With all of…that, on my plate, I’ve kind of not had as much time for LBT. :littlefootoh

But, recently I decided “Hey, you know what? I’m gonna listen to Flip, Flap and Fly again”. And yep, still rocks as hard as I remember. :petrieLOL And that reminded me of how much I miss hanging out here, talking to folks about dinosaurs and everything else we enjoy. My online circle is pretty small outside of a couple sites and I wanted to return to an old space I enjoyed my time at. Plus, LBT still holds up pretty well for me. It’s always stuck in my mind and no sands of time shall weather it away!

Keep in mind though, since things are still prone to changing a lot around here, I likely won’t have time to keep track of all my PM conversations like I used to. I’m much better with group talk (like stuff in the Party Room and Party Time forums!) rather than private ones anyway. That’s just a me issue, though, so don’t take it personally.

For those of you who forgot who I was or joined after I was active here, howdy. I’m your local fan of all things related to FreshTV and Total Drama, and everything they’ve inspired, as well as good ol’ Land Before Time. Tricia has long been my favorite character for many reasons – she’s cute, she’s pink, and she’s a quick learner. All things that I wish I was.  :bestsharptooth But I'm very fond of Ducky as well. :duckyOK

In terms of how my life has been during my absence…well, I was into Disventure Camp at the time of my disappearance, and that still holds true. Unfortunately…well there are three words to describe the All-Stars season: stink, stank, stunk :Chomp  But luckily season 4 (and the spinoff about Tom and Jake) managed to redeem it for me. But in my absence, MORE Total Drama-inspired shows have begun to show up around the internet. My favorite of these shows, beyond the still-yet-to-be-topped Season 1 of Disventure Camp, has gotta be The Million Game: Academy. There’s only one episode so far but it has already hooked me in HARD. Kati is my favorite character right now. Her adorable sweetness actually reminds me a lot of Ducky  :duckyhappy Though this is subject to change, there’s a new show coming out called Exotic Escapade that ESPEECIALLY has my attention…

Anything else hmmm…Oh. Caitlin isn’t my favorite fictional character anymore. Surprise?  :GuidoAAAAAHHHHHH I’ve recently gotten back into Sonic the Hedgehog and…I just remembered just how much Zeena the Zeti has my heart. She barely ever appears in the franchise outside of the comics, but man. Everything about her from her design to her suave, sarcastic sassiness to her relatable laziness to her voice acting (the world needs more of Stephanie Sheh) to…well, just about everything, really. She’s my favorite fabulous space chameleon and she just makes me happy when I think about her.  :cozy

So…I’m not sure how OFTEN I’ll be active nowadays, but I’ll try and show my face more often. So keep an eye out for me as I wander the GOF once more. ;)Cera

correct: A, E, N, D, O
incorrect: L, S, R, B, H, T

guesses left: 0

Looks I win this round. The correct answer is...

Mad Money

Hosted by the frequently entertaining Jim Cramer, that TV show about the stock market recently celebrated it's 20th anniversary.

Let's see if I can randomly select another one that could stump you...
