It's basically a device that lets you make your own soda. It doesn't use any kind of electricity or batteries. It also comes in many different flavors.

I have one of my own and I absolutely LOVE it. The device to house it all does cost a bit, but it's worth every penny.

Seriously, all you soda lovers MUST try this. You won't regret it.

We had a soda stream at my mother's and my father's place. They used to be popular over here some years ago, but it was kind of a temporary fashion in the end.

This came out two years ago I think.... But like Malte279 said it's just a trend.

Over here it became popular in the late 90s and lost popularity in the early err... "00s" in spite of the fact that over here tap water is of better quality (stricter controlls etc.) than the sparkling water offered in stores. I usually drink tap water without any desire for sparkling to it.

I stopped drinking soda altogether over a year ago, but if anybody asks me about this, I'll tell 'em I heard it works nice
