Finally saw the Dark Knight Rises tonight, and I must say I was impressed. as a trilogy Nolans batman Films are one oif the stronger trilogies in recent memory, certainly, in my mind it sets the standard for the superhero genre, just as Star Wars(the original trilogy) or Lord of the Rings did for science fiction and fantasy respectively. for me the best film was the Dark Knight, thanks to Heath lefdger oscar-winning turn as the Joker. It takes a heck of a performance to win an Oscar after you die, its only happened twice, but Ledger pulled it off. Dark Knight Rises, for me was better than batman Begins, ias it managed to tie things together very nicely. Anne Hathaway did a very good turn as Selina kyle, proving that this cat has some sharp claws. Tom Hardy did a good job as bane and it was nice to see screen legends Gary Oldman Sir Micheal Caine and Morgan Freeman reprise thier roles. the films ending has been  contraversial, but my view of it is this. bruce survived, as did batman.Batman is not quitting, he completes his task and is allowed to have a break from the suit. . one could argue that he ' quit' in the 8 years between the dark Knight and this film. hes a recluse Wayne industries is going down the tubes, and bane is wreaking havoc, which eventually pulls him out of retiorement.  the ending left enough open for a spinoff or sequel.and i fully expect that bruce will don the cape and cowl again, although perhaps not alone. introducing Robin has always been tricky, as he has usually been a pretty camp character ' gee willickers batman Its the Penguin!" and myriad other corny oneliners that have defined Robin for decades and then of course there were the Schumacher films in the mid-90s which only piled on the camp, and set batman into purgatory for nearly a decade.

Having seen it back on opening weekend, I'll say it wasn't as good as TDK, but I was still a solid film IMO. Tom Hardy did fine as Bane, though obviously not as iconic as Ledger's Joker.

The final chase and opening plane scenes were among my favorite scenes, and if they want to do a spinoff with Anne Hathaway's Catwoman, I'm all for it.

And of the fact that the plot made no sense at all?

was the plot a bit convolutred. uyes it was, however I was ablre to follow it fine WR. The p-problem is, im you went to see see it with a closed mind. you already had a formed notion of the film, and that detracts from the viewing experience. Everyone has the right to an nopinion. but you are not entitled to state opinion as fact. You may not like the film, thats fine. I for one, liked it. is it going to win best picture? Probably not, as the reviews have consistently held it below the Dark Knbight. however it is nowhere near the campfest that was Batman and Robin.  to say that itr as a film, is anyewhere near Batman and Robin is pushging things way too far.

You make it sound like I wanted to hate this film. I WANTED to like this. I really did. I can't help that I've always found Bane (and the OTHER villain that shows up) to be a skin-peelingly boring villain.

You forget that I also had a skeptical attitude to Jackson's LotR films at first but ended thinking they were the best films of all time.

you mean Catwoman. shes not really a villian per se, shes always been kinda in the mushy line between hero-villan love interest,. I though Hathaway did a very good job,  it certainly was miles better than halle berry's attempt. Bane I agree is rather onenote- I will break you! although whatever villan they chose wopuld have cdome up short when compared to ledgers joker. The Riddler might have been a better choice, the whoile contest of wits devious puzzles and all that stuff. as for the scarecrow, they had cameos for him in both  sequels, although they never really gave a reason why he was picked to preside over the trials..
as for LOTR  the first film convinced me that something special was going on. i would suggest that you at least see the first half of the Hobbit. the third filmn is probably going to mostly be the gap years between the end ofg the hobbit and fellowship..

No, I mean the OTHER OTHER villain that shows up (I'm trying not to spoil too much to anyone here who might not have seen it). Catwoman was fine overall. Hathaway was more fun than I'd imagined.
