My 5th GoF Anniversary

WOW! I had absolutely no idea what to expect when I joined this forum as a wee 14 year old Iris who longed for some shared nostalgia. Still, 5 years ago I made the decision to join the Gang of Five. I had never been on any forum before, and I had no idea what to expect. I bought all 13 land before time movies in the winter of 2007 and researched a bit on the land before time through google. I found a dutch website, which had a link to the GoF (which I ignored). I found a link to the GoF in many places, in fact... However, I did decide to add Austin (landbeforetimelover) on MSN, who then directed me to the GoF.... At last, I decided to join this place.

I was a bit of a mess back then, as many 14 year olds are. I was trying to find the real me. Many of you said I was mature for my age, and looking back now.. I absolutely disagree

I won't get too far into my personal life, since I don't want to bother you with that... Most of you who knew me back then know that I had a problematic boyfriend which I got rid off very quickly once many of you made me realize he was 'wrong'. Through the Gang of Five I got to meet Tim (action9000) who was my boyfriend for 3 years and helped me turn from a messed up teen to the person I am today. I met with him for the first time back in 2009, and when I returned home from Canada I had the pleasure of meeting Malte and Littlefoot1616 for the first time as well!

Back then I was almost unaware of how much you guys helped me get myself together and form me into the young lady I am right now. When Petrie asked me to become a moderator in 2010 I agreed, however I was still uncertain of my place on the GoF. I now see that the people on here and the responsibility I got for being a mod (and eventually an admin) really got me back on my feet.

So, to everyone here on the Gang of Five... Whether you were active in the past or only just joined today... Whether I met you in real life or just chatted with you via PMs here.... I'd like to thank you all for making this an amazing experience. I love all of you, thank you so much.

I'm a recent member, 20 years old pushing on twenty one, and I watched the series up till movie seven, wandered away from the series, then was reintroduced when the TV series came out. I've been here for like... A day or two, but this is a wonderful community, and I'm happy to celebrate this site's fifth aniversery with all the other fans of Land Before Time.

Iris I know I'm not your favorite member on here. And I know you and I had a lot of arguments and so on. And I'm not the easiest member here but you put up with me for two years and most staff at other forums I joined said I'm done and didn't bother anymore. But somehow you put up with all of my radio edit and I'm grateful for you putting up with me and I'm glad you spent five years on a forum that's awesome and Congratulations on your fifth year anniversary. And I'm grateful to have met you and still talk to you on here. And for everything else. I'm still amazed how you put up with me and I'm glad you where patent with me when I wasn't patient at all. I hope we can still chat and be friends on here. Once again it's still nice meeting you.

Anyhoo, congratulations! And personally, I think it was smart of the moderators to add you on to their team, because you've contributed a lot over the years and you've never lost your temper at anyone here

It'll be five years for me come June. How time flies when we're having fun.

To have so many here who've been active 5 years and more speaks volumes of LBT fandom's longevity.

:! Thanks so much for everything you've done for The Gang Of Five in that time. You've been an awesome contributor to the forum, even years before becoming part of the moderating/administrative team. Speaking of which, I concur with Anna's statement that it was a good idea for the other admins to make you a moderator and subsequently an admin.

I can honestly say that you're a member I really look up to.

It's funny…I feel like I'd always thought of you as a member who'd been with the GOF since the beginning, when in reality I joined only about a year later than you. :blink: (Technically I first became a member on March 8, 2009, though I'd been an anonymous lurker for at least a few months prior, and didn't become an active member until June 12, 2009. So I'm not really sure when to celebrate my 4-year anniversary.

Ah, I might not even bother.)

Anyway, congrats again, Iris, and I hope you remain a member and administrator of this forum for a long time to come.

Hope you, me, and many others get to stick around some more. This is a great little community you guys got going here.

Wow, congrats on your 5th anniversary Iris! I'm glad that LBT and the Gof has helped you in your life. Even though I have been largely absent from the GoF these past 3-4 years I hope I have helped as well, however small it might have been.

Haha yeah, I've heard that before! However, if I had joined at the start of the GoF like the other admins I would've been 9 or 10 years old back then... It's possible, but unlikely since I couldn't be online often back then
