Would the members of the Gang of Seven, including Petrie, die for each other?  Would they do what Mo did, knowing that they might not come back alive in order for their friends to get away?  How strong is their bond?

No doubt, I'm pretty sure they would. Friends so closely connected to each other would do everything for their friends.
Inactive, probably forever.

We had many instances of GOS members (including Petrie) risking their lives for each other. E.g. Petrie's diving across the snout of one of Chomper's parents to get Ducky away from there (who had gotten there in order to save Spike).
I do hope however that they all are sensitive enough not to get themselves on behalf ot the others if there is a choice. Of course sacrificing ones live is considered the last full measure of devotion and gets high praise and recognition. However, we rarely think about what it can do to the psyche of the survivors on whose behalf somebody got himself killed.
A great friend sacrificing himself for a friend may sometimes ruin the friend's life worse than the danger he was saved from might have.
Once again, I don't want to discard the idea of such self-sacrifice altogether, but (as I expressed elsewhere) I am highly sceptical about the extreme, almost morbid, fascination we have with the idea of getting ourselves killed on behalf of others rather than giving any credit to those trying to live on behalf of others.
