This is a preview of the next upcoming movie.  Since Detective Pikachu was such a hit, they've chosen to copy the realistic graphics to appeal to the audiences.  They believe that it'll be good, but a lot of fans are already questioning their decision.

The producers should’ve made sure that the final product wouldn’t look as awful as the design for Sonic in the Sonic The Hedgehog movie, but unfortunately they haven’t learned from their mistakes.

In all honesty, yes, I prefer the original Sonic design. That, to me, at least comes off laughably bad. Whereas live-action Ducky is just disturbing. O_o

On the new Sonic film starring Jim Carrey I cannot comment, since I haven’t seen it. But Sonic The Hedgehog The Movie (Anime) is great! Metal Sonic is creepy, and its a good storyline. Did you like Sonic X?
