I don't see anything wrong with observing even for a longer period of time before deciding whether or not to join either. One could hardly label it "spying" to read the messages in the public section of a board. They are MEANT to be read. And when you here you must be aware of a certain risk that stuff may be abused. One cannot be cautious enough in the internet and sometimes it is better to have been too careful ten times than having been too careless a single time. Land before time fan that I am I would still check out what kind of people there are in an LBT forum.

I've used the online list when there's a lot of members on to see who's reading what.  Usually I'll know where the next reply is because if you catch it right, it will say "posting in..."
