If you understand video games, you'll totally get this movie.  That's how simple I'm going to make it for ya.

I just saw this movie and it just rocks!  It is a video game movie, but it's not based off of just a single video game.  Rather, it takes the real world and makes that into a video game, which seems to work incredibly well, strangely.

Basically, the story of this is that a 22-year old Scott Pilgrim is dating a high school girl.  Everything seems okay, until he sees Ramona Flowers.  He goes out with the new girl and has the best night of his life. (First base, basically.) However, in order for him to continue dating her, he must defeat, to the death, her 7 evil exes with superpowers. (6 boyfriends and one girlfriend. (Hey, some girls are bi-curious.)) Also, every time he wins, the boss turns into a shower of cash.

Now, the movie also happens to be about Scott redeeming himself for his dating sins.  Basically, he broke up with practically every girl he went out with, with the latest one being a cheating deal.  The final battle pretty much resolves all that, and that part is really a must see.

The real sad part of this movie isn't actually something that happens in the movie, but rather a simple fact of the movie itself.  Basically, after the first week, it's in 5th place.  Yikes! :(

Then again, I kind of understand that.  I mean, as big as video games are, they aren't as big as something like a TV or a computer.  Basically, there's still a large population that doesn't get video games and will hate the movie because of that.  My mom is still trying to get video games herself, and she's 50 years old.  She only plays puzzle games, so it might explain why she only found it as being "OKAY and DIFFERENT".  I feel that, given a large amount of time, this movie will become more popular.  Much like Tron where no one fully understood computers at the time when it came out, but by now has become such a good old classic because people understood computers better, it got due for a sequel.

As for those who love video games, this is THE movie you must see this year.  Trust me, you'll thank me later.

See ya later! :)

I highly recommend bringing someone who has no clue about video games and such to this movie with you, just to see their confused expressions.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World isn't really a geek movie, it just has lots of references in it related to video games. Most geeks I know are not in a garage band, and don't have girlfriends either :p. I enjoyed the hell out of it, though.. and I feel incredibly nerdy for getting nearly every reference in it. The main reason to see this movie if anything else is the fight scenes, they kick ass!

also, vegan police.

WE ARE SEX BOB-OMB AND WE'RE HERE TO MAKE YOU THINK ABOUT DEATH AND FEEL SAD AND STUFF!

Best line in the movie :lol

This movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. The visuals were stunning, the characters were amusing, the music rocked, and the whole atmosphere was perfect. I actually went into this movie not expecting much, but I walked out of the theater loving every moment of it.

I think the reason why it didn't do well in theaters was because of what it was going up against. You had this movie, definitely geared towards retro gamers. You had The Expendables, which I also saw and loved as well, geared towards action fans. Then there's Eat, Love, and Pray, geared towards female audiences. There are more action fans out there than retro gamers, so obviously Expendables was appealing to a wider audience. I have faith though that this movie will excel in DVD sales because of the cult following it is brewing up.

I've seen this movie with my brothers and I've also read all six of the graphic novels this movie is based on.

The heart of this movie is definitely the big fight scenes. My favorite two fights are the ones with Matthew Patel for that funny song sequence, and the other being Lucas Lee for the skateboard rail death. LOL.

I guess the only complaint I have for this movie is the ending, it felt a bit rushed to me.

Darn shame it's not doing well on the money front.

Just got back from watching this movie and I must say that it was awesome, loved all the fights....especially the final fight, that was indeed rather epic.

They had a rather good style going with the movie as well, as in, all the words and "sound" being shown and what have you XD

I saw this about a week ago. Gotta say, being a gamer, I loved the gaming references. Loved the Universal logo pixellated and played chiptune style. The fight scenes are definitely the core attention grabbers but the comedy was quite well done too. And...shock! horror! Never thought I'd say this but... the video game of this movie is actually quite good too.

Deffo will be grabbing this when it lands on disc for home purchase. One of the best movies I've seen this year me thinks ;)

I really want to check it out. Amazing that I haven't seen this yet. I am the one who works at a  darn movie theater and thus gets free passes and still haven't seen it. It is on my list right below Going The Distance. I love a movie with Justin Long in it.

My bet is that this movie will do much better on home release.

I just heard that it'll come out on November 2nd.
