I just wanna know how the gang got down on the log in LBT 5.  I mean, if they just jumped down, wouldnt' it have rolled and they would have ended up in the water?

I'd say they jump and then they swim to the log and climbed on.

Highly unlikely since:

1.  they were so scared of the big water in the first place (petrie especially) that I don't believe they would have just jumped right in especially after the "big water" song describing dangerous and creepy creatures in there.

and

2.  They weren't wet when we see them next on the log.

Any other ideas?

Well when we see them next, it could have been long enough that they were dry.

Besides that's the only way they could have gotten down, far as I'm concerned. The log was on the water, not the beach. The only way they could have gotten to the log was through the water.

Maybe they didn't have to jump down; they could have gone onto the beach and swam over. Anyway going into the water was the only way they could have gotten on the log.

Speaking of beach, why did the gang start at a rocky cliff and when they got back, it was a sandy beach that was level with the water?

At first, I came up with the explanation in my mind that the log they pushed into the water and the one they were floating on to get across were not the same.  However, when I looked at the movie, I saw the logs were the same ones, so scrap that explanation.

I think it's just one of those, "Okay, let's just break the rules here" sort of deals.  It's all I can come up with really. -_-

Wow, it's 4AM but I'm about to attempt logic. Here goes nothing.

Well, the shore that was level with the water and the cliff could have been on the same side of the island. I think its possible that the log could have floated over to the shore from the cliff and they could've gotten on it from there. They probably just skipped the climbing aboard scene. I mean, it was probably a difficult process for all five of them to climb on and balance it just right, and, even though I think it would have been highly entertaining to see, I think the producers and animators just saw it as an unnecessary scene so they just jumped to the paddling.

But again, it's 4AM and I'm attempting logic, but that's my take on it.

I really laughed hard at that.  I could just picture the gang balancing on a log that was spinning in the water. :lol I would love to see that! :D

The only way that makes sense is the log floated over to the beach and they got on it there.

The other ways are a bit more silly.  Cera's uncontrolled teleport kicked in and teleported them there.  Littlefoot, though a resident longneck and not a farwalker longneck, had maybe just enough teleport or hyperjump ability for it to work this one time to pop the gang onto the log. I'm sure there are even more silly ideas some can come up with.

Due to the animation, it's impossible to tell when any characters are wet or not. After getting dunked into the water, both Cera and Petrie looked completely normal mere seconds afterwards.

I have no idea...Petrie could fly down, but the others?!

I was confused on seeing this too. I'd like to share that I had this weird memory for the longest time of the scene where they go to drink from the water only to find it's salty happening at the island, with them jumping off the cliff into the water, and then them singing "Big Water" back on the cliff. Boy, was I remembering wrong.

Maybe they got a vine, lassoed it to the log, then pulled it in.

Or maybe... (alert:randomness)

They had the power to move the currents...
They sprouted wings!
Cera yelled so loud on the other side of the log that it moved! :lol
A ghost pulled the log to shore!

Ok... After some randomness, I've ran out of ideas.   :smile

Even more confusing, is how did they get down into the lad of mists in 4? The only way down looked to be over that waterfall, which is definite suicide!!

^The simplest answer is that they didn't use that way. There must be an easier way that even adult longnecks can use. Same situation when the Gang found the Great valley. When you know you've finally reached your destination, you can calmly look around to find the easiest way in.

Yeah, that another thing I wish they'd shown. Them going down into the great valley.
