Something I noticed about 3...

Though I haven't seen 3 in forvever---I just saw about 20 secods of it on a youtube clip of Grandpa and Doc and Clubtail falling in a rockslide caused by Sharpteeth and Hyp running away and his father yelling at him to get back; I think. I had it muted. But I don't remember that part in the slightest.

One thing I do remember, though---vividly---is that in the beginning when the main cast members are being introduced by the narrator, Littlefoot gets the "and" credit! I remember picking up on that even as a kid, which is strange, since usually it's Spike or Petrie who gets the "and" credit.

It's been a while since I've seen 3 as well, but if I remember right I think the way the narrator introduces Littlefoot is meant to show he's the main character. As in, he's building up the list 'till it reaches the protagonist.
