Rumor - Next XBox Will Only Function When Online

So, rumor floating around that the next XBox console will only function if it has an online connection.

You know, in my opinion, this isn't going to work.  I mean, the used game rumor was bad enough, but add on this and if both turn out to be true, I'm not buying it.

Let's just hope it won't happen.

Am I the only person who isn't looking forward to next gen? Everything I've been hearing about the next wave of consoles sounds awful. PS4 apparently also has this "no used disc" policy. In addition to that, it will also play ads during gameplay. So I guess that means that if I'm about to fight a boss, I'm gonna get an ad first before fighting? Now the Nextbox is going the same route...great.

Next gen may be the very gen that I switch to PC if these rumors are true. The Wii U looks like the only next gen console that shows any real promise. Thankfully I've still got a ton of PS3, XBox and Wii games to go through so I guess it's not that bad for me. Still though...

I wouldn't let mere rumors swade over your future purchases. No need to worry anyway, we have till the 20th before Sony reveals the PS4 or their next generation portable toaster or w/e, and we'll know for a fact what their next decisions will be by then (rereading this I forgot we were talking about Microsoft LOL Either way I literally see no way for them to implement this and expect profit so it won't happen)

I'll probably be switching to PC next generation personally, like animeboye

Anyone who has played Diablo 3 should know the feeling that always requiring online can be a real pain so I hope that this isn't going to be the case with Xbox. As for the rumors for the PS4, Sony's press conference is later today so hopefully if they reveal the PS4 they can prove these rumors wrong about used games and such (unless they reinforce it which would suck).

I recently watched IGN's video announcing new official details about the PS4. And so far, there has been no comment confirming a "no used games" policy.

Sony confirmed that the PS4 will not block used games. Now, we wait until E3 to see what Microsoft has cooking in their pot.

I heard that same rumor as well. And no one is gonna buy that. This is probably a way of Microsoft to make even more money or as a connection to the phone company. No sure if those are right but I'm guessing that is the only reason why they're making this internet access.
