So, I just got done watching The Angry Video Game Nerd: The Movie.

In short, I'd say it's... not that bad of a movie.  It's decent and I enjoyed it, but it's not a great one.

To elaborate further, I will say that you should not set any great expectations for this movie.  I will tell you right now that it is easy to tell just how fake some of the stuff is, but that seems to be the charm of it.  By the 30 minute mark, I didn't care how much "you can tell it's fake" stuff there was and just enjoyed the ride.

People have to remember that this was all funded by donations of less than half a million, and to accomplish something like this is a testament of true loyalty and dedication.  Most people making a movie would just give up if they had that much to work with.  So yeah, the "you know it's fake" stuff, pretty much something that's a given with how low budget it was.

Some say that The Nerd is out of character in this film.  That he doesn't put on as much angry as he does in his reviews.  However, one thing I have noticed is just how much less "angry" The Nerd has become as time has gone on.  He is not the same person as he was back at the beginning.  This is something that happens with a lot of great shows.  The characters evolve and change as they go through life experiences and mature through time itself.  Him being less angry in this movie is a part of The Nerd's character development over time.  So really, it's not a bad thing that he is less angry in the movie than he is in his reviews.

So, to sum it up.  Don't have high expectations for this movie.  Don't expect greatness, but at least expect to be entertained for the near 2 hours the movie lasts.

Remember, it's decent, but it's not great.

That's all from me.

See ya later! :wave

That is something that I have noticed as well.  His later reviews of truly horrible games (like Action 52 or Big Rigs Racing, for example) are noticeably less angry that his earlier reviews of less terrible games. I might be in the minority on this, but I actually prefer his less angry reviews and his non-AGN stuff on Cinemassacre.  He is very good at capturing the nostalgia of the older game titles and reviewing them in a way that appeals to me.  I have not seen the AVGN movie yet, but I might have to check it out later.

Go ahead and check out my fanfictions, The Seven Hunters, Songs of the Hunters, and Menders Tale.

I've not noticed it, though I've not been looking for it either.   Maybe it was to gradual for me to notice.   I have been watching and enjoying his Monday Mike and James play, though I usually download and watch it on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
