The Big Picture

What do you think the BIG picture of the movie series would be? This is a very sweeping question, I know. There's no right or wrong answer.

I believe that the first movie had a strong anti-racist theme, yet, the sequels failed to continue it well enough. Very few solutions are offered for what will happen when Chomper grows up, and if the series continued onto adulthood, we would probably see irreconcilable differences emerge, as opposed to bringing them all together in one happy valley.

Well since by the end of the first movie they had all become best friends, I don't think they needed to continue with the racist themes, even though they were still shown in Cera's dad in the earlier sequels. Also since you had mentioned Chomper, if he were to grow up, I don't think he'd all of a sudden decide to try to eat Littlefoot and the others. Remember in LBT 5, near the very end, we see Chomper's parents protect Littlefoot, Chomper and the others from another Sharptooth that had been on the island. And after Littlefoot saved Chomper from drowning, the gand befriend Chomper and his parents. So I think that just because Chomper grows up, that doesn't exactly mean that he'll go after the gang. He may eat the carcasses of deceased dinosaurs is my most likely guess.

I think the big picture that the series is addressing is friendship. Throughout the series, we see just how close Littlefoot and his friends are to one another and just how much they mean to one another. I'd even say they're the brothers and sisters each other never had(Wasn't sure how to word that properly

). But yeah, it's late here and my mind is tired so I'm not sure what else to say so I'll end it with this.

Sounds good, except for the fact that they keep running off or running away.

I'm sure most parents wouldn't like it if their kids did THAT.

Not to mention that all the adults in the Great Valley are really incompatant and spend most of their time arguing with one another than actually doing something

Lol, the kids act more grown-up than them. In the "Escape from the Mysterious Beyond" episode, I kept shouting "GET A GROWN-UP!" when they were trying to figure out a way to help Ducky and Chomper. There's a good example of a lesson. "If you have a REALLY bad problem...get a grown-up."

If nothing else, and adult is large enough to handle to situation, just like in movie six, where they DO get Littlefoot's grandfather to help. And it works!

I may be incorrect for assuming this but I thought that all the sequels had a theme (along with morals)? The outstanding one which I recall the clear theme was in the third movie about sharing (the title Great Giving made that very clear for me;)).

You know, in every single movie, teamwork comes into play.
Maybe THAT'S the theme. And boy are there a lot in the first movie! Getting the greenfood, saving Cera from the Domeheads (in a silly fashion at that), getting rid of Sharptooth, surviving...

Actually they fought against sharpteeth every time they could
Remember LBT 1 and 2 when Petrie and Ducky were risking their lives for Spike
Rolled stones and snowballs on sharpteeth in 10 and 8, Tinisaures attacked sharpteeth by themselves!And Mo risking his life for the gang and there much more examples

Reminds me of Congress.

Anyway, I think most Shaprteeth in LBT are incompetent, with the exception of Sharptooth, the Plated Sharptooth, Dil and Ichy (they were actually doing quite well, as they almost got Littlefoot, Petrie, and Ducky), and Chomper (yes, he cornered the Gang of Five twice with just his shadow!

)

I actually think Chomper might be MORE competent than even Sharptooth. I mean, he can do the following.

1.) Learn Leaf Eater despite being around the Gang of Five for only a few hours (unless he was spying on other Leaf Eaters later)

2.) Remember the Gang's names despite only have been around them for a few hours.

3.) Hop across the Sinking Sands (he was doing quite well)

4.) The intelligence he showed even in the second movie (Great Valley Adventure)

I think the various movies and some episodes too have different themes. Teamwork and friendship and ignoring differences seems to be an overlapping theme though.
