What a situation Jana and I were stuck in only a couple hours ago.

Jana wanted to leave to get something to eat, and it was snowing out. I thought 'Why not?' so we drive down the hill, a bit slick because the car we were in was not built to drive on such conditions. Jana started to joke that her hunger is worth risking our lives, and we had a good laugh about it as we headed towards Arby's to grab something to eat.

Jana made a turn on Gypsy Hill Road, which she hadn't meant to do and she was not supposed to be on that road anyway. But unable to turn around, we went along the road anyway. Gypsy Hill Road is low to the ground at first, then it rises up higher and higher until it forms a sort of miniature cliff, steep but muddy not rocky. And there's a river at the bottom of it all, along with lots of large trees.

As we went up and neared the top, Jana lost traction in the tires, and we felt ourselves going straight towards the edge. We started to go over, but we stopped, narrowly missing the steep part of the edge. A bunch of wooden plants and trees were right in the path and thankfully kept us from going any further. We were stuck at a near 40 or 45 degree angle. A couple people stopped to see if we were all right, but most of them left, except for one guy who stuck by us the whole time.

Jana dialed 911 and the police cam to help us out of the car, which was undamaged as well as us, and they got a towtruck to pull it out. But it cost over $120 and if we couldn't pay the fine, we would lose the car until we could. Jana started to break down because she needed the car to get to school for finals. I was calm the whole time, though. We were escorted to the bodyshop, and after speaking to the secretary there, I was able to get to a bank to get money out, escorted by the same guy who was with us the whole time. Jana felt terrible about making me pay so much and offered to cook me food when we got home.

Mom and dad found out about what happened and asked us more about it. Jana lied to them about what road we were really on, because she was never supposed to take it. Mom had forbidden her to take that road until she had a year's experience driving. If she found out Jana disobeyed her, she would be furious. Jana made me promise not to tell mom and dad the truth, so I'll keep my mouth shut.

No one was hurt however and the car was undamaged. We were shaken up, Jana worse than I, but we were fine. But I don't think we'll be taking that road for quite sometime after that incident.

Winter driving isn't fun....main reason I don't like winter.  I've had my near misses sliding down hills and almost into another car waiting at an intersection.

Glad you're safe.

I am glad that you and your driver weren't hurt physically.

I am personally not a car person. There are too many cars that don't have very high mpg.

Oh my...Well, I'm glad you're okay, Darkhououmon. :)
Winter driving can be pretty bad here, too.  The drive to and from work every day in the middle of January isn't exactly my idea of a good time...
