The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Finally!

I'm very happy to have finally found a gadget for the vista sidebar that uses VLC to play videos.  I got fed up with having to screw around with video codecs a long time ago so I got the K-lite codec pack, DIVX codec, and VLC.  Both the K-lite and DIVX codec take a while to load and put an annoying little icon in the system tray.  It's extremely annoying, especially when making music videos and trying to load several clips simultaneously.  In addition, the codecs can be slow, causing the program or windows to lose stability and sometimes crash.  I like VLC's integrated codec package, but unfortunately all the sidebar media players rely on the installed codecs on your computer.  I've finally found one that relies only on VLC to supply the proper codecs.  Here's a link to it on my server if you want it.  Trust me, it's the only player you'll ever need.  MUST INSTALL VLC BEFORE IT WILL WORK:

Oh, and here's an example of what can happen when you rely on external codecs when making a music video.  It's NOT pretty! :p

You're right...K-Lite is garbage, always has been.

If you want a player with integrated codecs independent of the computer you're using you're stuck with three choices.

1.) VLC
2.) The KMPlayer
3.) GOM Player

I haven't used VLC in ages because KM has a much more feature-rich set to improve video quality and it actually can play those .flv videos from youtube properly.  GOM I only installed once to try it and its halfway between the functionality of VLC and KM.
