It's spelled "Castlevania" actually, and yes that game is based,if not connected to Bram Stoker's Dracula , for example, in Bram Stoker's Dracula there was a character named Quincey Morris who was the love intrest of Lucy, however in the game Castlevania Bloodlines on of the two playable characters was named John Morris, his bio mentions that he is the son of Quincey Morris.

dracyula set the standard for vampires, even now.. twilight doesn't rank as true vampire fiction, but is more about teenage agnst personified.

yes there were books before dracula - vampyr and carmilitta among others, dracula was the first film about a vampiere to majke it bigh with spoken dialogue
