The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Behind the RPG stage

Hi!
This thread is meant to discuss any questions, problems, suggestions etc. that may come up during the RPG. I think here we can also make pols in case decissions need to be made on what turn the plot is supposed to take. I suppose it is best if we talk about this while the story is proceeding rather than make it up completely beforehand and I also suppose we better talk about elemental questions rather than having everyone trying to pull the RPG in a different direction.
The basic plot suggestion of Threehorn is:
Quote
the idea is that a herd from far away lands escape the cold but when they arrive at the Great Valley they're met with not welcomed looks being a herd that care for themselves mostly and the rudiness they give to the welcome party just from the looks as they walk by. giving some real trouble to Little and friends when a group of kids from that herd that arrived treating him and the gang nothing more then nobodies.
I suggest for the RPG to be titled "Cold land's herd".
By the way Roger, is it possible to enable pols in this thread? It would make some questions easier to deal with if we can just hit a button on the various options provided.

There is already the first matter to decide for the story. A herd from colder regions is comming to the Great Valley.
Do you think it should be a herd of members of only one species, or should it rather be a herd of different kinds?

The first variant makes it likely that the herd, while sticking together as a collective, is very racialist against other kinds; while they may be not as repelling against members of their own species.
The other variant makes it likely that the herd, while not being hostile towards any specific kind in particular, consists of very opportune members. It would probably provoke tensions within the herd as well and a kind of mood along the lines of: "everyone for oneself, don't care about the others".

Personally I'd prefer the second variant, on the one hand because it would provide us with more species and on the other hand for the personal reason that I have been dealing with a racist herd of threehorns in my current fanfiction already, so there is not too much new in this idea for me.

I agree, It would be a differant approach. The origanl LBT dealt with alought of pregides against differant speices, so a herd that was an every-Dinosaur-for-himself group would be very interesting.

Anybody else? No votes will be interpreted to mean that either way is alright with you. I'll wait a little more and then continue.

Indeed, there is safety in numbers.  The idea of having a herd of different adult dinosaurs who are from the traditional mindset of herds being of a single type would be an interesting viewpoint.  They are together for the sake of survival.

Should there be the inclusion of a Littlefoot-like character, who is more interested in a strong community of all different kinds of dinoaurs (like the original LBT)?  Perhaps this character is less accepted in the herd, and needs to make a stand with the dinosaurs in the Great Valley to convince the others that working together can be a great thing.

Just a thought.

Sounds like a good idea there.  Maybe the character is from a species of dinosaur that's naturally small?

Just a small question, but I was wondering, when we get the kids into trouble, and most likely out of the valley, should they be stuck with one of the "every-Dinosaur-for-himself" herd members? Also, what type of Sharptooth would be considered as the main villian?
