Hi. I just wanted your opinion if it would be ok if I did this..

2 days ago, I drew one of the short pteranodons from the LBT 7 intro. I REALLY like him. He looks very handsome. I love his muscle tone and his soft neck ring.

I like how his crest curves down (as opposed to a crest that curves up, like Pterano's for example)

I think I could make a character out of him.

(the 3 pteranodons only appeared for 13 seconds...they didn't talk and didn't have names. They were just random flyers. I don't think anyone would recognize them.)

I really like that short LBT 7 intro pteranodon I drew! When I showed the 3 drawings I made of that short pteranodon to my mom, she said "Wow. Very good. You did a wonderful job!"

I told my mom about the 3 LBT 7 intro pteranodons and that they were only on screen for 13 seconds...and that they didn't have names, and didn't talk.

I told her that "I didn't want to get caught copying" She thinks it's ok and she agrees that I could learn how to animate that short Pteranodon in an animation class.

I plan on maybe taking an animation class in college in the future. I REALLY could learn how to animate him. I could give him a name, learn how to animate him on a computer, make him flap his wings, talk, or swoop down and catch a fish to eat, among other things...

So, is it ok if I do this, or not? :(  It was only 13 seconds...

Heh, go for it! I have to admit, I kinda like the look of those three as well. I kinda like the whole beginning of LBT 7, mainly because of the hugely obvious jump in animation from the 6th and 7th movies. The character animation is almost back on par with the original in the first few minutes of the movie.

But yeah, if you got the skills, it would be awesome to see these guys in action. Even if it's just a movement-cycle of them flying or walking or something.
If you want, I can tell you how you could set up a 2D animation station for pretty cheap.

That's a good idea, but I couldn't do that right now...

(Living in our 1,100 square foot condo with mom, dad, sister, and 2 dogs..waiting for our old house in Michigan to sell...and I don't have a room of my own here..the living room is my bedroom at night. I sleep on a hide-a-bed on the couch, and it isn't really comfortable, either.

The only computer we have here is my mom's laptop computer. I DO have a computer of my own back in my bedroom in michigan, but it's kinda old. (I know the printer, speakers, mouse and keyboard are about 12 years old... But I DO want to get a new computer for myself (once we move to a house and I have my very own bedroom again..)

I do plan on going back to college this fall and maybe learn how to animate, (but my mom says that I would have to take the steps to get there and start with basic classes first (like english and math) and she said "don't worry, we'll get you a tutor for math."

But I want to wait until my family and I have moved into our new Florida house, and i'm all settled into my new bedroom before we talk about the animation station..

But the 2D animation station sounds like a great idea. I bet I could learn some skills and like you said....

"it would be awesome to see these guys (LBT 7 intro pteranodons) in action. Even if it's just a movement-cycle of them flying or walking or something."

Yes. I would love to see them in action and learn how to make them fly or walk.

The animation station sounds like a great idea, but wait until my family and I move into our Florida house first. (The condo is way too small!)

My goal (for now) is to get a starter job and get a car of my own before college starts this fall. (I'll also be getting the $5,600 I loaned out to my parents back as soon as out Michigan house sells)

But keep your idea in mind. I like it.

If you wanted to know, my mom was still "up" today on the 3 drawings I did of one of the 2 short pteranodons from the LBT 7 intro. I showed them to her yesterday... I drew one full body shot of him in the pose he does before Cera interrupts Petrie's story.. and then I drew 2 other head shots of him looking "happy" and "shocked".

I really like him and sure, i'd love to learn how to make him fly or walk. That would be lots of fun to do. :D  :yes

I like your idea, Allicloud.

Here's a couple free 2D animation programs you could try to use.
