I can't believe this is happening. o_o;;;  The Derby forest fire that's said to be contained has now doubled in size and is now dangerously close to my small town of Big Timber, Montana! O_O;;;  Already it has doubled in size, burned over a dozen homes to the ground and 350 people have been evacuated! O_O;;;;;;  This is the biggest Montana fire to date and has covered over 40,000 acres!  The Interstate to Billings is closed and the smoke plume looks like a thunder cloud! O_O;;;;;;;;;;;;;

If you know someone out of state who's willing to house you for a while, I'd recommend taking them up on that offer at this point.

Well, my town isn't really in danger, yet.  I just hope they get this fire under control because right now it's very unstable.  :blink:

Or even take temporary residence in a hotel out of state and out of the path of the fire as well.  Would be a good time to consider it before it gets a bit too close.  Stay safe.  ;)

Like I said, we haven't been told to evacuate yet.  And we don't know if Big Timber is in any potential danger.

All right, but if it gets to the point where you think you could really be in danger, you don't have to wait for an official evacuation order.

I'm afraid the number and intensity of woodfires is going to increase, same as all the other disasters which are fuelled by the global warming. There have been horrible woodfires in Portugal too and here in Germany we get tornados all the time know, while tornados in Germany used to be about as likely as a blizzard in the sahara.

Oh god.  Today the Derby Mountain forest fire(the one that's just outside my town for anybody who's new to the subject) has been marked the biggest and worst forest fire in the US this year!  O.O

My suggestion? GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE! You can rebuild homes, you can't rebuild lives... that goes for pets too..  :x
