Cyberlizard, you seriously need to take a look at how bad a lot of the animation graphics for 80s cartoons were as compared to what we can do now.

They didn't have computers to fix animation glitches. They only had pencils, pens, crayons, paint, and paper. Make a mistake, and they'd have to halt production to fix it, which they often didn't have the time or budget to do. Thqat is why so many of the 80s animated series featured blaring continuity errors.
Although I have to say I actually prefer 80s and early-mid 90s animation to the garbage we typically make these days. Its too stylized now. I'm a fan of "keep it simple"!
