The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

I'm not really doing anything. A year ago me and my parents, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin and grandparents celebrated my Grandpa's birthday by going out for dinner and then coming back and having cake, and we all watched movies on TV, and drank sparkling cider and watched the fireworks show in Seattle on TV, and toasted and had a great time, and me and my family got home at about 1:30 in the morning! It was pure awesomnesss! Like LBT 4, or Mariah Carey's version of "Open Arms!" Anyways I'm not really doing anything this year so I'll be here on the Gang of Five probably.

What RU guys doing?

Likely I"ll do like usual, stay at home alone.  To me New Year's eve is just another day.  But one where I assume every store is closed and such.

Doing nothing...I'll be spending it in bed because I can never stay awake for midnight to roll around.

It's past midnight here. We simply sat together in front of the television, listening to the Top 2000 (dutch radio composed by all listeners who can vote). Afterwards we had some champagne, wished each other the best and went outside to spectate some awesome fireworks. Listening to a metal radio station online atm. Now time for bed :D

Having a sleepover with my friend. Nothing else, really. We just watched "Whip It" and that's pretty much it.

Either way, happy new year, everybody! :)

I usually watch the "The Three Stooges" marathon on New Years Eve, but since we recently cut the cable (paying too much for hardly anything on TV), so I'm watching scary movies ;).

Awesome! I'm gonna watch "Jounrey to Big Water" this year, but I might do that next year!  :smile

I went out some 20 minutes before midnight and walked to the square in front of the theatre not far from my home. But I stayed for only about half an hour past midnight. I suppose as a kid this would have fascinated me more, but by now some of the fireworks seem to resemble handgranates more than anything entertaining being so deafeningly noisy that they really make the windows vibrate. Worse is that there are quite a few idiots who actually use those things like grenades throwing them after people :bang
With a hospital nearby only the sirens of the ambulances could be heard over the noise of the "crackers". I used to be more into this, but by now I think I would prefer fireworks arranged by a professional pyrotechnican over the havoc created by thousands of people all setting off their explosives at the same time.

My New Year was almost fantastic. The celebration started in 7 p.m. yesterday and ended in 5 a.m today. I lost track of how many pizzetas I ate and how many beers I drank.  We played cards, danced and had fireworks of our own, which made a nice sight in the sky. The only downside was that a close friend got drunk and suddenly entered into a terrible mood, and said some very ugly stuff to his girlfriend, who is also a friend of mine.
