Thanks guys' Ali said softly as she pulled away from Littlefoot to welcome Rhette and Shorty. She was a wreck, her eyes were puffy, and red, and the residue of tears were clearly visible on her face. It was tough to even look at her without choking up..

"Hi Ali"They both said sadly choking back on tears themselves.Rhett sat next to Ali in order to comfort her. "I loved your mom Ali she was one of the people who helped convince the old one to join up with your herd. You are way to nice a girll for something like this to happen to. And I will miss your mother greatly"Rhett said on the verge of tears himself. But trying his best to comfort her.

A few minutes later the first of the rescue party reached the Arch. The Old One came in a short time later "Ali! Come forward please" She said somberly.
_ Ali reluctantly came up. "Yes, old One? Where's my mother?' The Old One sighed. "Ali, this pains me greatly to tell you. Your mother... is gone." Ali's eyesflew wide "NO!" She screamed. "MOTHER!"Tears flowed out of her eyes. "Ali, Your mother, before she passed, told us to place you with a longneck family in the Valley, but if we can't find one who is willing to take care of you..then the herd wil take care of you as a group."The Old One Said tryingto to reassure her. "leave me alone !' Ali said angrily, and ran away from the stone arch.

The two fast runners was heading down then saw Ali run they hid and watched "It seem they told her of the mother has passed on" Leafty whispers

"yes but if what our mother does works she will be alive but take time to awake and heal" Swifty replied back looking at his sister.

"If our way of help before the final breath of death and the stop of the beat happens the longeck will shift a little not much but enough to show it working" Leafty said

"Hope for the best mother" Swifty whispers and they slowly hide to follow Ali keeping out of distance and moving quietly.

The Old One sighed "We will be leaving at the end of the week,any family who wished to adopt Ali into thier family is welcome to step forward and indicate thier interest, at the end of the week I will decide who she will be placed with. Any family who is interested has until sundown Friday to ask for a audience with her. "

Cera turn hearing something running in her direction she got up and saw Ali with her eyes closed running right at her "Ali watch out!!!" Cera cried only moments from Ali colliding into her.

ali opened her eyes just in time to avoid running into Cera. "Thanks Cera. I would have bumped into you otherwise' Ali said quietly. She was still recovering from the body blow the news of her mother's death had given her..

Cera notice Grandpa Longneck nod then leave without Ali noticing he was there "I guess they got back... with bad news..." Cera turn away looking to the water again "maybe you'd should sit somewhere to think it through... I am not the right one to talk about things like that... I might say something horrible like a long time ago..." Cera said in a quietish tone Ali never seeing this side of Cera before as the threehorn just stared at the water.

Cera was watching her go then said "aren't you wondering at all that I am being more different that ususally?" Cera said to Ali since she felt like needing to talk to someone around her age and hope Ali caught onto it. For a moment Cera thought they could help each other out by talking about what troubling them so deeply Cera only guessing Ali uptight about the bad news Ali got.

Cera thought about it "well the only longneck family I know of and who been in your postion of losing a mother to sharpteeth is Littlefoot" Cera look at Ali "she saved both of us from the sharptooth and deep underground. He'd most likely to understand more what your going through and his Grandparents are really careing" Cera spoke trying her best to help.

"Well Littlefoot's dad took in Shorty when he had no one and Bron is like his father Grandpa Longneck, if you talk to him about it I am sure that Littlefoot's Grandpa be very understanding." Cera got up turning around to Ali. "If you like I'll be there to support you in any way, it the least I can do instend of mopping around by the waterhole all day."

Just then.. a longneck from Ali's herd came up to them. "Ali, come with me please' He said. "We've gotten a number of families who are possibly interested in adopting you. So far we've had 4 families, you will spend a day with each of them, based on the order they applied. Tommorow, you will visit your first family."

Cera then speaks up "Why can't she choose!?" Cera yelled. "Give her a break will you! She just lost her mum! She needs time to think!!!! If needed I will ask daddy she stay with us so she can think in a natural place that not a longneck family, so she can have a clear head to think it over!!" Cera bellowed in Ali's defence suprising the longneck, Ali and even her father who heard her yelling from a bit away and make a move to see what the problem is.

Just then the young flyer called Longtail glided down towards the meeting place, and almost immediatly could tell something wasn't right. He then noticed Littlefoot and Rhett and decided to find out what was wrong.

Longtail landed next to Littlefoot, looked up to him and asked "What's wrong here...why is everyone so sad?"

This is a matter for her elders to decide, young threehorn' the adult longneck said. "ali's mother requested that she be placed with a resident longneck Valley, she did not mention a specific family. Second, ali's mother was her only caregiver, she is too young to care for herself. Furthermore, While we will make the best attempts to find a family that she likes, we cannot guarantee it.."
