Hello everyone,
A few months ago the idea was floated by Sneak and a few other members of allowing user-created themes on the forum. As the new forum architecture supports multiple themes this was an idea that rhombus and I thought deserved serious consideration. Now we think that we have found a way to allow people to code their own test themes without disrupting the forum.
The .zip file I have created contains three .html files, which are for verifying how the themes look after editing. The editing is done by opening the 'css.css' file in the CSS folder with a text editor, like Notepad++ or Sublime Text. Once it's open, it's only a matter of knowing a bit of CSS or doing a bit of research on it. We urge anyone who would like to create skins to give it a try. Unleash your imagination! :?)
So once your new theme is ready to go, just zip your files, upload them to a file-sharing site, and then include a link to that file in a PM that you send to either rhombus or myself. From there, if the forum theme is deemed to be functional, it can presented to the forum as a possible option to be discussed and voted upon. Currently our plan is to add no more than one theme per season so as to allow time for content creators to work on their respective themes and to have people discuss and eventually vote on the options.
For those of you who are interested, we look forward to seeing what you come up with.
