The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Lovely pictures Sky :yes
Iris has a point though. However, I don't think that it is wrinkles but rather proportions that would do the trick to make them look older. In relationship to the rest of their bodies their heads would not be as large anymore as they would be in case of young kids. And the ratio of the eyes to the rest of the face would also change so they would not longer be as big eyed (which often makes a lot of what is perceived as cute appealing to the human instinct of protection).

For being teenagers, Littlefoot and Cera are still quite small.  Remember when Grandpa Longneck refers to 'The Time of Great Growing' as a milestone in his life in the longneck test episode?

Also, I think Cera was pretty well done (apart from being larger) but Littlefoot still looks like a kid because of how fair the lines on his face are.  Malte is right about the porportion of the head to the body too, as the older you are the smaller your head will be comparatively.

Good art though and keep it up... I'm interested to see what you are producing for your comic.  :smile

I like how the pictures look.  And Littlefoot may be older in the picture, but maybe not a teen yet, and not the age Cera is in her picture.  Maybe between his age in the movies and as a teen.

I hate to say it, but apart from Cera’s horns (including the extra pair of nubs on her frill), I don’t notice much difference. :oops Still good pictures, though. :yes

As far as making Littlefoot more mature-looking, the first thing I would suggest is getting rid of the puffy cheeks so that the corners of his mouth are visible. I don’t know why the animators gave him those in the TV series; he didn’t have them in any of the previous movies, and adding the cheeks only made him look younger than he did in the first movie. Besides that, perhaps you could make his snout and tail slightly longer, and also make the end of his tail thinner and more sinuous.

As for Cera, I actually think her head looks a little small for her body. (Remember that threehorns have rather large heads, especially with their frills.) Conversely, I also got the impression that her feet are just a little too large in proportion to her body.

Hello:
I like the concepts for a more grown-up versions of the gang. Littlefoot does still look quite child-like, so he may be just a few years older than he is in the movies and tv serie. Cera looks very good, she is like annoyed for some reason (she always looks like that anyways :D ).
 Keep it up!

Looks like drawing them a little older is not an easy task.  :p

Thanks for the critiques and tips, I really appreciate it. :yes I will try these two again along with Petrie and Ducky and hopefully succeed this time.

Finished Petrie and Ducky :D, but first Littlefoot and Cera again.
I followed your advice and they DO look older now.
Made Littlefoot's head and eyes smaller, his snout and tail a bit longer, changed his neck a little and removed his cheeks. As for Cera, I made her head and frill larger and her feet and eyes smaller (but she still looks like a child to me ).

And this is the result I'm really happy about :):

And now to Petrie and Ducky...
Ok, I have absolutely no idea how to turn Petrie into a teen. >_<
He looks like a rejected version of Pterano. Speaking of Pterano, I'm not sure if I should give Petrie claws like him or hands and feet like his mom (she's like a big version of Petrie. :p)
Any ideas to solve this problem?

As for Ducky... oh my, I love how she came out. :wub
But she looks more of an adult, does she? I'm not sure...

Hello:
Well, Cera does look like she is still a little kid, except for the new horns :D . As for petrie, I think you should include the claws, because all male adult Flyers we have seen have claws (as far as I remember). Ducky looks great, so does Littlefoot. So now you are just missing Spike! :smile .
 Keep it up!

Fantastic improvements with Littlefoot and Cera. :yes (I do think Littlefoot’s neck looks a little thick, and was the one thing that I liked better before.) Unfortunately, in Littlefoot’s case, apart from the smaller eyes, I still can’t really tell that he’s supposed to look older, and I’m at a loss for suggestions. :oops

Petrie’s head looks great (I like that you kept a the slight jaggedness he has to his beak), but his body looks rather skinny, and his legs a little long. Overall I think his proportions are a little too human-like. I would suggest making his fingers and toes more pointed (maybe not with claws like Pterano’s; I suspect his design included those to make him look just a little menacing), but keeping them black.

I really like how you drew Ducky. She looks much older, but not fully adult, and still manages to be quite cute. :DD I might suggest making her crest and forearms (not the whole arm; just the area between the elbow and the wrist) just a little thinner. Also, the position of her tail looks just a little odd; it seems to curl very sharply downwards and forwards (almost to an unnatural-looking extent), and doesn’t look quite sufficient to balance her given how far forward she is leaning. (My proposed solution is rather complex, so please bear with me. :oops) Right now the position of Ducky’s tail looks like this: ). My suggestion is to bow it further outward, so that the shape of the curve is more of a half-circle than a flattened arch. This would involve changing the inside outline of the tail (the part behind her knee) as well as the outside outline which connects with her back. The top of her tail would slope much less steeply downward from her back, as would the side that connects with her leg. The tip of her tail, meanwhile, would not need to have its shape or position changed at all. The result is that you would make the tail longer, its base thicker (more like Littlefoot's and Cera's in your other images), and its position more realistic.

It occurs to me that perhaps you are working with limited space (possibly the reason you drew Ducky’s tail curving so far forward in the first place), but if you were to only move the outer curve of the tail to the edge of the image, I would think that would be sufficient.

Ducky and Littlefoot look great indeed! I like cera this tiny bit better too :D

As for Petrie, I totally do not know how to make him look less like pterano.. I guess I'm missing the big eyes compared to the rest of his face, which is typical for petrie :P:

Those pictures do look good.  As for if Petrie should have claws like his uncle or not you have his mother for an example, and also various adult flyers that are the same type as Petrie, which I assume at least 1 or 2 of the judges in the 12th movie maybe were the same type as Petrie is for some other examples.

Wow, these pictures are ridiculously good!

If another LBT movie is made, I'm suggesting that you, GVG, and Lillefot are the animators :D

Thank you guys. :^.^:

And big thanks to Pangaea for the helpful critique. :yes
So here are Petrie and Ducky again but much more improved:

Petrie Looks way better now but still far from perfection. As for Ducky, well, this is what I understood from your solution. I hope I got it right.  :oops

As for the next two...

I had a hard time with Spike here. Used a reference from an episode for help.
As for Ruby, I really like how she came out. :) (though, she looks unchanged :p)

That leads us to the last one: Chomper.
He's younger than the rest of the gang in the movies so he'll be somewhere in his early teens (maybe a tween). Let's see how he'll end up...  :)

Well Ruby was a bit older than the gang anyway. I like new ducky! Really pretty :)

I like how Spike came out too, he still looks like him :D

Ducky does look better :yes.  She's pretty yet you've managed to maintain her cuteness :smile.

They all look good ;).

All of these pictures are excellant, though I think you should go back and redo Littlefoot and Cera because they still look like they are children as opposed to adolescants.

I like Ruby and Spike, and Ducky is particularly well done (I had guessed that she would be the hardest to do since we haven't really seen any swimmers apart from large adults and little children).

Petrie does look better, but his limb and body proportions still look a little strange to me. I think his lower legs should be thinner (maybe his fingers and toes as well). If you look at other flyers, like Pterano, their shins and ankles are very slender compared to their thighs. His arms, too, might benefit from being made a little thinner (though I'm less certain of that ).

As far as I'm concerned, you did. :yes I would have drawn Ducky’s tail in an even rounder arc, but other than that, this is pretty much exactly what I was envisioning. Fantastic work. :DD

True, Ruby doesn’t look that much different, but I still immediately recognized her as being older. You did a great job giving her a more adult-looking head.

Spike looks excellent. :wow He is obviously older, but still distinctly Spike, particularly in the thick neck, round body, banded belly scales, and laid-back facial expression. :lol I do think he should have a couple of plates on his tail. Also, maybe it’s me, but his left front leg is so far to the right that I don’t see how it could still be attached to his body.

Aaahhh... finally another update.  :D I managed to sketch a few pictures in school:

Chomper... well, his head bugs me a bit. But I can't figure out why.
Not much difference. His body is a bit larger than normal. :)

What's this? A new character? :D
She has no name yet but maybe you can help me a bit. :! Her personality is also still under development though. :p

Enjoy.  :wave
