The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Yep yep yep, it's bad....

Anyone who had read my suggestion for a new challenging game in "Brain Food" read that I said I was having trouble with my laptop and the sound.  Well, it didn't take long but I honestly couldn't get anything to make any sound, and I even had my dad look it over.  We came to the conclusion, it's definitely terminal, and likely a chip on the motherboard puckered out. :(  So I have no sound at all.

This is the bad part....I have to send it back to Dell for them to fix it.  :cry2  :cry2   I don't want to but they don't give me much of a choice.  At least this is under warranty (barely) so I don't have to shell out hundreds of dollars for a new motherboard.  I will still be able to access computers on campus but I'll be most likely be doing work on them instead of recreation so it could be a good two weeks starting with March 21 that I may be gone.

Thank god for computer warranties.....

Yes it is good to hear your able to get it fixed. A shame for that laptop to play up like that. annoying it is I know. I had to reset my Laptop from the beginning because of one stupid adware that I couldn't get rid off.

Well spyware isn't anywhere close to the same problem as a hardware issue.  I could take care of a spyware problem in ten minutes...I can't fix a hardware problem. ;)

Of course this wasn't here a year ago when I purchased my laptop but this model is apparently notorious for overheating because Dell didn't design the system right.    Guess I'm lucky in the fact it lasted a year without trouble compared to some that had problems after three months.  I don't think I want to be replacing motherboards every three months.

I won't want to do that as well. My laptop is Compaq. Presario R3000 I think

Had it for a while now and the only problem I ever had was adware that was causing havoc with my systems ending up having to restart my computer from the very beginning of it's life. But since that about 2 or 3 months back it been working great.
