The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

To help with the sound club...

All in all, I think this is more trouble than it's worth.

It only takes me a minute or so to upload a low-quality mp3, and considerably less to download one.  No big deal.

I'm saying "no" to this project for the sake of the club.

Sounds like a home network thing.  The same applies to any computer on our home network...we can access files on another computer in folders if we allow it..including streaming a music file from a host computer.

though I don't know why anybody would need a dedicated program to do it.  I just double-click the file through "my network places" :p

Why would they have the ability to add dozens of different users then?  I think it is possible, but I guess it's not really needed for our purposes...

Anyway, there wouldn't be any problems with streaming.  Since this is directly hosted by my own computer, I have 8mbps to share among less than 50 members (I might use 200kps if I'm doing something).  Oh well.  Not that it means anything anyways.  I guess it is too much of a bother.  I just thought it might be cool.
