I love adventure games, because I like taking characters all over the terrain.

The only time I really played any video games at all was with one of my friends through grade school.  He had Nintendo, PS...just about every single one, and we really liked Super Smash Brothers. :D  Poor Pikachu...I never did well with him, or Star Fox either so they went through many lives when I was behind the controller.  That was years ago though....good times.

I got both Playstation 1 and 2 myself.  I'm at my best at racing and fighting games, and I'm getting good practice at some flight simulation games.  My siblings have their own variety of fighting, racing, and RPG games.

Anyway, my best games are Tekken (I have 3 and TTT, and my brother has 2, 4, & 5), Soul Calibur 2, Gran Turismo 1 & 2, and Ace Combat 4.  I'm never truly good at first-person shooter though.

I'd actually like to try a game via internet (I've never done so far, with the only exception of chess). However, I'm more into strategy games like Cossacs, American Conquest etc.

Wow! Quite a range of players we have! I'm mostly an action/adventure player myself. Anything fast and furious that's requires a quick eye to keep up. Games like Burnout 3: Takedown, Devil May Cry, Soul Calibur 2, Super Smash Bros Melee (Link rocks ;) ). I'm probably more into the single players than multiplayers but if they have a multiple player option, it's always a benefit.

Any particular game series people are into? My personal favs are:

Sonic the Hedgehog (past and present)
Devil May Cry
Resident Evil
Metal Gear Solid
Final Fantasy
The Legend of Zelda

I could go on for ages about games I like but I'll spare you all the lecture LOL :DD

I'm much the same way. I also have a photographic memory, so I can remember practically every detail in the game, once I beat it. I like Star Fox, any Mario game, and sports games. i like playing tournaments, so I play SSMB: Melee a lot.

Ditto that! Once I've played a game and clocked it, I can memorise pretty much everything. With some of the old retro games, I used to know them so well, I planned my movements, attacks and evades to the music! Yesterday I went and bought Max Payne 2 and Onimusha 3 for PS2 (2 for £20 deal...bargain ;) ) Completed Oni 3 already thru renting it but didnt have time to check out the extra features. Nearly cleared Max Payne but it's putting up quite a fight! I'll crack it though! Havent met a game I couldn't beat  :D

LOL I guess so! Can't say I'm much of an online gamer but then again, I've never really had the equipment or the net capacity to do it. My computer's close to the stone age of technology and i doubt my folks will appreciate the bill for Net Playing with the PS2  <_<

Space fedration is a good online game. It has five types of game severs for the GC one of the four games. I play Real Time on it 1 turn every 8 seconds with a max of 20 turns stored.

That game is where you manage planets, colnysis, income, food and build ships to defend yourself against many other people that online. almost all the time there is 200 to 300 people online on it and over 2000 players in all. BUt the catch to getting different races is that you have to have a paid account but the free account is good enough for building up a fleet and burning your enermies to the ground and steal their planets

Don't go in for online play, I prefer to plug in the disc and fiddle with the controller.

Yet there are some games that would be perfect if only the computer wasn't so stupid with an AI-IQ next to zero. This is why I would love to try to play some of these games against a more capable player.

I know what you mean but certain 1P games have a very well-programmed AI system. The recent Metal Gear Solids are good examples. For those of you who don't know MGS, it's an espionage game (basically don't get spotted), but if you do, the enemy hunts you down. It's really clever as one enemy can spot you but he'll radio for backup and then you've got 6 men to deal with instead on 1 and as long as you're in sight, more will keep coming! The enemy perform real millary tactics like fan outs, snakes, and room clearances. It's great to look at but flipping annoying trying to escape from! Obviously there are tricks and tactics you can use to wriggle your way out so it makes it more exciting that annoying.

In a sense, computer AI can only go so far otherwise the computer would out-wit the player everytime and then the game would become unenjoyable. There's nothing worse than getting to a certain boss and he out does you EVERY time! :mad

But I was not so much thinking of the kind of games where you are one character running, jumping, hiding, shooting etc. but more of a strategy game where you have to build armies, to form alliances, built up your infrastructure, lead the armies into battle etc. In those games the AI is usually very small (even on high level) and if at all the computer beats you through masses rather than tactics.

I don't know that game, so I'm not sure if it meets the genere. It would be more like Cossacks, American Conquest, or Gettysburg, strategy games which don't suffer from the common drawback of lacking tactical possibilities, but do suffer from poor AI.
