Petrie, Snoopy & Skitter slept through the noise, for now at least, but it woke up Ducky who looked around a bit. "What was that?" She asked a bit startled and afraid, low enough to not wake up anyone.

'Yeah, what the heck was that?' Dixie complained.Being a dog, she had very sensitive hearing...She propped herself up on the cot and looked out on the doorway.

It was likely some debris falling but.." Stripetail fingered his staff. "One can never be sure. We may as well investigate it." He said looing at the others who were stil up, or who had been awakened by the crash. "weho wants to come with me?"

"Who can see better at night then others, or has a good sniffer. Those, maybe, should be among those who investigate. I'm willing to, even though I do not have either better then normal seeing at night ability, nor a sniffer as good as Chomper's." Ducky said.

Underdog was jarred awake by the noise outside the office. Kenji and Talon readied themselves as the human creaked open the door to look down the hallway.

"There's nothing coming our way, yet," Kenji replied to the magical squirrel.

Talon raised a claw like a child in a classroom. "I can go with you!" he happily volunteered. "I can see and smell very well in the dark."

"We may have to make the group small and swift, in case you have to get back in a hurry," Kenji inquired. "That clearly sounded like kitchen equipment, and that was supposedly where these monsters first emerged."

_ Dixie climbed off the cot slowly, as to not wake Scooby or the aliens. "I coming with you guys Lead the way."
Stripetail waited as Dixie came up to him, as did Underdog. there were 6, including himself 'Kenji, Underdog, Dixie Ducky, and Talon.." He counted them off. " Kenji and talon, you'll go in front. blades and weapons at the ready. "Everyone should have their weapons drawn just in case... Ducky , you can stay by me if you wish, or you can go in front or back. Dixie and Underdog, You'll cover the rest of us from behind.."

"I think I will stay with you so I am not in the way of the others." Ducky said as she got the rest of the way up from having been sitting on the cot and walked over to the others. "Let us hope we find nothing." She said, "but be prepared for more."

Kenji gave a small nod and drew both his swords as he took the front, the blades gave off a faint but oddly light blue glow as it reflected off of the light of the squirrel's magic staff. He moved to the wall on one side to let Talon take the other, his glaive pointed down towards the blackness and his keen predator eyesight adjusted quickly to accommodate for the low light. Underdog flew off the raptor's back and U-turned to the back of the group next to Dixie.

Dixie nodded as the beagle landed by her. The light from Stripetail staff was enough for her to see the figures of the rest of the group, and little bit inm front of them, but that was it. "Couldn't you make it a little brighter?' She asked.

They had entered the kitchen and were making their way towards the dining room. there was a odorous stench in the air, foul and heavy. It smelled like rancid meat...that had been left in the sun for days on end.."Gawd! What a horrible smell!'; Dixie sputtered.

Definitely Shurlup. They're nearby. Be ready everyone.. " As he said this, they could now hear noises coming in from the dining room. Low pitched grunts, mixed in with a few high pitched squeals, that grew in tone and tenor as they approched.

"It smells worst then egg eater breath." Ducky said putting her hand over her nose and being glad she didn't have Chomper's sense of smell.

"I hear now that they will very come," Underdog said, "Should we fight or should we run?"

"I want to see how my glaive works on these things," Talon protested.

Kenji hushes the two quiet. "We're not sure yet if they even know we're here. Their sense of smell should not be as good with the B.O. they leave behind..."

Ducky was silent trying to hear what she could hear. "We should not fight if we do not have to, no, no, no. Who knows what they may be up to." Ducky said.

"Fioghting may be an unavoidable option, unfortyuinately" Stripetail replied. "for now we have the element of surprise" He continued, his free paw straying towards his sword. He drew it, and it glowed with a faint, odd light. this was an ancient blade, crafted by swordsmiths whose knowledge and skills were no longer in the world today. Stripetail held his blade tight in his paw, and thrust his staff forward, towards the dinning room door. The smell grew fouler as he approached, water was streaming out of his eyes now. He muttered something under his breath..and then he reached the dooor, and openwed it. _
the dining room was now filled with Shurlups.. some were coming and going out of holes in the floor, others were carrying and setting down what sounded to be mud.. although it could have been nearly anything..in the darkness uit was impossible to say what it was for certain. Stripetail noticed some smaller Shurlups sitting down by the holes."FEMALES" He spat underneath his breath, although his words were discernable to the others behind him. "Things are becoming very bad for us..' He said quietly, turning towards the others.

"if we must fight then we must." Ducky said. Then did the hand and arm motions to change to her guardian form. whispering "Great Valley Swimmer Guardian." Water washed up from the ground over her form to silently change her.

Stripetail was busy guerssing how many Shurlups there were.. at least 30. "We're outnumbered at l;east 5 to 1. But since we have the elwements of surprise... go ahead.."

"I'm find with these odds..." Talon replied with a toothy grin.

Kenji ignored the remark and focused his attention on what seemed to be the females sitting down by the holes. As Stripetail gave the word, the human flung one of his swords towards the foul creatures. An eerie buzz echoed from the spinning sword's blade as it seemed to freely change its direction between the shurlups, and quickly homed in on one of the females with a metallic ring as it hit its mark...

The blade pierced the Shurlurp right through the heart. It let out a high -pitched gurgling squeal, and fell to the ground. The squeal alerted nearby shurlups who gathered over the fallen female, and looked at the blade sticking out of her, as if they weren't sure what it was.. Then the group let forth oa volley of anguished howls.. they were obviously pissed,.

'Nice shot Kenji' Stripetail said. "But now they're REALLY pissed. He let fiorth a ffireball, and it landed right in the middle of the group throwing them backwards and igniting the corpse of the Shurlup. The sudden light lit up the room, casting shadows everywhere. "Now we canm see them' He said. "and vice versa. " the anguished screams of the shurlups were earsplitting , if the rest of the group back in the office wasn't awake before they probably were now. a number of shurlups raced over the floor towards Stripetail. Dixie stepped in front of him, she had run over and found her sword sticking out of pile a mithril. She now held it out in front of her face. 'these boys are mine" She said with a snarl, blade at the ready. Dixie slashed and cut at them, tryinmg to drive thwm back.

"Ice tooth." Ducky said and an icicle flew point first from one of her hands around the her present team mates at one of the shurlups.

Talon met the shurlup's screams with a deafening roar before charging into action. He leaped over three charging shurlups and spun around with his glaive in one stroke, cutting the monsters down. Another anguished howl beside him forced the raptor to turn and raise his weapon to block the monster's attack, but the sheer force of the menace knocked him backwards onto his back, the shaft of his weapon holding back the snarling jaws of the shurlup on top of him...

Underdog hovered above the floor before a gang of shurlups. With a defiant glare, the beagle inhaled deeply and let forth his atomic breath to blow back the monsters...and sprung back as a female shurlup swung at him with her claws, which met the corner of his cape and shredded it...

Kenji slid into the fray, dodging and cutting, as he made his way towards the flaming corpse. Rolling towards it past the rancid monster's attacks, he grabbed the impaled sword from the fire and pulled it out, its blade now glowing red with extreme heat. A claw clamped on his shoulder as he turned his head to spot the second claw coming down at his face...and he twisted in to bring his scorching blade even faster into the shurlup, cutting neatly through and even setting bits of the fur on fire. The lifeless corpse fell back and the claw ripped from the human's shoulder, leaving behind a bloody gash. Kenji turned his attention to the threat around him, currently unaware that his last kill was in fact a female and her claw left behind a poisoned wound...

Stripetail gestured and threw a number of shurlup backwards. The battle was now fully joined. They had killed a number of Shurlup already, and the ground was stained red with Shurlup blood. Ducky's ice tooth had hit a Shurlup freezing it solid.

Dixie waas busy slicing and stabbing at a pair of Shurlup. These were large shurlup, with huge arms and broad claws Dixie kept moving her feet as first one then the other swung at her. She backed off, allowing the Shurlup's momentum to carry them forward, and it was then she struck with her sword. the magic blade's edge was keen, and bit deep into the arm of the nearest Shurlup "The Shurlup roared in pain, and in its agony wretcghed Dixie Blade from her paw. It scratched vainly at the blade, embdedded in its arm. Dixie was now diown to her ring.. and armor.

Ducky saw what Dixie was up to and aiming her hand said, "Ice tooth." shooting off another icicle at the shurlup to try to distract it or damage it further so it's attention would not be on Dixie, to try to allow her time to retrieve her weapon, or do whatever her plan was.
