Stripetail nodded at the suggestion. "Dixie, Scooby, start taking them into the office. Take a couple of these vials, they have shurlup Milk in them."

"You'd be in big trouble" stripetail said, handing him a vial. "Shurlups are very territorial, and fiercely protective of their young. Its was pure luck that the mother of these shurlup came out where she did. Had she come out in the dining room, the other Shurlups would have taken custody of her offspring. which would have added 5 to the number of our foes in there. as for your friend. He is likely in the office.

"So since we have custody of these shurlups what will the adults do if they encounter them?" Spyro asked.

"They will kill them and eat them, if they encounter them now. They will bear our scents, since we have been tending them. Shurlups' Stripetail paused as he began performing the autopsy, " give off a certain scent, as do other creatures. Dogs, cats, humans, all give off scents. They use that scent, as do other creatures, to identify themselves. Often, a Shurlup group will kill those from another group, and will isolate them by scent. We must protect the cubs, they are dependent on us now...Their mother would have ensured their protection and acceptance by the others, but since she is dead, we must fulfill her duties for them."

"How much do they rely on scent?" Cynder asked curiously.

Spyro turned and glanced in the opposite direction as Stripetail started the autopsy, while Cynder didn't seem to take notice of it at all.

"Which way is the office?" Wataru asked.

"Quite a bit, although not as much as other species. deep sea creatures, for example rely almost entirely on scent, since their vision is poor." Stripetail replied. "How much do you rely on scent Cynder and Spyro? '

"Maybe we'd need a place to hide them from the main ones. If it were possible to give each shlurp a different scent or about half of them, then some of them may fight among themselves and reduce the total number here." Douglas said.

While that is possible, it is also time consuming. We'd need..." his eyes lit up.. "The Shurlup in the men's bathroom!. Of course! He's got a different scent than these Shurlup, while he's been domesticated to a degree. He's still a Shurlup.. the question is, how will he take to these Shurlup pups?

"Not very much," Cynder replied. "We rely more on sight than anything else."

"You have a shurlup living in the men's bathroom?" Sparx asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I can carry that," Wataru volunteered pointing to the tray Nick had just finished.

It's cal;led the insane Cafe for a reason. people pop in from all times and places. Working here is hazardous to your health on a daily basis, and most of us who work here, are slightly mad..' Nicjk said.
