Deimos looked at the contestants. "Hmm. It looks like Strut has bit of an advantage. He can bring the fight to the Shurlups."

'begin!' stripetail said, gesturing and lobbing ab orb into a nearby hole, soon the ground rumbled as Shurlups began Climbing out of the holes. the clock began counting down..
" Ryro! rart rasting rhem rith rire!" Scooby said, drawing his sword. He, like Dixie would have to wait for the minute to pass before charging the shurlups

"I've never seen rounds like these before!" Strut commented as he took aim at a charging Shurlup and dropped it with a single shot to the chest. The shotgun spat out a bolt of green fire and the Shurlup was dyed green as it was shot.

He took aim at 5 other Shurlups and calmly shot them. He paused a moment to reload, which took about 7 seconds. He took aim at another Shurlup and shot it.

" I take that back. He doesn't need any help," Cynder said, before spewing a cloud of darkness at an approaching shurlup. The cloud hit another shurlup behind it as well. The creatures howled in pain and fell to the ground, turning red.

Spyro spat a ball of earth magic at a group of shurlups, the ball exploded and killed three of them, injuring a fourth.

Strut had felled 6 Shrulups in a manner of a few seconds. Dixie threw her blade, it pieced a shurlup and it impaled anither as the first shurlup fell backward.. it was now 6-4-3.

Scooby hit a Shurlup with a fireball from his ring, and it ignited 3 others, turning them purple. The boys now had 7 points.

Cynder growled and spat several globs of poison at the approaching shurlups. The beasts stumbled, some into their fellows, spreading the green magic to them by touch. Six shurlups were infected the venom in all and were slowed down as the poison damaged them. Two were close enough for Dixie to lean over the line and stab with her sword.

Strut aimed at a Shurlup and shot it, a bolt of green fire issued forth from his shotgun and set it on fire. The Shurlup was dyed green as it fell.

Strut racked his shotgun again and shot another Shurlup. He racked it again and realized that his shotgun had jammed.

"No!" he said. He frantically tried to clear the jam.

Two shurlups charged at Strut as they noticed his shots had ceased. Cynder turned and screeched at one, the air distorting a bit from the sound and a red aura appearing around the shurlup as it halted in place, trembling in fear. Spyro spat a ball of ice at the other one and froze its feet to the floor.

The Score was now 11-9-8 in favor of the girls, Strut was second and the boys were in last. Scooby blasted a nearby Shurlup with ice..

You can now crosss the line" stripetail called out.

Dixie rushed out and picked up her sword, pulling it from the Shurlups body.

Scooby walked slowly across and 5 Shurlups attacked him. Each in turn were hacked and stabbed at. Boys now had the lead.. "Rhere rust re rundreds runder round.."

Spyro leapt forward and rammed into a shurlup's chest, his horns impaling it.

Cynder advanced a few steps and ducked under a slash from a shurlup, she slammed her tail into its face as it spun around to try another attack. Before it recovered from the blow, the dragoness leapt up and slashed her claws across its cheek.

as the minutes continued, the roomwas filled with the sounds of gunfire, magic, and the screams of the dying Shurlups. Halfway though the contest. srttrut hel;d a 48-45-44 lead, the girls were in seconds, followed cloesly by the boys. Yet the Shurlups kept coming, clearlty there were hundreds more underground than they had anticipated.

Strut moved somewhat closer to the action but he was still at a safe distance.

Strut dodged a Shurlup's slash. He then clubbed the Shurlup with the butt of his shotgun and shot it in the chest.

He took aim at 4 Shurlups and shot and killed them in turn.

He fired his last round into another Shurlup, killing it.

He then reloaded his shotgun, taking 7 seconds to do so.

scooby used his blade, hacking and slashing at any Shurlup who cam near. Numbers 45, 46 and #47 met their end. He blasted another with a jolt of ice. "Ryro! Ry rour rury! Re reed roints! he called out.

"Okay!" Spyro nodded, ducking under a shurlup's arm and then kicking it with his back legs. He paused and concentrated. Purple light surrounded him and then shot out in wave, producing an effect similiar to a heavy gust of wind as it hit the room's occupents.

Now covered in purple light, Spyro opened his mouth and released his fury breath, the beam traveling across the room and slamming into the wall, any shurlups in its path were thrown into the air. He swept the beam across the group of shurlups, killing more then he could keep count of.

"Hey!" Cynder excalimed, seeing Spyro using the same power that she had almost beaten Scooby with in the previous contest. Her ring pulsed with light as she whispered a command and another wave of fury energy swept out from her. She copied Spyro's method, blasting the oncoming shurlups with her fury breath.

The combined furies devastated the oncoming shurlups. 40-50-60 went down. The Boys now had a big lead. in total they had killed 91, The girls had killed 75, and Strut was in third with 70. There were now 6 minutes left. The furies wouldn;t kast long, Dixie knew that from the first contest but at the rate Spyro was killing Shurlups, their chances of catching up in the time remaing would be slim..

Cynder had drawn power from her ring to enter her fury state, while Spyro had used his natural power, if he decdied to use his ring he could make his fury state last longer then hers. Cynder leapt at Spyro, stretching out her paws, the two met locking paws and both spun about in midair becoming a purple ball of light which shot at the shurlups which were thrown into the air like bowling pins.

The dragons separated, both having used up their fury with the last combo attack, which had colored each of the shurlups it hit a pattern of purple and red.

Stripetail gestured, and those who Spyro had done more damage to, turned purple, and those Cynder had done more damage to, turned red. "Alright" He said. " What i did was split the kills between you.' Cynder had managed to stop Spyro from running away with the contest, at the cost of her own fury. As it was, that move had killed 30 Shurlkups, both had killed 15. Meanwhile Dixie and Scooby slashed at stragglers, and Strut pumped six more Shurlups full of lead. The score was now, Boys 108, Girls 93, and Strut was at 88. "5 minutes left" Stripetail called out.

"That wasn't fair, Cynder," Spyro said, rubbing his head a bit. As usual the fury left him a little shaken.

"Well, it's your fault for letting it happen," Cynder replied as green venom covered the tip of her tail and she slashed at a shurlup with it.
