Ok you gain a million dollars.. will you really follow through on the casually made promises you made If, you ever got a lot of money? Most people won't. they'll take care of themselves and thier family and thats pretty much it. And what good is a long life, if you have no one to spend it with? Having a long life can be a misery if you are alone."

Sparx didn't appear to be listening anymore. Rather he seemed to be staring blanky off into space.

'About 20 minutes" Dixie said. "You slept like a babe... and you feel asleep right away. It took me about another minute to fall asleep.." She said looking at Cynder, who was gazing intently at her.

Nick entered the office with the Shurlup. "I've found a surrogate mum for the babes, hopefully.." He led the Shurlup over to the Pen, and the Young Shurlup, sniffed at it, recognized the scent of the babes, and nifty climbed over and into the pen with them. The babes woke up, and looked unsurely at this new guest.

Spyro jumped as he saw the shurlup. He relaxed when he saw Nick had its arms tied, though he didn't relax very much.

"More of them?" Sparx frowned.

"Sure' Dixie nodded, she climbed off the bed and drank the water from ine of the glasses on the bedside table. "Which of us should have to put up with Sparx for an hour? You have had serious issues with him in the past, and we can't afford to lose this challenge because you tried to eat him.." She smiled a little bit. "Not that he doesn't deserve to be put in his place every now and then"

Dixie grinned. "Spyro wouldn't be too happy that you ate his brother, no matter how much of a pain he is..he's the only family, besides you, he has.. I think I'll go first, since you've had a solo challenge before. I'll just nod at whatever he says, unless he's really inapropriate.."

Chicken' Stripetail cracked. "You have a way with those Shurlups Nick, even though we've killed over 700 of them, you still managed to find one Shurlup that we can work with.. This one appears to be very young, probably not old enough to start producing milk.."

The Tourist nodded, "Money isn't everything, and being immortal isn't a good idea for most mortals. There's a race who use to have unlimited regenerations that in time knew what it was like to live forever in the mortal world and longed to have the regenerations end. And a ship on a mission to seek a new home that had a crew who used technology to continue to regenerate. Also I know a certain former king of Ithaca who was also a knight of the round table named Bedwyr, and was Little John, forced to eternal life in the mortal world by the Greek Gods. Cursed to not age and never to die. Immortality is more of a curse then some folks would think." The Tourist said.

"I have lived a million years, Tourist, so I know only too well the truth of your statements. the worst part for me is the loneliness, knowing that those I befriend will pass on.. no matter my feelings for them. and i've heard about that unfortunate soul, he was once called Oddyseus, and cursed by one of the gods, either Poseidon or Zeus himself, to walk the world until the end of time. The Tourist nodded, "It can be bad indeed. I visit him from time to time, and sometimes he travels with me for periods of time. Though long lived compared to most, even time lords eventually die. Though there are stories that Rassalon has unlimited regenerations or is immortal, learning the curse that it is and laying a trap for those who wish to claim immortality from him. Though some other stories say he'll freely give any who reach his tomb immortality."

(OOC: Reminds me of some stories I wrote long age with Odysseus as the main character.)

(Oddysseus is truly one of the great characters of epic fiction. Beowulf is another... If you ever saw the 1997 NBc miniseries "the Oddessy" it was a excellent production...)

Strut was standing with his weapon at the ready when the radio crackled.

"Strut, bring down some more ammo! Rifle and shotgun ammo!" the radio crackled. It was Rime's voice.

Strut grabbed 2 bags from the kitchen and filled one with rifle rounds and the other with some buckshot shells.

He then handed the bag to Nick. "Nick, bring these down to the Pelvanida group."

Nick left the Shurlups in the pen and went back to the dining room. He took the bag from Strut and climbed back down into the hole..

Spyro listened to the discussion in silence, not having much to say on it. He had never thought of what it might be like to be immortal and now that he had heard this negative talk of it decided he did not like the idea. He wondered if the Chroniclor was immortal and decided that he must be since he was mentioned in so many ancient stories.
