The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

Something odd with GOF

Well, this is sorta hard to explain, but here's what happens when I load any page.  When I load the page, there's more information about the member underneath their rank image, but then it goes away for all members.

Isn't that something only an admin can normally see?

I think and admin can see your ip address maybe, and also the warn level.  Instead being able to see just your warn you could see everyone's I would think, and it would have a way for you to add to it.  Also I guess there would be extra buttons or options to bad a user, move a thread, delete a thread ect.

Just some assumptions on my part as to what an admin sees on this board as apposed to a normal member.

That's correct.  Normally nobody can see that additional information (we've disabled it) but the script is slow enough that it displays it for a moment before it hides it sometimes.  It's nothing serious.  I don't know exactly why it happens sometimes though.

I see this sometimes. But then it disappears once the whole page has loaded. :p

Those two pieces of info really don't matter here that's why I put on the script to remove them.  You're a member of the community all the same, no matter if you're #14 or #140.

Is there any way we could see the rest of the conversation you highlighted in that screencapture? It looks like it came from GOF: The Soap Opera.

Unfortunately, that post is long gone.  Brings back memories some people don't want to remember, but the date gives it away.

Wait, you mean that was an honest-to-goodness conversation? They weren't joking around? Malte actually used the word "banish"?

It was an April fools joke which most people didn't find funny.
I banned Jason, Tim banned me, and there was too much concern at that point so we called it off rather than having Tim banned by Adam.

One big reason I'll be taking a break from everything internet on april 1st.  It seems I"m the only one in the entire universe (multiverse if some physics theories are true) who does not observe april fools day.

Oh, that's what Petrie meant by "the date gives it away." Sounded funny to me.

Yeah, the April fools joke gone awry.  Sounded good on paper.
