The Gang of Five
Howdy, everyone!

As you know, the forum has been fighting spammers and bots for years. We have seen our fair share of "Custom Kitchens UK", scammy Internet hosting companies, and bots trying to send us to a business's homepage. But after fighting the tidal wave of spam for so many years, the admins had a persistent thought: what if the spammers are right? Not in terms of posting nonsense links and trying to scam our users, but in trying to make money through our unique platform?

Well, thanks to the helpful counsel of Taunt, we have finally decided to move the forum in a new direction. Please see his important post on the matter in this topic

He's gone...

My sincerest condolences, GVG.  It is not easy to lose a loved one, even pets.  I may be a caregiver(nurse aide), but I can tell ya first thing that one never overcomes the sorrow a death can bring him or her.  I'm only 21, but this is my list of lost loved ones, and the age I was when they died:

Grandmother-age five
Friend of the family-committed suicide when I was nine
Litter of baby hamsters-age ten
Grandfather-age ten
Two adult hamsters-age eleven
Grandmother-age fourteen
Grandfather-age seventeen(he had lung cancer and I was his caregiver)
Marge-my grandmother's cat I took in after she passed-age seventeen
Molly-my first dog.  She was a beautiful Cocker Spaniel-age seventeen
T-Bone-my fourth dog(the other two are Cockers, and they're still living).  He was a recued black Lab-age twenty
Uncle-terminal with lung cancer. May die this year

I've also lost several fish along the way, as well as several patients I grew close to.  What I'm trying to say is you're not alone, GVG, and as we age we will see death more and more often but must accept that our loved ones are in a better place looking out for us here.  Rex is probably hosting a party in heaven as we speak :yes.

Thank you for the kind words, and yes I did realize that when Rex died...it was a highly sad moment, but knowing that I had the honor of caring for him and loving him like a member of my family. I am sorry to see your list of losses. It is never easy...that much I do know. And the thought of Rex holding a party had crossed my mind in the most unique place...MY College classroom! It actually brought a smile to my face as I studied for my finales.

Once more thank you for your concern, and  I am proud to see your strength in the face of our darkest moments. Thank you again.

Sorry to hear this GVG. You sure aren't a bad owner. A bad owner would just throw him away and never even would think about putting a message up here...

My condolences.

I'm happy for you! Boa's are beautiful beings! I'm sure you'll be friends!
I would never, ever be able to have a snake as a pet though, I'm scared like * of snakes!

Do well. Live well. And dress very well.

Congratulations from me to on getting a Boa constrictor. Once, when i was at my local Pet Store, and behind a large glass wall were many smaller glass boxes containing various animals, insects, et.c There was a Boa Constrictor in one of the boxes, and i walked away then came back to the glass window to see the Boa had popped out of it's glass box and was slowly heading towards a Rabbit, and i had to get one of the people working there to put it back in it's box. I was actually thinking i was going to see a Rabbit get eaten in front of my eyes.

That's great to hear that you got a new pet and I hope that you will grow to love 'Sweetie' or however you will call her just as much as you loved Rexington J. Lee. I'm sure you would get along fine with my father. He loves snakes too, though he doesn't have one as a pet.

My mother's afraid of snakes, though I've tried to tell her they're just legless lizards.  Just imagine a lizard without limbs, and you've pretty much got it.  Anyway, glad to see that you've got another pet, Great Valley Guardian.  Over the years, I've lost a few fish - though the rest of them were given away, I think - a cat, and another one ran off - and we had to give the other two away to a good friend of mine, who had to, eventually, give them to a good friend of his - and I've had seven birds, three of which are still living.  All parakeets except for...  Bay...  (Short for "Baby," none the less...)  An English Budgie.  Being around keets most of my life, ya know, they're kinda small, so when I saw this variation of keet that was like, three times the typical size...  I'd heard of them, but I absolutely fell in love with her...   ...It was a grand *gulp* seven months...  ...I'd rarely, if ever, cried over the death of a pet, but that hit me hard.  She must have slipped off the perch one night, and broken her neck.  She was still alive into the next day, until that evening, when lack of food finally caused the eternal sleep of time...  To at last come over her...  I didn't cry then; I needed to be strong for my mother.  It was before that time...  Praying...  Asking Yahweh to spare this...  But I knew that wouldn't be right...  How selfish I was.  Fortunately, He did not grant my request...  (I couldn't even bury her for a MONTH; kept her in a box, out in the cold storage unit...  I also wrote a poem about losing her; perhaps I'll post that one soon...  She's buried at my other grandma's house, in the back yard.  Sometimes, I look out back, to the place...  And reminisce.  I remember doing that after the end of that Total Lunar Eclipse we just had, about two months ago...)  So, Great Valley Guardian, I can totally understand what you've gone through.  I'm sure most of us here can.  It's no fun when a pet dies...  It's very heartbreaking...  But, best wishes with your new friend...
"And the Most High said unto Moses, Ahayah-Asher-Ahayah.  And he said, Thus shalt thou say to the children of Israel, Ahayah hath sent me unto you...  This is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations."

1953-2011...  One day, mother, I shall see you again...
