Dante looked up, trying his best to smile as he replied...
"We're not too badly hurt, if that's what you mean. It was...well, it was my older brother. He attacked us, then ran off. That's what happened...."
He said, his voice trailing glumly off...

Grandpa Longneck nodded and sighed as he replied "Well, at least you are both safe...that is what's important. Unfortunately we have a very serious issue now...with your brother and these sharpteeth hiding in our valley you young ones will have to stay close to all of us. I'm sorry but this is the only way to ensure everyones safety."

Longtail quickly scoffed and said "Oh please as long as Virgil is around...I'm going to keep looking day and night...wether the elders like it or not."

"We need to see to the other young ones safety, and I'm sure you may get your wish to battle this... Virgil in the near future if he and his fastbiter cronies remain in the Great Valley." Mr. Thicknose spoke, attempting to speak as calmly as he could.

He was eager to see if Strafe was alright now that things had quieted down.
He found her and although she looked alright, he asked anyway, "Are you alright?"

Strafe nodded and replied, "I'm fine. Is everyone else alright?"
Snork had a few cuts and bruises but was otherwise fine.

Snork said in a tired manner, "Sooner or later, that threehorn is ging to find out about Dante and he doesn't seem like the type to listen to reason."

Strafe asked Littlefoot's grandfather, "What are we going to do now?"

Dante nodded.
"That was the one thing I didn't want to happen. Looks like now, though, there's no way around it, is there?"

Hunter who was nearby would've respnoded, but she was far too busy ripping the bark off of a tree in a blind show of pure rage to care.

Longtail was now sitting on the ground licking his wounds from his fight with Virgil and clawing at the ground.

Grandpa Longneck sighed and said "I'm afraid not Dante."
He then looked over to face Strafe while saying, "Now we need to come up with an idea so as to keep everyone here safe. Or at least free of battle wounds in our case." The elderly longneck then turned to Snork and replied "You let me worry about that when the time comes. I'll make him see that Dante isn't a threat."

Grandpa Longneck looked down and asked "What is wrong Dante? Are you alright?"

Longtail looked up and a frown appeared as he said "Dante...it'll be okay...we'll beat Virgil. I can guarantee it!"

"Yea, Dante's no thread, he's a nice person." Cera said. "And he was fighting those mean sharpteeth as these others here were." Cera said.

"Yes, they certainly were. Hopefully we can convince those other not very nice fastbiters to leave the Great Valley." Mim said.

"I do certainly hope so, though based on past experience it, sadly, may mean more fighting will have to be done to drive them out." Mr. Thicknose said.

"Unfortunate, but unavoidable with some folks." Mim said.

"To true." Mr. THicknose said a bit sadly.

Strafe yawned and suggested, "For now, let's just go home and get some rest."

Snork suggested, "Just to be safe, perhaps we should find some place hidden. We wouldn't want those creeps finding us while we're asleep."

Strafe replied, "I think you're right. Anyone know of any place we can stay?"

Dante shook the tears from his eyes, smiling at his friends.
"Yeah...We can stop Virgil...I know it..."
Then he looked up at Grandpa Longneck, asking...
"I know that I've been a real inconvenience so far, but Snork's right. We need someplace that Virgil won't be able to find us. Can you help?"

Grandpa Longneck thought for a moment...and finally had an idea as he said "Everyone can stay under, or inside the Tree of Life."

Longtail looked confused as he asked "What's the...Tree of Life?"

The elderly longneck chuckled as he said "It in a basic meaning is the very center of the entire Great valley...it is very spacious and quiet....so if Virgil, or anyone else tries to sneak up on you...chances are..they won't be able to." He looked over to Mr. Thicknose and asked "Do you agree with where they should sleep?"

Mr. Thicknose Nods, "That does sound like a good idea and with the conditions of the area around there their excellent hearing should enable them to hear any approaching quite well." He said.

"I think I've seen that, but I've never gone close." Cera said.

"Sounds like it could work." Mim said not sure but she knew she didn't know the Great Valley to well yet so thought those who knew it better would have a far better idea then she would for the best place for them to sleep.

Grandpa Longneck smiled and said "It is no trouble at all. Anyone who is friendly to our valley will find help and shelter here when they need it."

Kaga agreed with the others and said tiredly, "Let's go. I need to get some sleep."
It had been a long day, though he had come out alright in the end. He was glad to see that Strafe was alright as well. fter a while, he could see a large mass of trees ahead and asked Grandpa Longneck, "So, is that it then?"
It looked like it would be suitable. The foliage would keep any rain off of them as well as provide protection from Virgil and his ilk.

Grandpa Longneck smiled and replied "Yes. Welcome to the center of the valley, and the Tree of Life. It is said that this tree was where the Great valley began to grow. But I can see you're all tired. Once you all get settled I'll take my leave."

Longtail smiled and said "It smells so fresh...and clean...like right after sky water falls."

"Very pleasant indeed." Mim said as she inhaled the air and looked around. "Very nice indeed." She said.

"It's ok, I guess." Cera said looking around, liking the place, but not letting on any.

"It can be pleasant to come here and just relax from time to time, or just be a short distance away and look at the area." Mr. Thicknose said.

Longtail walked up to the tree and placed a claw on it and gasped as he said "The tree it feels warm...tihs is good." Longtail then sat down against the tree and smiled as he sighed in relef and said "You guys have got to try this!"

Hunter shrugged and walked over as well. She however didn't have to touch the tree to feel it's warmth. She giggled as she replied "Oh wow...you weren't joking Longtail...this is wonderful." She then sat next to the young flyer and leaned as close as she could to the tree and lid her head down on the ground and almost immediately fell asleep.
